Hello Everyone !!

how are we all?

I am up bright and early this morning ! Going to tackle the shops again - Xmas presents. I cannot stand crowds so getting there for when the shops open :)
This year I have been wondering what it would be like to have a winter Xmas not a day hot day as per normal. I came out from the UK when I was about 2 so I don't have any memories of a white Xmas..A full Xmas dinner with all the trimmings !

What do you all have for your Xmas dinner/lunch? (No I am not inviting myself..lol) Just wondering !!

xx

Why on earth do you want to buy artificial grass Allan? you have just dug all yours up

Hello Janet. We have Christmas lunch in the dining room.We have the best china and cutlery. Plus candles lit on the table. A full traditional dinner with lots of sparkling wine, usually champagne.

Janetx

Janetx Report 18 Dec 2009 22:36

hi Linda...So you would have a full lunch with all the trimmings?

Janetx

Janetx Report 18 Dec 2009 22:39

Posted at the same time Linda....Now that does sound nice !! So different here I mean we could have a full Xmas meal but the weather is so hot. I wonder if any of the Aussies have a traditional Xmas lunch with all the trimmings...

Yes we have turkey, several types of stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, sprouts, carrots, roast parsnips, gravy, cranberry sauce.
Followed by Christmas pudding and brandy sauce

Janetx Report 18 Dec 2009 22:43

Now I am jealous!! and hungry..lol. Do you do all the cooking Linda?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Dec 2009 22:43

I had better explain that pigs in blankets are sausages (snags?) wrapped in bacon

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Dec 2009 22:46

OH will help to peel the veg, but I cook it all. It is just like a larger version of normal Sunday dinner, so no problem. I suppose that when you do it every year, you just have it off pat.

Allan,
You are swapping your son for a gift voucher???
Enjoy your day

Good Morning Janet,
You would be very welcome to join us for Christmas - but I really do not think you would appreciate the weather just now - it is mind bendingly freezing - perishing.

Christmas dinner here is always a hot dinner for most I should think.
Traditionally it would be turkey, roast potatoes, creamed potatoes, variety of veg - sprouts, parsnips, carrots, peas maybe.
We have never liked turkey, and have chicken quite often, so we prefer beef or lamb instead of turkey. This year we have opted for a leg of Welsh lamb.
We don't enjoy Christmas Pudding either as we find it too rich and too heavy, so have something else in the form of a sweet.

Traditionally, it wouldn't have been Turkey Tec, that is a fairly modern thing. I suppose that it would have been beef. I like lamb, except for the fact that it is very expensive and fatty

Hi Tec....Would be nice to experience a White Xmas rather than a Summer Xmas...This year I think that we are having seafood which is nice also !!

I love seafood Janet, we used to live on the coast when I was small and there was a really good fish shed, where they sold live crabs and fish straight from the boats, so we always had lots of seafood. Now you can buy all sorts of things on the fresh fish counter in the supermarket from all over the world

I suppose goose was very traditional at one time Linda - Fresh Welsh lamb is delicious, and not at all fatty - our local butcher is also a farmer, and the lamb is very local to us.

Janet, We have an award winning seafood restaurant near here, but it wouldn't have the superb variety you have. I had a seafood meal in Sydney and that was something to remember.
