SueMaid Report 21 Nov 2009 08:42

Good evening/morning all.

We've been busy today washing, cutting lawns and settling back into normal life..."sigh". It doesn't take long to get back into a routine but at least we get back into it feeling relaxed and rested.

Can someone tell me where Diane is? I do hope she's well but I can see she hasn't posted for quite awhile. If you're looking in Diane I'm thinking of you.

Tec, hope all is well with you. I was quite worried when you didn't come on this morning (our time). Hope your lady is well.

Everyone must be busy this weekend as it's so quiet. Even Allan didn't get on till late. I was concerned about you too, Allan. It isn't like you to be late.

I'm off to sort son's dinner out. He's working late tonight but he rang not long ago to see what we are having for tea and was very happy when I told him I'd made lasagne. He's probably eaten a lot of take-away while we've been away:-))

Well, hopefully I will see you all soon.

So you mowed your lawn Sue and here's me thinking you would be making hay while the sun shines.

Allan is having computer problems - it could end up in the wheelie.

Alison - how did you day go with your distant rellie? CB has been at it again.... I said how come your side of the bedroom is always so messy - I have to clean up before I can even start dusting and vacuuming. His reply was that I was obviously not fussy who I slept with.

Well think I will go and have a read for awhile, fiddled around with the tree in Genes - and the threads are quiet.

Perse.

Gees thanks Sue

When my kids ask me what I want for Christmas this year, I was going to say : to be twenty again.

B***er I thought there was a Santa - disillusioned again.

I have been reading Tony's Convict thread - which included contributions from Granny Gail in her red slippers - was very interesting, having visited Port Arthur and Richmond Gaols in Tassie and the Women's jail as well whilst over there.

cheers

Perse

Just a quick hello. Been busy.
I worked today, mostly in open sun. Collecting soil samples after the grader had taken the contaminated soil off. Aim- to check that all the contaminated soil has been removed and the sub soil is clean. It isn't heavy work but I am glad it wasn't scheduled for tomorrow. The breeze once it came up was helpful, but it was hot.
I don't want to be 20 again. It was a relatively miserable time. Last year of uni, conscription threat and a difficult home situation. Now if I could be 23 again ...
I haven't read Tony's convict thread. Which board is it on? No need to nudge it up. I will find it.
Colin.

G'day Perse.

Lovely little town is Richmond.
The better alf's family hail from there. Jerusalem,Colebrook, Richmond ( convicts ) Her Great, great, Convict grandies are buried at St Patricks RC Cemetery in Colebrook ( next town up from Richmond ) and a few buried at St. Johns Cem in Richmond.
Her 3 x great Aunt Ellen met her death on the Richmond bridge in 1874 *Killed by a wagon load of timber that fell * crushing her as she walked across the bridge on her way up to the church ( Richmond Courier newspaper of the time) Her great, great had a run in with Tassie's Martin Cash ( Bushranger aka convict ) Lots of history on her side of the F.Tree

Nice little cafe in the main street of Richmond make some lovely home made tucker.

Welcome Tony!

I also enjoyed reading your Convict thread, that was some letter about your ancestors.
Its pouring rain on this side of Melbourne, you will more than likely get more rain... than we do in the west!

Sue..I read in our Saturday's paper that Wales and other parts of the UK are still having really bad weather at the moment, I hope Tec's ok.

The kids really enjoyed that movie last night we didn't get home until after midnight, I almost fell asleep watching, it was a good thing I had my girlfriend sitting beside me or else I would've been sprung!!!! Thank god I don't snore???

I hope Linda is enjoying her time in London, I'd love to visit there again some day:-)))

Hello Berona and Persey:-)))

G'day to Colin and Carole.

Pouring in Melb at the mo. Getting some nice rain last two days after a spell of warm weather.

Hope you enjoyed reading the Convict thread.

Dont post as many threads as i used to back in 2004 - 5
Dont really find the time these days. To busy trying to keep up with the various net forums i belong to as it is.

When i visit GR i am mostly on the "Trying to find "board or "surname" - "History board" - "Records office" trying to help peeps find long lost relos in Oz. Occasionally drop in on the Wattlers thread on General.

