I must go now and do some more disinfecting. It's getting better. Bought another supply of pine disinfectant and more scented candles yesterday, so I'm getting there! Each day, it seems a little less (or am I learning to live with it?).

Edna is over here at present waving her gladiolus (is that the plural).
No Colin you would not pick my accent. Once people in Oz found that we were Jafas - they would ask us to say Fish and Chips - and that is exactly what we say. But you do hear words like fush, pun for pin etc quite a bit.
My OH does not like being asked are youse (ewes) ready to order when out for a meal - but that is more the Polynesian/Maori inflection take.

My OH also seems to be able to recognise all the different counties accents from England. When he did his OE he worked as a truck driver around the UK, so once he has established where they are from they then find out he more than likely knows their area as well.

Hello Norma, I am never sure about the various cases for gladioli, so I just looked it up on Wikepedia

gladiolus (plural gladioli, gladioluses or sometimes gladiolas).

I think that I prefer gladioli as the plural, gladioluses sounds so unwieldy. We used to have some in the garden, but they always seemed to get blown over in the wind,so we took them out

I would be quite happy for the Welsh to win. I used to enjoy the matches during the eighties and before - loved the singing when our lot played Wales.
I don't pay much attention to the All Blacks nowadays - my dad was a keen watcher on TV, and my mother's father had a permanent seat at Eden Park.

My Grandmother's sister married a Davies and his brother had a family of 12 - all born here, have great family get-togethers and they all have Welsh Names. My Great Aunt and Uncle's son marrried a Williams, her parents came out here from Wales.
So I don't just have Welsh animal connections.

Did not mean to be unwieldy - it is just one of those strange words.
Yes they can be unwieldy to grow as well - we had them in the front garden when I was young and they would bow to the wind.
Like you I think it should be the same singular as plural - like Tec's sheep.
Thanks for the sauce we had it tonight in our seafood marinara. Quite a saucey little number.
