Hello everyone:))

I can't believe it! I put up a thread commenting on the return to the boards of a friend of mine and it was taken over and used as a place to have a go at each other by a couple of people and a well known nasty. I'm really annoyed. So I'll just stay on here in future I think.

HI Sue,

I saw the thread then it was gone! Was trying to work out what and who is who on here..

xx I actually thought that someone was using your account .

SueMaid Report 13 Aug 2009 03:33

No it was me who put the thread up - and deleted it, Janet. I got an email from a friend who was a member to say she was renewing again and I put a thread up for a laugh. If I'd known it was going to be taken over I wouldn't have put it up. Never mind - you live and learn:)) I've actually received an apology from one of the posters and I accepted it.

Speaking of threads turning, take a look at the one on Tips entitled Genealogy Software. I thought I might get some useful info as I don't have a programme as yet - got an English lesson instead!

No wine, Tec but a book, music and chocolate biscuits - very relaxing. Then I did a bit of work on the computer. Now the grandkids are here after a week away on holiday. We've been looking at the photos and the children have been telling us all about it. Mostly a good day with a little hiccup when I looked on to find someone had spoiled my thread welcoming back Angie. Not to worry:))

Sue xx

By the way Tec - your morning sounds lovely and I have no idea why you repeated yourself.

Hello Angie, and welcome to this thread. We have as many Non-Aussies, Wannabe Aussies, Honorary Aussies (or whatever they like to be called) as we have true Aussies (and even some of those as ex-pat Brits).

This has been a good thread with info being requested and given by both sides of the world. Very entertaining and informative. Hope you like it as we do.

Hi Sue.....

I expect you're having fun with the Grand children, and interesting explanations re the photo's.........

I know what you mean about spoilt threads - that's why I don't bother with posting anywhere else........that's life I suppose.

I've been very active this morning.....up at six......
OH not too well today, so has stayed in bed.........I've been to the beach with the dog..........put a load of washing on......tidied up after unpacking!

Do you think I'll last the day?.........and.........

Hi Berona. Hasn't the weather been glorious today?

Tec - I really feel the word h****w**k is akin the worse of swear words. So no you can't use the word:))) I do hope your OH feels better soon. If the weather is nice a sit in the garden may help.

ok Sue.......I promise not to use that language again lol

I think the past week has caught up with OH.......
She is diabetic on insulin and it knocks her about sometimes,
plus of course she has me to contend with - that can't be easy being married to a maniac....poor woman....

anyway I'm off now to do some jobs about the place (quietly)

hope to catch up with you all later.........Bye

Tec.

It's OK Tec, we allow the for time difference here.

Alison - I have seen the thread on the Tips Board and all I could think was "not another one"! What kind of a person changes their name back and forth so that they can pretend to be two people posting on the one thread? I'm so glad that the other person saw what he was up to.

Personally, I found the information to be very interesting. How it was presented was of no consequence. I had no problems understanding it.

Yes, Sue. To-day has been lovely. I went for a drive and didn't want to come home.

Good morning one and all.
Alison, I haven't looked at the software thread yet, but I use a very good one called Legacy which you can download for free. It is easy to use and has some little training videos to show you how to use it. You can use the free version for ever, but if you like it, you can then pay a one off fee which allows you to produce very fancy charts and book reports extremely easily

I wrote some very simple "how to " instructions for it, to post on another site, I would be most willing to help you out with it if you needed it.

I started my own tree using an old software programme recommended by a friend, but I soon became aware that it was not up to the job. At that point by chance, I helped an Australian gentleman by answering a query on the Tips Board. he sent me a book report from part of his tree,so that I could give him more help. I was really impressed by it,he then helped me to change to Legacy which was the software he was using. The poor long suffering bloke was so patient with me because I was for ever sending him emails asking "How do you...?
That is why once I was reasonably up to speed with it myself I wrote the tips for a wiki on another site.

Having said all this, there are lots of good programmes, many people use Family Tree Maker for instance. I am merely offering my help in case you would like it, but am not pushing this software over any other

Tec, you are making me feel idle,so I had better follow in your footsteps and do some jobs, not that I am looking over your shoulder to make sure that you have done them correctly of course.

Allan what can I say, other than - I am taller than you
