Allan.......... The hole was an opportunity to have a beautiful water feature in the garden, a fountain and the sound of tinkling water is very soothing.

I spent over an hour talking to the technical services dept of my ISP a while back. Unfortunately it is a call centre in India, the guy really did try to help, but try as I did, I had great difficulty understanding the accent, so no help at all in the end.

Sue, The Beach Boys were a great bunch of lads, as you say, very funny, clean cut and polite to everyone. Bet you've not washed that hand since

Well it is well over due, 8wks to be precise, but better late than never, keeping finger's crossed employer doesn't get sick in the mean time as his mum won't let him go on restbite if he's sick, mind you it wouldn't be right to send him to some-one else if he is ill.

Good evening, good morning all. Where is everybody else????

Another mild day coming up - with showers forecast again - but that means nothing here. We get quite a shock when it does try to rain.

Tec - I'm so glad the duchess is feeling better and is back home. Now, it's your turn to rest - those trips take it out of you.

Allan - is there a chance your ISP can replace the modem for you? You could try! No harm in asking. We can't do without your humour for very long. I was about to ask on another thread "is it Mrs.Cratchley or Mr.Scratchley" when I found you had already beaten me to it! Great minds think alike!

Sue now you tell us you have hob-nobbed with celebrities in the past as well??? Is the any more you haven't told us about? I have been trying to think back to see if I've ever met a celebrity. If I have, I've forgotten about it, so they couldn't have been very important! I do remember that when a certain Madam was kicked out of Kings Cross, she came to live near us (in her retirement). Would that count?

Diane - so pleased for you. Yes, I have been asking about you. We were wondering if all was OK. Your week off is good news indeed. Make the most of it!

Good Morning Berona,
Hope you have done your 50 press-ups this morning, you've got to stay in shape you know.

I was thinking of letting myself go - but I've already gone!

Funny isn't it, that driving was so tiring - once I would have eaten that distance and not thought about it. Used to do a 500 mile round trip to London in a day, no problem. Am I getting old do you think?

Allan is bound to respond to that.............

Allan Report 23 Nov 2009 22:14

Diane, Fantastic news.

Berona, the modem I've got was originally supplied by iinet (my ISP) and came with all the settings applied so it was just a case of plugging it in and disabling the dial up. I'll try them first but there is a great computer shop in Bunbury from where I have purchase my last few systems. The staff there are also very helpful

Tec, we've already removed one water feature, my daughter's frog pond. We also have a pond on the lower level but that has now been taken over by tadpoles. Our last goldfish mysteriously disappeared a while ago. I think that a bird got it.

Hello to Persey

"You are Old, Father William," the youg man said,
"And your hair is uncommonly white,
Yet you persist to stand on your head:
Tell me, is this right?"

Tec you and I both. When I was younger, travelling from Leonora to Perth in a day never bothered me, now a return trip to Perth fills me with dread.

Sorry, Tec - he hasn't sung that but he's singing Good Vibrations and his voice is still magical.

Berona - am I name dropping:-)) Do you remember Daddy Cool? Well I went to their concert when I was about 17. They were singing Eagle Rock. My friend and I were dancing and Ross Wilson jumped off the stage and danced with us. When I told my Dad he told me he thought I'd been brought up better than that and that that was "not the way a young lady behaves".

Oh Tec - I'm still laughing at your first comment. Me - want to STAY in shape? Ho ho ha ha ha! What have I done to deserve that? No! I don't want to stay in shape - I want to change the shape!!! a lot!

I didn't really let myself go - it just went without asking! Hasn't come back yet either.

Are you getting old? Nah - never! Your body may be getting old - but you're not! When I'm sitting down, I feel as agile as I was when I used to run around the tennis courts, or netball courts. Then I stand up and start walking and I come down to earth. Pity there are no courts around here - well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Where's Persey? I haven't seen her today..
She accused me of sitting on her OHs knee yesterday, and him with a sore foot, poor guy...........

Allan, Hope that goldfish wasn't served up with chips for your tea!

I feel young most of the time but half an hour with the grandkids reminds me that the body is wearing out. Then I look at my mum who is nearly 76 and as active as can be and very healthy. I want to be like that in 20 years:-))

I'm off for the day, folks. Enjoy your evening/day and see you later.

Morning all.

Glad to hear Duchess on the mend - fancy having a chopper experience and not being able to enjoy it. What would we do without helicopters eh? I am a great supporter of them as Curmudgeon will tell you.

Diane - well that is good news 7 lie ins eh - hope that doesn’t tire you out? Christmas shopping – yes it is on the list of things to do.

Sue & The Beach Boys - Didn’t Glenn Campbell start with them? He has just been here and caused mayhem as he only sang one song and quit because he had laryngitis, when asked if the fans would get a refund he said well my daughters performed and I performed. People didn’t pay $95.00 odd to see his daughters. On the other hand Sue they are good and used to do the theme tunes of a couple of American sit coms back in the sixties. Jan and Dean were another two that sang in a similar style.

Like you Berona I was racking my brains to see if I had met anyone famous – and I sat next to Buffy Saint Marie once - I didn’t recognise her it was OH that did. And Jon Pertwee came into my bookshop – my Dr Who book customers were dead jealous. He used to come to NZ and stay with a mate he was in the navy with and this mate was a regular in my shop so brought Jon to meet me. He is a lot taller than I thought.

Oh Allan – dial up is so so sooooo yesterday, it takes ages to even get to the right page on Genes. My daughter rang just now, so I was able to chat, type and eat my toast – Broadband is great.. LOL

Blimmin heck they all start to leave by the time I have read everything.
