Tec, Ray Martin is - and has been for years - a personality on Aussie television. He had his own day-time show for years where he interviewed many people such as politicians, actors and other newsworthy people. Most of his work has been reporting on often controversial items and current affairs. He is very much liked by a lot of people.

Ho! Tec and Diane back at the same time. Welcome, welcome! We have been concerned about both of you.

Diane - have you been overdoing it? All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy - not good for Diane either! Take care.

Tec - How is the duchess? Must have been a bigger scare than usual for her to be in hospital. Hope she is improving and able to return home very soon. I know what it is like when you are visiting hospital every possible chance you get. Very tiring, and yet, you wouldn't think of not doing it. I am only 10 minutes away from Westmead hospital and I have found that very exhausting - and you have so far to go! You must feel that you are always in the car! Never mind. Hopefully, you will soon have her home and you can don your nurse's apron and look after her yourself. Wish her all the best from me, will you?

Allan - throw a lot of shrimps on the barbie - I like prawns! I also like steak, chops and sausages - although not all at once - but you can serve up what you like - I'll be there!!!

Thanks Sue -
So you'll be hob-knobbing with the rich and famous,
don't let it change you - we had enough trouble when you were a radio star

Oh Sue - Lucky you, meeting Ray Martin. I have seen his book in my catalogues but haven't bought it as yet. I'm not buying much at the moment, still having problems with the parcel post delivery man. I'm staying home all I can and checking my mailbox daily, while I wait for delivery of the last book I ordered. If this one doesn't get delivered to my door, I will be making myself heard at Australia Post!

Hi Berona,
Duchess much better now - will see Consultant tomorrow. They air lifted her into hospital on Friday morning in a diabetic coma - nothing I could do to help this time.
When she regained consciousness and realised she had gone by air, she said to me
"I've waited all my life to fly in a helicopter - the only chance I get, trust me to be bl**dy unconscious"

So I've promised to arrange a flight in the summer, when she is conscious.

Oh, how awful! Poor dear - I do feel sorry for her. I would feel just the same if it happened to me. Fancy doing a trip like that and not knowing about it!...How disappointing......You'd better keep your promise!

SueMaid Report 22 Nov 2009 23:16

Poor Duchess. You certainly owe your lady a helicopter flight:-))

I must love you and leave you. It is so nice to see everyone posting - it's been so quiet over the weekend. Love to you all.

'bye Sue. Enjoy your meeting with Ray!

I must go and get some work done. I've been slack to-day because it was so cool, I didn't have to race around and get everything done before it got too hot!

Good night Tec and Diane. Take care both of you.

Allan - D really does stand for Dog. I don't cheat. Enjoy your day. Better start on the barbie so that it will be ready for us. \

Perse - talk to you later. Anyone else? Apologies if I missed anyone - it's old age - I always use that one.

I am in Linda's bad books at the moment and she posted an uncomplimentary comment on this thread that rather took me by surprise. I have tried to stay out of the way since then.
I have PM'd her but she may still be away in London.
All well at present.

Greetings all:-))

Perse..You'll have to tell me more about your owl collection, interesting birds, I like them because they have mice as part of their diet. I have a real fear of mice, mostly when they are inside my house!!

Tec..So sorry to hear your lovely Duchess has been ill and in hospital, I hope she has a speedy recovery and is back home with you soon.
Sending ((((((hugs))))) to you both xx

Sue...How lucky are you:-)) You will have to tell us all about your meeting with Ray Martin. Hopefully I will get his book in my Christmas stocking this year.
I'm glad you have cooler weather in NSW, those fires up there have been a real worry. I hope Gail and her family are all safe!!!

Allan..Chuck a few more prawns on the barbie:-))
We have that fake grass around our pool area, its the only grass we have that's not brown!!!

Diane...I hope you get your computer sorted:-)) Stay well and take care, Hun xx

Alison...Hope you are well, sending ((((hugs))) to you and your family xx

Berona...Don't work to hard, its ok to have a slack day, the heat takes a lot out of you.

We had lots of rain here over the weekend (sorry NSW and QLD), almost a months supply!!!
I took my daughter for her weekly horse riding lesson yesterday, there is a creek on the property were we go which I has always been dry. It now has running water! I wish I'd had my camera with me. It was just so amazing!!!!

Hello to Colin, Janet, Pat and Linda :-)))
So sorry if I've missed anyone:-)))))

Enjoy your day Aussies and Kiwis.
Sleep well everyone

My family are safe and well from the bush fires. We are at home and so grateful to all who were fighting these fires. They are my heroes.

It was touch and go for many who live here. No lives were lost.

Sydneybloke Report 23 Nov 2009 02:26

Just adding to Gail's message. In large towns and cities in our state we have the NSW Fire Brigade, a professional organisation with paid employees.
In the smaller towns and villages we have the Rural Fire Service (RFS), formerly the Royal Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade. The fire fighters are volunteers.
They have to raise funds themselves as well as be on call to fight fires. They are exceptionally well trained and words cannot express how I feel about them. Of course, I live in the city but my sisters live in areas served by the RFS. They and their equivalents in the other states deserve the greatest respect.
