I left the GG's after about 6 weeks - just when my mum had bought my uniform

I was a Brownie and I loved it and had loads of badges and got to be a First Class Brownie. I lasted 2 months in the Guides. I really didn't like it. Gwynne

I loved GG. I was in it until I was too old. I was a patrol leader too. ;) For some reason my friends thought I was a bit of a saddo, but they moaned they were always bored. ;) (I joined the Ventures after) I was a nightingale. What were you? Claire xx

Still involved, having been a brownies and a guide, went on to leadership and am still involved. Can't get enought girls now, nor leaders for that matter which is a shame. I was an Elf, then a Swallow. ...and was a district commisioner up until last year, when two districts joined together due to lack of numbers.Such a shame Jess

Claire

Claire Report 30 Jul 2005 08:44

It IS such a shame Jess isn't it? I went into leadership for a while but I was so disheartened by the lack of support from the parents who treated me like a babysitting service. :( What do the kids do nowadays? Claire xx

Where are you based? I lived in South London until last year and we had a MASSIVE district - went to EuroDisney with 700+ girls in 2000. I'm in Wales now and it is quieter but we still have a thriving unit. I was a Brownie and never escaped ....I was a Sprite, then a Daffodil in Guides - now they call me Tweety Pie!...

Hello Marie, sorry didn't reply earlier. Got sidetracked. :o) I was based in Coventry. The Guides never did so well as the Scouts here for some reason, and of course now that Scouts here has accepted girls, there are a lot more joining the Scouts which thankfully still seems to be going pretty strong. I am glad that the organisiation is still going for the kids sake. I loved it and learned such a lot. Claire xx

Campfire songs, Brownie bells, Taps..... I take solace in the fact that my 8 year old neice loves brownies - and her pack is full to bursting. Jess
