SRN there isnt such a thing, lets be correct ........misogynist.

It was phased out in the early 1980s when ""we ""were all then RN with a pin.........SEN hasnt been a title since that.

BTW,,EN dont have a problem within the nursing profession they are part of a diverse valued requirement within the NHS .and more retentive than an RN.

****The SRN and RN - are synonymous, only the ENs have any problems getting work****came from this site.

Shouldn't that have a 'b' in it?

It should have, that's why I referred to the Beano ;-)

Is that a niece or neice?
What relation is a neice?
My sister in law is a Sister on a heart ward. She trained here, and stayed here.
A lot of NHS money is spent on training people who then bugger off for more money..
If you were trained (for free, as it was) by the NHS, I feel you should give at least 5 years of work back to the country, or else you are a major contributor in the 'failure of the NHS, and should be ashamed.

Ahhh the Beano.......maybe that's someone's Bible....

Totally agree on the getting trained then buggering off for more money.

Rollo...my dear old Mum always told us as kids don't try and win an argument by calling others names or swearing...both show your lack of intelligence

My eldest started project 2000 but gave up the course after 18 months.

Not allowed to use own initiative, everything by rote. No comforting a distressed baby when she was on placement (the child would expect it every time it cried). No chatting with patients (work would suffer). No speaking in any language other than English (this was in Swansea).

Totally demoralised she phoned us crying asking to be collected from the nurses' residence.

Her next patients were already dead (podiatry - removing tendons and ligaments from the deceased) they didn't need talking to or comforting ;-)

That's such a shame, Sue. A sign of 'management' interfering with reality.
The 'we've got the degree, read the recommended books, but never been on the front line' mob. Paid too much money to mouth off 'academic' bullsh*t.

Caroline, I learnt to read before I started school, using the Beano and Dandy :-D :-D

My mate, who was coming far to close to double figures with children, was in hospital having given birth to her umpteenth. She had bottle fed all her children and was happily bottle feeding this one but the young lady with her first in the same ward had elected to breast feed.

She was having huge difficulty but the nurses were adamant that she must persevere and not give the child a bottle. My mate, tired and quite distressed by hearing the cries of a very hungry baby disturbing her own satiated child, made up a bottle and fed the child herself.

She had been there, had all the instincts in place and wasn't taking any shot from anybody!
