I am happily researching in Vctoria tonight,so maybe some of the warmth will rub off

Good morning Sue,

Linda, the only wind that has affected us is my flatulence :0))

if the cyclones take their normal path we are not affected. However if they track further south, over the ocean and then hit the coast, yes, we can have very strong winds and high rainfall.

Thankfully that does not happen all that often

Hello, Allan. I've been watching the news on the cyclone with interest. I don't know which is worse - the cyclone or the volcano erupting in the Phillipines. Hope your lady feels better soon. No fun being ill at Christmas.

Linda - maybe you need to see the doctor. You may need antibiotics.

No chance of that in Christmas week Sue, I am sure that I will be fine (keeps fingers crossed)

Allan Report 21 Dec 2009 21:34

Sue, the eruption may lead to a few glorious sunsets but not much joy if you are living in the vicinity of it!

I have had enough research for one night,so I am off to snuggle in bed and watch TV. I know that it is only 9.30pm, but when I move more than a foot from the radiator, I feel cold.

Keep cool down there and I hope your flatulence improves Allan!

Berona Report 21 Dec 2009 22:15

I need to go too. Have a few unimportant things to do, like topping up petrol, a few groceries, etc. Might as well get out early and get back before the crazy ones get on the road. Why is everyone in such a mad dash at Christmas time? Takes the fun out of it!
Sleep well and keep warm. Keep cool (and out of wind, Allan) Aussies.
Good morning/good night to Diane whether you are on your way up or down!

Allan

Allan Report 21 Dec 2009 22:17

'Bye Berona,

It is chaotic isn't it. I can't understand why, just because it's Christmas, everyone has to descend on the shops as though there will be no tomorrow.

Take care

OH has to pick up a new pair of specs and the shopping centre will be crazy!

Tec, if you come on later, I hope that all is well

Take care

Hi All,

I guess most of you have either gone for the day or are tucked up in bed.

Have been a bit better. Vomited on Sunday night, but that was after taking Panadol for pain. I ended up having morphine, so got a good night's sleep. Had a good day yesterday - no sickie-sickie.

I think Berona, you asked me before what I was doing for Christmas? We are staying here at my sister's place and we will go home on the Sunday. My aunt will be alone this year, so we have asked her to come over as well. We generally have ham and salads for lunch. Potato Salad and Curried Egg Salad are a must. Breakfast is usually bacon, eggs, tomato, mushrooms (if you like the taste of dirt) and orange juice with champagne in it - we is posh like.

I hope you are all ok.

Cheerio for now
Ali

Hello All

Nice to see you posting Ali, I'm glad you had a good day yesterday.
My daughter asked me to make a potato salad for Christmas day, I like curried egg salad also, but I'm the only one from my lot.
Is your older son going to be with you for Christmas? I remember you saying he was working while you were having your treatment.

Linda, Where in Victoria is your research based? I think you may have mentioned Geelong? Its about an hours drive from where I live. If you ever need photos etc, let me know:-))

Stay safe and warm Tec, Linda, Lynda, Pat and Diane:-))
Stay cool Sue, Berona and Allan don't get blown away please:-))

Our weather is delightful down here, about 29c.

I'm off to take my daughter to a dentist appointment, I think she needs a filling.

Carole xx

Hey, Alison. That curried egg salad sounds nice. Must get the recipe from you. I love your kind of breakfast, particularly the orange juice with champagne in it - not too heavy on the juice, now!

SueMaid Report 22 Dec 2009 07:36

Oooh, Alison - you're talking about food in detail. You must be feeling better. This will be a great Christmas with the people you love - what more could you want.

I've been having a teary day today. How silly is that? I've been with my mum all day and we've been talking about dad. Then she told me that my sister has told her that she won't be seeing her for Christmas. I was very angry. I told mum that my sister doesn't know how lucky she is to have a mother and that OH would give a lot to have his mum with him for Christmas. We had a big hug and a good cry and said all the soppy stuff that women say when we're feeling emotional.

Then my son rung this afternoon. He must be missing us with Christmas coming up and he told me how much he loves us and that our grandson can't wait to open his parcels and he's excited 'cos he will be ringing us on Christmas morning. We talked for over an hour with me all teary and him asking me why I'm crying. Ah....men just don't understand:-)) I'm crying 'cos I love him and I'm happy 'cos he's happy.

Why does this time of year bring up so many emotions?

Hello all

The strangest thing today!

As we were waiting for the optometrist to open we went into Big W just for a quick look around.......all the Christmas Trees had been taken off display and all the rest of the seasonal items were being removed!!

I went down some aisles expecting Easter eggs to be on display, but OH reminded me that the beginning of the new school year occurs first....silly me!

Sue, perhaps OH and myself are fortunate, as our parents passed on so many years ago that we now only have fond memories of them, not raw wounds: but I do remember that the first few Christmases without them were hard, particularly after our children were born.

Alison, my apologies!

Our kids are coming over for breakfast on Christmas Day

I adore potato salad and there are so many variations that it is never boring.

Please enjoy your day, Lovely Lady.

A very late good morning from me.
I kept waking in the night, probably because I can't breathe through my nose, so I slept in this morning.

Lovely to see you posting Alison. The curried egg salad does sound nice, the champagne even nicer.I hope that you manage to eats and drink lot's of it.

Good to see you Diane, I wondered if you had lost your internet again.

Allan, it does sound strange when you say the new school year starts because here it runs from September.

Carole, my Aussie descendants are in Geelong, they were there from the early 1800's are are still there. There are lots of them buried in the Geelong cemeteries. I know one lot made their money by owning a wood yard, I have a photo of it.
Over the years several groups joined the original ones and some of the burials I know about are in the 1990's. There was one tree I found on the web to do with these people, but the top of it was a work of fiction, so put off contacting the person until I had tried to sort it out. Recently a different tree has appeared on Ancestry,so the relative in Canada I am working with, has contacted this person, but we haven't had a reply yet.

A special mention to Berona who is in my thoughts today.

Plus hello to everyone else, I have left out.