Been researching for approx 40 odd years now, and carry most Ozzie BDM's cd's....and have about 200 or so Ozzie F.H links tucked away in my puter, so if anyone needs something checked down under...just 'Holla'

Have a great weekend to all.

Tony....:>)) * Best go take my V.B tablet*

So this is where you all get to late at night! I always check this thread before closing down at night, but apparently I do it too early!
Welcome Tony - I have seen your posts on other threads and have read your convict thread. So far, I can find only one rello who came out as a convict - but I haven't completed any tree yet.
Might take you up on your offer later on behalf of another member I was helping. Her family seems to have dropped out of the sky in 1904 with all records - but nothing prior to that, so I'll get back to you on that, if you don't mind.

Anyone heard how Diane is? I have put a query on her thread.

Hope Tec is OK. I suppose he will get back to us when the roof stops leaking!

Good morning, afternoon, evening all

I just posted a message, pressed submit and it whizzed off to heaven knows where!

Had a good day yesterday at the garage sales and then went to our daughter's place to remove a standard rose.

My daughter was just going to throw it out but we said that we would have it and transplant it into our rose bed.

That has now been done and we will wait anxiously to see if it takes

Just to let you know that Tec's Duchess has been unwell but is on the mend. Hopefully we will see Tec before long. Love to you and the Duchess if you're looking in, Tec.

We're shaping up for a hot day today. Supposedly around 36 degs. Yesterday was uncomfortable but bearable - mainly the humidity which I find hard to cope with at times.

We're visiting the grandkids this evening. Can't wait to see them. Apparently they've missed us and have been constantly asking to visit us. They are a little young to understand the concept of "holidays". Our grandson in Hobart is only now starting to understand why he can't just go over to grandma's house in the same way he visits his Nonna. Also why we don't visit often. His mum and dad make a big thing of us visiting so he get so excited when we arrive especially seeing the plane land.

Hello, Allan. Hope your rose takes hold ok. Did you do what I do and buy lots of books at the garage sales? I come home with way too many. When we were away I found a couple of Val McDermid books for a dollar each. They were the books that the series Wire in the Blood are based on. Have you seen the show?

Morning - well late morning.

Tec - Sorry to hear that the Duchess has been feeling ill - but know you will be the ever so helpful nursemaid. Love to see you when you come off duty. Thought the inclement weather you have been having up in Wales might've prevented you from computing.

Berona - not sure I will tell him this bit about him knowing how to handle me - could lead to ......

Sue - wish I was in Hobart - but then I am always thinking that - it is such a welcome haven of a place. Our nicest place to fly into here is Queenstown it is so lovely coming down through the hills it an absolute treasure - but I don't particularly like the place itself, too too touristy. It was really nice in the sixties - and now it is just high rise appartments and hotels around the lake.

Allan - I've looked under my computer table here and your message has not wooshed in, it isn't lying on the floor - in fact there are no papers lying around in here. Wonders will never cease. Hope your rose takes well sometimes they can get in a tizz and not bother.

Cheers

Perse

Wire in the Blood - I liked that series Sue - at the moment we have Robson Green fishing all around the world.
I don't think we will ever stop buying books - cannot resist them. We bought another bookshelf yesterday on Trade Me. My daughter calls me the Librarian as I have tried to categorise them similar to the Dewey System.

Hello Persey:-)) We've been to Hobart many times and know it quite well now. A couple of years back we went on a big trip. Took the Spirit of Tassie over the pond and drove from Devonport down to Hobart. We spent just over a week with the family then toured up the east coast before going across to Launceston. We based ourselves there for a week - cruising the Tamar, visiting the Gorge. We visited Cradle Mountain and also Beaconsfield where the miners were trapped for such a long time. The countryside is just so beautiful. A lot of people say it's like England but - except for the climate - I find Tassie to be unique and very different to the mainland. We love Richmond but if you get the chance to see Ross that too is lovely.

Sue xx

Edit - we have so many books we're running out of space. Add to that the fact that our daughter's partner is part owner of a book store so we get a discount and sometimes freebies. What chance do we have.
