I think that you could well be right there Tec

Allan Report 22 Dec 2009 22:51

Linda, there was something relaxing about all the kneading and knocking back.

However I have to admit that these days we have a bread maker.

In exchange I now make my own mince. I was fed up of all the fat in the shop bought mince and the price of it.

We buy topside steak when it's on special, usually down to the same price as the mince, freeze it and mince as required.

There you go Tec, you were right all along.
I know what you mean about mince Allan, I wouldn't touch any of the supermarket stuff

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 22 Dec 2009 22:57

The mince in our supermarket (the only one we have) is revolting looking, but I've never thought of doing my own,

off he runs to buy a mincer

Tec, before making our own, if we were cooking shop-bought mince we would actually cook it and at various times pour of the fat/water that was released, then put in whatever else was required depending on the dish being prepared.

Now we just put every thing in with the raw mince and cook it.

I really wanted a mincer with a sausage making attachment, but the one we bought was second hand and did not have such an attachment.

Goodnight Linda, sleep well - keep warm,
enjoy your time with your family.

Allan, Too late now, but you could have asked Santa for such a machine, I'm sure he does them.

Hi to All My Mates!,

Can't be bothered naming you all, and I'd probably forget one anyway and then I'd feel really terrible, so "all", means ALL.

My older son is staying home for Christmas. Seeing as we have inherited Dad's dog, I thought it would be better if he stayed home and looked after Harry. My birthday is in February, so he can spend some extra special time with his mother then.

I saw the thread about Jean and have added to it. Are you ok SueMaid? That is probably a lot of the reason why you are a bit tearful?

Don't know when I will be back on again, so MERRY CHRISTMAS to all. We head back on Sunday, and I can't wait for my own bed, doctors etc! (as you do).

I guess it's going to be a dreadful Christmas for Jean's family. My heart goes out to them.

I hope all our mates on this thread are going well and have a lovely Christmas with good health for the New Year. I'm not sure whether to say 20 - 10 or 2000 and 10.

See ya
Ali

Tec,

these days we buy things as the need arises. However, we may sell the mincer and put the proceeds towards a new one, although I suspect that my desire to make my own low fat sausages may just have been a passing whim!

Hi Alison,
For once I am still up when you posted -
I hope you have a really lovely Christmas with your sister, aunt and everyone, You so deserve some "happy time" after the bashing you've had with the treatment.
Also, have a safe and comfortable journey home on Sunday, you're right, there is nothing like your own bed, and being around people you know.
Have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, I hope Santa is good to you.

God Bless, take care beautiful lady.

Allan,
I don't think I would be brave enough to attempt to make my own sausages, would end upwith some very odd shapes. I have more than once stood in awe watching a butcher make sausages - it looks so easy, and fast.

Thanks Tec,

I hope you and the Duchess have a safe, happy and healthy Christmas too.

I'm off to try an ice-block. Feel a bit queasy again, so maybe the lemonade ice will help.

Cheerio Everybody.

Tecwyn

Naughty girl, Alison!! :0))

Tec, that's why I think that I just have a passing fancy. I fear that I may not have the patience to make them!

Ah well I must be off to face the rigours of another day, and a bit later pay my last pay cheque into the Bank.

I'll try to chat later.

regards

Allan

That's naughty - you're not supposed to do that. I expect you've been shaking and squeezing them too- they might just be lots of component parts of some posh cleaning gadget that OH thinks you need......that's got you worried.

Well I have to go to bed now, so leave the pressies alone, and go and enjoy the sunshine - think of me freezing my knickers off while you're basking in the sun - not that I'm jealous or anything..........

Goodnight my friends

Tec
