Hi Alison, I'm shocked at your new's hun and can only admire you for your courage. I don't know exactly what to say other than we are all here if you need us, you are a fighter and your mum was right to say you are a little toughie I am praying that you and your family stay strong and keep positive, miracle's do happen and I truely believe that.
(((((((((( big big hug's )))))))))) to you OH and your kid's, and you are beautiful ( in mind and spirit ) as well as look's because some-one who can face this has to be a beautiful person ( as you are doing ).
Well that's enough from me on the matter, from a positive side now, are you starting to think about what you are going to get your family for christmas, or do you leave the start of buying till December as I do.

Hi to all the other's on here, hope your

all fine and you had a nice day or good sleep.

Thanks guys.

Up early because I can't sleep - was planning my funeral in my mind, so time to get up methinks!

Linda, thank you for your PM, I felt quite touched by your words and also heartened by your friend Chris's story. I know you're getting ready to sell your Mum's house, Linda. We can finally put my Dad's on the market, but it needs a good clean out. I'm now feeling a bit anxious as I want it done, so that I can put money aside for my lads.

Thank you to everyone for your support - I'm too lazy to name you all, but I mean "you all."

Let me be the first to say that I have had a *gutful* of cancer!

I'm so witty......no.......really!

Alison my dad died four years ago and he was a real "shed" man. We had been plodding along trying to sort stuff out, but with needing to put the house on the market we just had to knuckle down to it. OH has been a brick, poor bloke worked so hard to clear out the garage, workshop and two sheds, not forgetting the loft. The rest of the inside of the house has not been bad because like me, mum was a tidy person. she had been filling charity bags for ages, getting rid of all sorts she didn't need or want. I have cleared out a lot, but there is still lots of stuff there. The house is nice and presentable to sell, however long that will take, so eventually once we need to empty it, it shouldn't be too bad - well that is what I am telling myself anyway.

Don't be doing too much yourself, just sit back and organise every one else.

Hey Linda,

Yes, my Dad, being an old bushie, was a shed man also. Mum died 8 years ago and housework was not Dad's forte`. He used his gardening blower/vac to clean his floors - get the idea?!!! Dad lived about an hour north of Brisbane and my sister lives about 10 mins away from his house, so it will all fall to her. My poor husband had to travel the 400 odd kms a couple of times and clean out the shed as he knew what was good and what was junk, plus Dad had said that all his stuff was for my husband. He had 3 chainsaws for crying out loud!!! Lots of stuff - or to my husband - treasures!

Thanks Barbra,

You'll be busy Sunday night then, settling in your new family member. Have you got a name in mind yet?

Driving through Scotland sounds lovely. Green grass - mmmmm - ours is brown!

LindainHerriotCountry Report 6 Nov 2009 20:30

Alison my husband always tries to call dads collections junk. The problem is that whenever he needed anything, you could bet your bottom dollar that dad would have something suitable.

I must admit, that housework wasn't my dads forte either, but to give him his due, he di know how to use the vac.

Have a good night. Guess the others will be on soon. Hope Mrs Tec is ok, seeing as there's no Tec yet.

Have something nice for breakfast Alison. It is supper time here,so I might go and make some. I have been looking up some things for a contact in Australia. I went and found some headstones for her last year as we have an ancestor in common.

Gipsy is a beaut name! When Dad died, we "inherited" his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that he took on a few months earlier. Dad had not long lost Mac, who was actually Mum's dog. Mac helped Dad with his grief and they were best mates. The vet had this Cavi who needed a home and he thought of Dad. Dad went over to the vets "just to have a look" and brought the dog home. So, now Harry is ours. My youngest loves him to bits and cuddles him constantly, whether the dog wants to or not! My oldest boy is Harry's favourite. He sleeps with him and my husband just loves Harry. The dog gets a lot of loving!!

I was going wasn't I? Didn't want to be rude though, so thought I'd answer your question, Barbra.

Bye Now!

Alison

Alison Report 6 Nov 2009 20:55

Bye Linda and thank you.

Enjoy your supper.

Hi Everyone.........

Alison, Just catching up on posts, got to the top, and there you were off to breakfast - anything nice?
A guy needs three chain saws, the one you're currently using, the one that's in the repair shop because you messed it up last time, and the spare to use when you mess up the current one, and haven't fetched the other one back from the repair shop. Does that make sense? Does to me!

Linda, I have a wondrous collection of junk. Never throw anything away. I have remnants of every job I've done refurbishing this house, and I've been at it non-stop for 15 yrs. I also have six electric drills, three sanders, three electric planes, three routers, and boxes and boxes of tools.

Barbra, Hope your trip South goes well to collect your new dog, and I hope they get on ok. The weather is supposed to be better on Sunday, it has been very wet here today again.

Diane, I am refusing to discuss, acknowledge, or even think about Christmas until 21st December.

Tec.

bye Alison enjoy your brekkie hun

Hi Barbra, hope the dog's get on, my two did as the older one who was 8yrs was like a mother to the new pup 4mth's, even though when he was fully grown he was half the size again of the older dog he excepted that she was top dog and alway's allowed her first choice and alway's came for attention behind her. It was sad when she died to see him mopeing around wondering where she was and used to get her blanket out of kennel for her to lie on and then come to the back door and whine for her, he did that for about 2mth's.

Hi Linda,my dad's like that even to the point of keeping thing's in every jacket pocket, bit's and pieces like paper clip's, elastic band's, screw's and nut's, all of which he had picked up in street or somewhere else while he was out. You should have seen all the stuff I emptied out of his pocket's from about 4 bag's of old clothe's of his. He used to work for himself so had to keep receipt's, I was clearing all his old paper work only about 3mth's ago and found receipt's from as far back as 1959, had a giggle when I saw how cheap B+B and petrol was then.

Good morning Alison, here I am late as usual.

I'm sorry to hear your news, definitely not the results that you wanted.

However I have you pictured in my mind's eye as a true battler who will not give up in a fight. Also your positive attitude will be an enormous asset.

Good morning /evening all,

Well after Alison's news I'm not sure what to say.

I was going to spruke on about the great escape, but somehow that now seems inappropriate.

We finally got one pathetic little storm yesterday which must have been embarrassed by its efforts.

Also a rather spectacular sight on the Leschenault Inlet over the last few days.....hundreds of Black Swans. The Black Swan is one of the emblems of WA and the inlet is one of their breeding areas

Good evening, Barbra and Diane

As Tec and I are soon going to be absconders, how about the two Runnies?

I don't leave my Christmas shopping to the last minute, I don't do any!!

I usually say to my family "buy me a present the reflects how much you think about me"

Each year I end up with nothing!!
