Good morning everyone...I am not an Aussie but I do have Aussie connections. Does that count? lol I have no-where to go now that the Un interesting thread has gone, so may I sit in here please? lol I shall be very quiet and won't cause you any problems. I shall even give the thread a dust and polish now and then.... xxx

Hi Linda,

Thanks for that. A rele sent me some copies of family group sheets from the Corel? family tree programme and I really liked the way that was set out. She said it was given to her and it was many years old. I haven't been able to find it. I'll certainly give you a yell if I go with the Legacy one and require help (and trust me - I will require help!!) When it comes to technological stuff, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. You could say "F for fick".

I couldn't believe that thread either, Berona. I would never have thought to check if the 2 people posting was actually one, so well done to Gary. It's a little rude and uncalled for I thought, of that fellow, picking someone up on their lay-out of paragraphs. Sheesh.

Oh darn, the site is jumping again. Drives me batty, it does.

Keep well everyone.
Stay beautiful!!!

Edit - my mistake, it was S H Rat who picked up on the double identity.

Does anyone know of a book, or a website, about life in Tasmania from about 1850?

Sydneybloke

Sydneybloke Report 13 Aug 2009 11:41

Fiona / Ruby (now that is confusing). It's set a bit earlier than the 1850s and is Fiction, but the classic is "For The Term Of His Natural Life" by Marcus Clarke, first published in 1874.

Sydneybloke

Sydneybloke Report 13 Aug 2009 12:24

Fiona or is it Ruby: I did a quick Google search with nothing particularly helpful, but it might be worth looking at the Uni of Tasmania website as the uni has a special interest in preserving "Taswegian" literature.

Hello Tec, belated welcome back. Felt a bit uncomfortable with you and Allan- a couple of blokes squaring off against our Sue Maid with the numbers, hope you have both settled down now (after a good night's sleep, Tec).

It would take Sue a lot longer to get to Allan than a couple of hours. Drive to Sydney airport (about an hour), get there at least 30-45 minutes early and a five hour flight. Clear customs in Perth then she has to get to Bunbury or wherever Allan lives. A couple of hours? I don't think so. Just joking about Customs. Doesn't need a passport either. Yet.

Good evening all (Aussie time)

Welcome to all old and new posters on this haven of safety and sanity(?)

SueMaid, I didn't see your other thread but I can take an educated guess at the two identities to whom you refer: one male(?) and one several females.

Tec, take care of your OH, I am also diabetic (type 2 ) but am controlling it by diet and exercise. Not easy and have my off moments.

Sheesh! I promised myself not to get too serious on this thread!

Also saw the thread on Tips Board.....I would have thought that General and Chat would be fair game but the rest of the boards are for the serious posters. I know that I have received much help on those boards

storms forecast for tonight.....not on the boards, but for the South West of WA!

SueMaid Report 13 Aug 2009 12:37

Posh, you are very welcome on this thread:))

I use the Family Tree Program and the version I use is a few years old. But I like it and it is so easy to print Family Reports. I export these to a folder and then it is easy to send it to a contact without opening a whole tree for them to see. I also have my tree on TribalPages. It's extremely easy to use and I've had a couple of people contact me through this site. I have uploaded photos on this site too.

Tec, I hope your wife is feeling better for having had a morning in bed. A couple of days rest will hopefully see her right. I'm sure I can speak for everyone on this thread and ask you to pass on our best wishes.

What strange undercurrents there are on this site. It's not very pleasant out there at the moment:( How strange is it to use two different names on one thread and write as two people. It was so easily picked. One membership number.

I hope our Pommie friends have a great day and good evening to all you Aussies.

Sue xx

Edit - sorry Allan I didn't see you there. No the male you speak of wasn't there but 3 females who thought the thread was there for the purpose of having a slanging match. One person did apologise and I accepted the apology.

Hi Colin

Pasports will be needed soon! people in WA are still muttering about splitting from the Federal system (sorry, I can't spell secession)

In any event, SueMaid also has Berona on her side...a formidable team!

Hello, Colin. You posted while I was typing and I didn't see you. I hope you enjoyed the weather today. I have sat on the verandah in the sun and thoroughly enjoyed it.

It actually takes longer to get to Perth than New Zealand. However you will need the passport and have to go through customs when travelling to New Zealand. I love that we can fly down to Hobart quite often on cheap airfares as we have a son and grandson living there. I flew down one time for $150 return and with no accomodation costs it was a cheap few days - well except for all the stuff I bought for my grandson. That's a grandma's privelege:))

Hi SueMaid

At least this thread, which you started, is a haven of peace and sanctuary and it's nice to be able to post messages of whatever inoffensive nature without the usual verbal gymnastics or personal attacks which occur on other threads.

Bl**dy hijackers!

Janet it's funny you have the big gaps on your posts. I get the jumping around in the reply box but I don't get the gap. Don't stop posting will you. Hope your cold isn't too bad. I'm going out tomorrow night too - I'm going to a charity trivia night. It should be fun:)

Hi, Allan:)) Come on - we'd need a joke to make us smile.

Aww Sue, you so lovely, thanks for the welcome - and don't worry about a spoiled thread, it goes with the territory (or seems to on here) you know I have a very thick skin and it takes alot more than that to rattle me. lol

As some of you know, I tend to flit between threads - spreading my joy. lol So please don't be offended if i don't always reply.

Berona, thanks to you for the welcome also, hopefully I will get to chat to each of you eventually - you never know I may even remember your names at some point - not rudeness, I just have a lot of blonde moments.

Angie xx

Hello, everyone:))

That joke is a really bad one, Allan - but it's so bad it's good:))

I've just taken my OH down to the local golf course for a charity golf day. I got out of the car to help him organise his belongings when two gorgeous young men called out to me saying "wow I haven't seen you for ages". They both came up and gave me a kiss - at this stage I'm feeling pretty good:) Then one told me I was his favourite school canteen lady and the other one reminded him that I was also the football club canteen lady. They then asked me how my boys are as they hadn't seen them around for awhile. I left feeling about 100 y.o. helped by the fact that my daughter turned 35 yesterday. Where on earth do the years go.

The day is shaping up to being another great one - the sun is shining and there is no wind. I intend helping my mum with some of the heavier work in her garden. She has a beautiful garden and she loves working in it - especially since my father passed away. She's as fit as a fiddle but does need help now and then.

Hope everyone has a good day/evening.

Good evening Sue...Yes where do the years go? My youngest is now 19 and in Uni and that's my baby!
I am off to my bed now as I am rather tired. I hope you have a lovely day in the garden with your Mother. Good night xxx
