Sue, I have been waiting all evening to make the 6000th post, I bet you never thought the thread would get to be that long

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 4 Nov 2009 21:20

Oops sorry Sue, you will just have to be on the ball when we reach 7000

Hello Diane

Hi Linda, the virus is actually quite cute, but it must be borne in mind that self praise is no recommendation!

And Steve McQueen I is'nt. Truth be told I can't even ride a motorbike!

Good morning Sue

Yes, and what about some one bursting my bubble when I thought that I had the 2000th post and I was told it didn't count because some posts had been deleted :0((

*sits on chair sulking and stamping feet*

Oh Allan, you have disappointed me.

I actually do have my motorbike license. I learnt to ride because OH had a bike which he used to go to work on so that I could have the car. That must have been about 1973ish. We actually went on holiday youth hostelling around France on our bikes one year.
We learnt to ride at an approved scheme and we both went on to train to be instructors,so used to spend our weekends teaching other people.

I haven't ridden since I was pregnant with my first child and wouldn't want to, or know how to these days.

You can see that I am a woman of hidden talents, most of them deeply buried!

I certainly didn't expect the thread to get to this point. I've only had one PM awhile back telling me that I was possibly against the T&C's because it excluded anyone who isn't Australian. I didn't even answer it because whoever it was hid their name and it was ridiculous.

Hi Allan, never mind hun you might get the 7000th one instead.

Sue you don't need to get any milestone's hun, your's honour was the start of such a good thread of which we are all grateful.

The wum obviously hadn't read the thread Sue,as half of us definitely are not Australians

Allan stop spitting your dummy out, any way why do you still have one at your age?

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 4 Nov 2009 21:37

That's why I didn't answer Linda. I think whoever it was only saw the title.

Sue

itwas probably the idiot who posted on here some time ago. I seem to recall green tights.

Linda I was put off two wheeled mechanical conveyances after my dad gave me his old moped...the type that had a motor but you could also use pedal power.

The bl**dy thing would always breakdown when I was miles from home and I would have to pedal it back

It was like trying to pedal a Tank!!!

Thanks, Diane, but I'm so traumatised by that past occurrence that I will not be trying for anymore milestones!!

Er Linda, would you believe because I am tring to give up smoking??

Berona

Berona Report 4 Nov 2009 21:54

My OH once swapped vehicles with a friend for a week and he introduced me to life on a motorcycle! I just couldn't get used to leaning with the bike and kept leaning the opposite way to compensate. I was so glad when he gave it back and returned to driving a car - and I've never been on a bike from that day to this!

Allan - try it cold turkey. I did when I was facing a thyroid operation - and have never had a cigarette in my mouth since. The biggest surprise was in the money I saved!!! Wow! Nothing could ever get me to go back to it now.

Allan

Allan Report 4 Nov 2009 21:58

Er, Berona, I was joking: I quit 30 years ago but for some reason I occasionally yearn for a cigar

Diane Report 4 Nov 2009 22:00

My first experience on a bike made me say never again, and it was a long long time before I did venture on one again. The second time was a lot better experience and it wouldn't bother me to go on one now, in fact I would look forward to it as long as I knew the rider up front.

We'll let you smoke cigars when you come on the cruise, Allan - just as long as we have a head wind, and you sit up at the stern of the boat - you can smoke as many as you like!

Allan

Allan Report 4 Nov 2009 22:12

Thank you, Berona, I shall enjoy one with my brandy :0))

Diane my experience with the moped and was during the era of the Mods and Rockers and to be caught riding the wrong machine could lead to a violent confrontation
