Howdy Folks...

Hope you are all enjoying your Wednesday.

I am really enjoying this course that i am doing at the moment. Its only for three days so it leaves me enough time to get my homely and mum duties done also.

The only thing is that I love to read and keep buying books but never have the chance to read...there is usually too much going on around the home or when its quite I try to then end up nodding off to sleep...lol. I have a bookcase full of books that i have not read yet :(. I also like to watch a good movie and have over three hundred movies of all types so sometimes thats what happens.

Does anyone remember the series 7up that was on tele quite awhile ago?

Thank you, Linda, for the explanation on the allotments. I have often wondered about them. Good idea for people with small or no gardens. I can't imagine not having pilfering if we had them here - but then, a lot of Aussies are descended from the convicts, aren't they? LOL.

You are probably right about the type of people who would be thieves - they wouldn't know what a square meal was - never home and eating take-away - but I know of some who would steal it to sell it - or wreck the garden just to be destructive. I'm glad to know you don't have that kind of problem.

Good evening/morning all

I'm not normally on here at this time of day but what the h*ll.

Janet, rain here also but with some sunny periods..now back to rain. Have you checked out the Denmark site yet? You may be able to organise accommodation through it

Berona, your comment in that thread, in a time long ago, was absolutely spot on and didn't cause any offense, but did give me cause to think.

Carolee, as SueMaid would say....please don't encourage my attempts at humour, they can become far worse!

SueMaid, if I was telling you off then my tongue was firmly in my cheek!

Linda, I remember Allotments from when I lived in the UK. I thought that they had all but died out. It is nice to know that they are still in existence, and are used by people who appreciate them.

Welcome to Ann, and G'day to Colin. Methinks that the talk is of a little red-breasted bird!

Regards to you all

Hi Folks........Down Under........Up Top

COUNTRY MOUSE SCURRIES OUT OF THE CITY..........

TAIL BETWEEN HIS LEGS..........CRINGING............

HEADS FOR THE HILLS & SANITY..........

IT'S A JUNGLE OUT THERE!

I'm back..........Hope you are all well and have been behaving in my absence. Have read all the interesting posts since I left...........
Hello to the new folk on the thread. Good to meet you.
We were so lucky with the weather - baking hot except for one day., and we were so naughty - caused by the novelty of finding shops of all sorts.
The bank balance has taken a serious dent - just as well we are not let loose very often, but it was fun.
OH was doing her Christmas shopping - in August?
I hit the DIY stores big time - and actually bought some new clothes. I hope you will all be impressed by the new sartorial elegance that is the new me - scarecrow look is out.
I was, as I expected, terrorised by the lunatic and aggressive drivers in the city. Frequently in the wrong lane, causing mayhem, and some very odd gestures from other drivers. That was a particularly pretty roundabout that we went round three times every day looking for the right exit - the flowers were lovely.
We found ourselves in the City of Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Stoke on Trent, Shrewsbury, and points in between.
Made a change, but it was just magical last night to come over the brow of the hill to see Cardigan Bay gleaming in a perfect sunset.
Now I can unpack all my new toys, and get some serious DIY done.

It is good to be back, and even better to see you all here.

Regards
Tec.

Hello Tec, it is good to see you back safely. My sister lives in deepest Shropshire in a tiny village with roads with passing places. She scares the living daylights out of me when she comes up here. I always insist on driving because she has no concept of other traffic.

I see you wrote "I hit the DIY stores big time - and actually bought some new clothes", so it will be a new pair of overalls then? I am sure they look very fetching.

Mrs Tec sounds a sensible woman, I also bought a couple of Xmas presents while we were away in Berwick last week

I remember the 7up series, I've watched them all from 21up. It seems a long time since I saw the last one, it must be due back soon - how old are they now do you think?

I've just found the answer to my own question - the next series is due to be shown late 2011 - 56 Up!

Hi everyone

Going on the last episode I didnt think that they were going to do another one Fiona as a couple of the 7up starts were not interested. Interesting tho to see them grow up and how their lives changed through out the years.

I have booked for the Xmas break in Denmark Allan...We have another family going as well so should be good.

Hello to everyone else new and dare I say old...:))))
Welcome back Tec !!

Hi Linda............

I suspect that you are being a tiny bit facetious regarding my new clothes.
Even my bright red overalls - that do cut quite a dash - were not from a DIY store, but bear the name of a top Italian Mens Fashion Designer.

Where my Dau lives in Shropshire is really nice - her garden looks out over fields to the Shropshire Union Canal, so you can sit on the patio watching the narrow boats gliding along the canal through the trees.
I needed calming after being traumatised by the traffic.

Hi Janet.......... You may dare to say old - I don't mind. One advantage of being ancient is that one can remember ancestors that younger people only see in old photo's. For example, I can remember my Great Grandmother who was born in 1852 - and my OH Grandmother who was born in 1877. They both lived well into their nineties.
I do not however, remember the Romans being here.

Regards
Tec

Tec,

Welcome back. SueMiad et al have had to put up with my sense of humour and she said my wit was only half funny: I think that the term was "Allan, youre a half-wit" Glad that you and your OH had a good time.

Janet, I think that you will enjoy Denmark: ther are magnificent coastl views in the area, as well as some great spots inland.

Hi to Linda and Fiona

Hello everyone. It's so nice to see you back Tec. We've missed you one here and Allan has been allowed to run wild with his "humour". Just kidding......he's given us a good laugh:)) You must tell more about your stay in the big city - it appears to have had it's good side and bad.

The sun is shining here and it's shaping up to being a lovely day. I'm not going to do much today. I need to recharge my batteries:)) It's my daughter's birthday today but as they've just got back from their holiday we probably won't see her until the weekend. We have 6 birthdays in 4 weeks so it's a busy and expensive time.

Hope you all have a good day and our Brit friends have a good evening.

Good Morning Allan..............

Fancy calling you a half wit.............give these girls an inch - and they'll take a mile. I don't see why us chaps should put up with that kind of abuse. I think sometimes we should stand shoulder to shoulder and make a stand. Show them that we're not just here to be ridiculed. We should command respect.

Do you remember Spike Milligan of The Goons - or is that stretching your memory too far? - none of these bright young things will know who I'm talking about - anyway, your brand of humour rather reminds me of Spike's
offbeat humour - he had Aussie connections I believe.

Regards
Tec.

Don't make us ladies laugh, Tec.......stand shoulder to shoulder indeed:)) There's only two of you and it's a well known fact that most men will quail when given the "LOOK". Come on admit it - you've both surely been given the "LOOK" by your OH's. You would quite often Allan when you tell your jokes in public. That's when my OH gets the "LOOK" most often:))

I would also like proof that anyone on here called you a half-wit, Allan.

Help, Tec.

It's been like this since you went on your travels! I post on a thread and, next thing, both SueMaid and Berona are on there berating me!

Shoulder to shoulder sounds good, although as I am only 5' 7" it may be shoulder to whatever.

Proof, SueMaid, proof...who needs proof! lol

And yes Tec, I remember the Goons. Loved listening to them on the wireless

SueMaid Report 12 Aug 2009 23:29

Tec, you know the LOOK surely. It's that look that women give their men when they've stuck their foot firmly in their mouth or told the same joke for the millionth time. By the way Tec - you've described my morning exactly although the Hunter Valley wine is more for the afternoon. The music, mags and possibly the chocolate will definately be there:))

I also remember the Goons:)
