Carole - I'm impressed! I still have the translations Tec sent me some time ago, but haven't learned much from them.

Well, happy Christmas to all those who are here - and to those who may drop in later. I might not get back again.

Keep warm, Poms - keep cool Australasians - and everyone have a lovely Christmas and festive season!

Persephone Report 24 Dec 2009 02:52

Hello All
Well I have been catching up on the threads - reading about siblings and their relationships with parents etc and whilst I always felt sad about being an only child - it does have its merits. Especially after my SIL - and the less said about her the better - let's just say she is the black sheep of all the first cousins in OH's family.

Carole - I did enjoy your fairie poem and it has now "winged" its way around the world, hope you don't mind but it was too good not to share. I will get OH to recite it at dinner tomorrow as the grandchildren will also find it funny.

Hello Susan with numbers and my friend Susan in WA good to see you on here.

Hello Pamela - I am from NZ been away from the threads since last Friday - my grandfather a NZer and my grandmother from Scotland got married in WA and my father and two of his siblings were born there. On the other side of my family my mother's mother was born in Melbourne - a daughter of two Scottish people who met in NZ - married here and went to seek their fortune for awhile in OZ.

Alison - as Berona says not too much orange juice - Champagne is so so much better than drip - enjoy yourself - leave the prezzies alone tonight and be a good girl - have a good nights sleep and your curried egg salad awaits you for tomorrow. Stay as enchanting as ever.

Sue - thanks for being a friend - thank you for your e-card - thank you for starting this thread - Haloumi is really nice done like that - I am quite partial to it. Happy times with your family.

If you have not seen this before - I think it is funny as do my grandchildren.. Copy this to your browser and watch needs sound.

Well now I have just been called away in the middle of all this, I had beaten up the mixture for my Mississippi Mud Cake with my electric beater which I have since 1974 - I made the comment that it was on its last legs. OH - yelled - Beater was sitting on bench switched off at the wall - smoking away - lovely smell - well at least cake was in oven was worried it was it, that was smoking.... but no!!! so far oven has been performing okay - Will have to use Stick Blender to whip the cream. OH was - do you want to go and get a new mixer right now? Also think I will avoid Boxing day shopping and it can wait till after New Year - but I can assure you it will not be a Valentine present. We never had Valentines or Halloween until we had TV - it's a wonder we don't celebrate the 4th of July as well.

To the rest of you have a good day tomorrow and each and every day for the rest of your lives. Be it in the snow or in the heat - just put on those Happy Feet and have a good time.

Cheers

Persephone

Hello Susan and Perse - just want to wish you all the best for tomorrow and the festive season. Hope to talk to you soon on here.

I've had the radio on and whilst mostly carols, a few of the old timers have been played, one of which was "How'd you like to spend Christmas on Christmas Island". Not very applicable these days, is it?

Happy Christmas to you and yours!!

Welll, ho ho ho and off to bed I go.
What a dumb day this has been - I have had the same microwave for over 25 years and never burnt a thing till today - when I burnt chocolate that I was melting - don't know what planet I was on when I set the timer. OH was in the kitchen reading the paper and I come around the corner - to see what the smell was and here is smoke coming out the microwave and he didn't notice. Then of course the mixer.....
Don't say it Linda about things happening in threes, however, I cut my finger on a tin lid - so that is going to have to be it...

Let's hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow or it will be McDonalds for us Bunnies.

My SIL put up the tree last night - (23rd) he was very precise about the lights - which is pretty difficult as the different colours flash in time to music (it has sound but we usually leave that off except for one round of it for the kids on the day).

Have a good one
Persey whose personal fairy lights are feeling a bit dim at the moment.

Patricia - I'm glad you arrived safely. Now all you need is for your niece to arrive and you're all set.

Persey - what a day. Calm down girl - it'll all be right on the day:-))

I've had a message from Colin and he sends his best wishes.

I do love Christmas - really I do:-)) Thank goodness it only comes once a year. See you all soon:-)

Good evening everyone. I am enjoying the respite between visitors. It was so lovely to have my daughter here for a couple of days, but sad to see her go. It took us ten minutes to dig her car out of the drive. I was mightily relieved when she rang to say that they were safely at her fiancées parents house.

I then had a spurt of activity as the bed needed to be changed and cleaning done yet again in preparation for my son's arrival tomorrow.

OH has now caught my cold and is feeling so ill that he has gone to bed even though it is only 7pm. He can't keep warm, oh the joys of winter.

Our down under friends will soon be waking up to Christmas day,so I hope that you all have a magical day with your families

Good Evening Linda,

Pleased that you had a nice couple of days with your daughter, and that she arrived safely at her next destination. I just look forward so much to seeing my daughter, and yes,I always feel a bit flat when she leaves too.
I think she is coming on Sunday or Monday. But never mind, your son is coming

It really is too bad that your OH has such a rotten cold now of all times. I do hope that he will be able to enjoy his Christmas dinner.
As you are the Goddess of the Kitchen I can imagine all manner of sumptious creations - shame if he didn't enjoy that.

Yes our friends in Australasia will now be waking up to Christmas Day - have a really great day Aussie friends.

I hope that you are all snug tonight Tec. Christmas lunch will seem very odd this year because normally I am catering for an army and do produce a huge spread with all the trimmings. This year for the first time in almost forty years, there will just be the two of us. My son and his girlfriend are not arriving until early evening, having had lunch with her mother. I wouldn't have bothered, but he wants to have the turkey left overs as usual. When OH is ill, he never wants to eat,so we will have to see

Just popped in quickly to say Merry Christmas to all who are usually here and a thank you to those who have popped in to wish us the best. Same to you!

It is now Christmas Day here. Plenty of cloud but very warm and sunny at the moment with rain forecast. Shouldn't be much even if it does rain and will probably not affect anyone planning outdoor celebrations.

Santa has been here and gone again so off to bed those of you in countries where he hasn't been yet. He's had his swim and freshened up - and now he's on his way!!!!!

May you all have a happy, healthy and safe festive season.
