We were up at Dove Lake in Tassie and my OH had the window down and one currawong settled on his wing mirror and was practically in his face and the other one was sitting on the front windscreen in front of me. After chatting to them we went to get out of the car and I said to OH you better put the window up and in turning the ignition on the windscreen wipers started up and the one on the windscreen got a hell of a fright. It was a funny sight.
And would you believe that despite it being a cold showery day in the beginning of August we could actually see the whole of Cradle Mountain across the lake. There is usually only a few days in the summer that you get to see it if you are lucky.
I just love Tassie and I could bore you all to death with talking about the place.

Persey (who has been there twice and shall return)

As someone said on another thread, they have let the office junior loose. Or perhaps the work experience chappie or lassie.
We still have the green paisley background.
Are we a lot of conservative old fogies?
Persey, Cradle Mountain and Lake are indeed beautiful. Not sure if I will return though. I would like to see Port Arthur, though. So beautiful and so sad.

Persephone Report 19 Nov 2010 06:32

Port Arthur is a fantastic place but as you say so very sad.... to have something like that happen to tarnish such a wonderful historical place.

Aramoana here was just a lovely little seaside place here and now you cannot go there without feeling very sad about it all.

I am doing my thread participation for today.

Hi Barbara, as you say the miners situation doesn't look good.
There is hope though in that they were probably a long way from the explosion. Unfortunately they were working in different areas in the mine. It was not excessively deep, unlike Chile, but a long way in. We should know in a day or two when a small drill hole reaches the area they should be in to test the air down there.
I have heard about the Tamborine Mountain (spelling?) area but haven't been there. The other place I don't know at all. Not sure that 1 million dollars would buy you an apartment on the Gold Coast, the area Tamborine Mountain is behind. They call it the hinterland, which seems to be a word peculiar to Queensland.
Of course, apartments in many areas are much less than that, but like with houses everyone wants the biggest one they can find, with marble bench-tops, gold plated taps and a bathroom or at least a toilet for every bedroom.

Allan its been a pleasure keeping it up for you . . what have you been doing without you comp ??

Allan

Allan Report 30 Nov 2010 23:04

Surviving, Babra, surviving.

Its amazing but both OH and myself have missed being without it.

Considering that we only bought one many years ago when our children were at school (although we did start out with a commodore64 for games etc) so that they could get on the internet to do research and type their assignments, I never thought that we would become hooked!

Tragic, isn't it!
