Elaine I have a method I used years ago at my worst.

whatever it is that is worrying you.... think about it, and fix it in your imagination.

If it is money... you win the lottery, auntie Ada leaves you two million.... whatever.
You will start by paying the bills, the whatever it is you have always wanted..... you will be asleep before you can spend very much.

Need a holiday? invent one....
Whatever it is.

Please believe me... it works.
have a good sleep love.x

Has anyone tried breathing exercises for anxiety? thought this might be of help to those that suffer with panic attacks and anxiety.
i was given a leaflet for this when i suffered from panic attacks shortly after my daughter was born. it really helped especially at night time, all it is if you feel a panic coming on breath in and out a few times concentrating on your breathing and nothing else then breath in as much as you can through your nose hold it for a few seconds then breath out slowly through your mouth do this a few times until you feel relaxed.
Sorry if ive not worded this right and please excuse the spelling.

Hello everyone, and welcome Gill, or have you been on before and I've missed you. Had a long day at hospital, in fact just nicely got home and had a baked potato with onion and tomato sauce filling topped with cheese, scrumptious. Hubby does do good ones.
Can I say to Carolina, I let out a cheer when I read you had been laughing, I am so proud of you because you were so scared at first and it was so hard for you. To read that you had been playing with your son makes this thread worth it's weight in gold. Did you get the photo by the way?
This thread is moving too quickly for me now and I can't keep up so please excuse if I miss people out.
I'm pleased to see you Deanna and glad you are feeling a little better, I'm too tired now but will pm you tomorrow, Jules and Carole, the same, Mary and oh you know who you are. Loads to catch up on.
Twinkle, my friend was like you say and she found she had an overactive thyroid, have you had it checked out? When you are out, take deep breaths and try and imagine gorgeous young men with no clothes on. Someone told me to do that and I laughed, but I sneaked a try in and forgot to panic, it takes your mind off worrying when you have to find the next guy.
Oh Ann thanks for your card it was lovely and restful, I sat and watched the water for ages. Better go before hubby comes in, don't want him to know I look at young men lol.

Hi Gill, we have some great people on here, even during the night so anytime you want to rant or rave to get things off your chest someones there to listen. It does help and we have had some lovely stories of courage as well as a lot of laughs.

My mood should improve now, I have just heard that the charges for which I was to go to court this afternoon, total nonsense, have been withdrawn after 2 years. My neighbour fild a complaint because there was a small hole in the fence cover - caused by the wind.(The neighbour thought our little dog would reach one of her children through the fence!!) This has dragged on for almost 3 years and caused a lot of extra anxiety, and legal costs. We went to court on Monday and as someone didn't show up, were told to come back today for "trial".
It's over, finally over, we've moved away from that area and hopefully now can get on with our lives.

A very good evening to all my soul mates xxx
we really are a bunch of fighters and would not go amiss in the gladiator arena's of old..... me, well the lion or whoever would take one look and drop down dead through laughter..lol.

I also, and on the eve of my hospital test, erupted into a full blown panic attack......Malc.. you are not alone and sorry to hear you had one...if it's any consolation they only happen to the nicest people....

Was picked up by ambulance at 10am, reached test area at 11am..20 minutes for test, all okay then home to sleep....

As some of you might know this test was the last in a series of three... won't count the other previous 40 odd done!

Consulant will decide now whether to operate or not, my appointment with him being 9th April unless he pulls it forward?..........glad it was not the 1st April, then he would have been pulling something. lol.

Could not natter to you last night because once again my computer decided it was not feeling too well and crashed on me.

To each and everyone of you I send my love and hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Catch you all later.

Thats ok then l hate cooking:o)))

There are all sorts of vol work, depends on what you like. Animals, Third world, The cancer charities or simular, Hospice etc. They don't just need people to work in the shops, they may need drivers for collections, storemen in their warehouses, d i y people, but probably they would need certificates etc ermmm - not far from us we have a Horse sanctuary, l cry everytime l visit - but places like that may need grooms, general help around the stables and yards. RSPCA and simular have people go round house checking for future homes etc. - you may find more through your local library or on the net:o))

just some ideas there though:o)) l help out at Red cross, but not been in for ages, l'm more of a better weather person:o)

Hi all - remember David that hospitals need volunteers in lots of departments - at our local big teaching hospital they have people who act as guides for visitors or patients who are looking for a particular department. My pal is Voluntary Services Co-ordinator for our local psychiatric hospital and she places volunteers on wards and in other patient areas where they can do things staff just don't have time to spare.

Lovely to read thread up to date tonight. Lots of good news!! ~~~~~~to you all.

A relaxation I was told at one of my mental health counciling sesions is this........
Start by tensing up your toes tight, hold for five seconds, then relax for five seconds. Next tense your calfs five sec's, then relax then five secs. Tense your knees hold 5 secs, relax. Tense your thighs 5 secs, relax. move up tensing bottom, body, fingers, fists, arms mouth face head relax after each then relax repeat if you feel like it.

Or....
Lie somewhere comfortable
Imagine yourself on a warm beach, listen to the water gently lapping onto the beach. Quietly splashing on rocks. The sky is blue, fluffy clouds float by. Birds are hanging motionless in the air their calls just loud enough for you to hear. Your cold drink is next to you, with that georgous man!! :o)
he says are you ready? You turn to him (and carry on your self what happens next you could go back to a cottage where lunch is set, or go for a cool swim, or whatever!!!!!) and say .........I'm usually asleep by now lol xx
Try it tonight xxx
