Hello amigo's:-))

You had all gone by the time I'd read your posts.

Sue..We are having a fairly quiet New Years - We are just going down to the local Golf Club for a meal, then we will come back home and watch the fire works in Melbourne from our house on the hill - we are fairly high up and can see the skyline of Melbourne from where we live, Its usually quite a good display but nowhere near as good as Sydney!!!

Allan and Janet - I'm glad your weather is much cooler. I was so sorry to hear about the fires over there, it brings a shiver down my spine!

I bought that television, yesterday. I finally got the dimensions right and the set fits perfectly. My hubby is happy! - that's the main thing !!!!

We are in for a hot day, today 34c - hotter tomorrow:-((

Berona...I hope you are ok, Ive been thinking about you:-))

Alison...I hope you are well, too:-)) You are constantly on my mind.

Hello to Tec, Persey, Diane, Pat, Janet, Allan and Lynda..sorry if I've missed anyone:-))

Berona Report 30 Dec 2009 06:43

Hello all. Thanks for thinking of me. I'm still having problems with my legs not wanting to support me. Don't know what I've done, but I've had all-night cramps for three successive nights and when I walk, can only go a dozen steps and my legs feel like I have climbed a mountain and I have to sit down. Chemist will only supply cramp tablets on prescription and my doc and specialist are both on holidays! Also, most of my family are away too - so I'm trying to make up my sleep - but not doing much good there either. Oh! woe is me!

Alison - let us know how your treatment goes tomorrow, won't you? Hope it all goes well for you.

SueMaid Report 30 Dec 2009 06:54

Hello all.

Berona - isn't there a medical centre nearby? I hate the thought of you not getting enough sleep because of the cramp. It must drain your energy.

Carole - nice to see you. Hope you're not finding the heat too much. Isn't it crazy - our Poms freezing and we're roasting. It's been quite warm and humid here although not as bad as in some areas. Poor WA - I've just been watching the news about the bush-fires. It's heart-breaking.

Alison - I'm thinking of you. Hope all goes well tomorrow.

Glad you got a TV to fit Carole - I got a new low table affair with a deep drawer for all his CDs and it is big enough for our new TV to go on when we get it. Just not sure what we will do with the old one. There is only the two of us and we already have 3 TVs.

Oh Berona - you are going to have to get something to take you can't go on like this - and here I was making jokes about your highland fling - but if you are having a mobility problem with it as well you need it taken care of now.

Thinking of you Janet and Allan with this crazy weather - it's mind boggling the crazy way it treats OZ.

My heart goes out to a family here up in Northland a 55 year old grandad saved his two mokopunas (grandchildren) from drowning - there is a vicious rip in that area and the kids got caught up in it. He was a strong swimmer but he died as a result of his efforts.

Sorry did not get on here earlier but probably no one noticed my absence.
I decided to get outside and clear all the Tecoma hedge vines this morning - whilst he has just about annihilated the hedge, the ground has not been fully cleared and he has been getting his ladder entangled in the vines going across the ground and under the house. Managed to clear all that, with my trusty secateurs & lollopers whilst he went off to get timber. So I have been a "gofa" for the rest of the day. He has been vacuuming above our laundry from the outside so we can get it insulated above the ceiling. We should have done it years ago when we redid that room - our builder was astounded at the time because there was not one but three ceilings up in there.

Love to you Alison good luck with everything.

And Tec - am I supposed to watch for your profile on America's most wanted? Have to go Quantico on the phone.

Hello Perse:-)
Sure! you've been missed...I love your sense of humor, you remind me of my Auntie - she is always sending me these wicked funnies by email - they could never be put on here, too risque!!!

Sue, I agree with our weather, it is soo crazy!
They were saying on the news that we may have thunder storms tomorrow night - so our fire works maybe canceled!! My young man will be devastated:-((
Guess whats on the menu for tomorrow night - seafood again!!!! YIPPEE.
I got in the car this afternoon, the temp gauge said 40 degrees.
Thank god for the aircon!!

Nice to see you posting, Berona:-)) So sorry about your cramps..It sounds dreadful. I hope you can get it sorted soon:-))

Hi all

I have popped in to say I will be out (make of that what you will Tec)

My daughter will be collecting me around 10am our time but you lot are either getting over your dinner or not awake. We are going to the resthome to visit my mother's cousin - she turned 90 in Oct so I have probably mentioned her before. I don't believe she will be with us much longer - she is getting frailer and one is never sure whether she is going to be with it or not when you visit. My daughter has been wanting to see her and now is the chance during her two week break from teaching the littlies. Where she works closes for two weeks at Christmas - they look after pre-schoolers from wee babies till they turn 5.

Just had a shower and put on my good "going out to see the older rellies stuff" and find I have now got a bloodied ankle - so had to wash that and plaster it (charming) must've scratched it in amongst the shrubbery.

I am as bad as my grandson - who managed to score some skinned knees and elbows on Boxing day when he took his scooter to his other Nana's. I am sure branches and barbed wire etc see me coming and jump out and hit me - I am always getting bruised and bloodied.

I can do risque Carole - but one has to be oh so careful with these threads as there seems to be an awful fine line between acceptable and not acceptable. I would be bound to either trip over it and fall into some dark abyss or plough through it in my steel capped gumboots.
Keep smiling... it becomes you.

Cheers all and especially Alison...

Hi Perse,
Just thought I would pop in and say "Hi" before you are inside out, or catching up with yourself coming back.
Enjoy your visit to elderly relative, I hope you find her in relatively good form.
Can't imagine that I will be around to be found when I am 90, in fact had I known I would live this long I would have taken more care of myself.

Watch out for things leaping out and attacking you.

Hello everyone - hope you are all well:-)

New Year's Eve here and so 2009 is on it's way out. A year full of life changes within our family. My daughter divorced her wayward husband, my son discharged from the army after 14 years and my OH retires. All these things have impacted on our family although not necessarily in a bad way.

I'm always a little down on the last day of the year. I always feel a little apprehensive of what the new year will bring. However we must be optimistic and look forward to the whatever the year brings.

Good evening/morning to all

Persey, I've just had a look at that Thread! OH loves hotcross buns and her first comment when we noticed that the Christmas display was down before the big day...."Goody! Hot Cross Buns will be on sale soon!"

Sue, none of us know what lies ahead, which is probably just as well, all we can do is accept what is handed to us whether it is for good or bad.

Berona, I'm sorry to hear about your mobility problems and if there is an emergency medical service near you I would earnestly recommend that you go there for some advice until you can see your own GP.

Thanks to all for your concerns re the bush fires but I am a good 250 kms away from the area. I'm not sure whereabouts in Perth Janet is but she would be considerably closer than I am. The fire is now under control but 37 homes destroyed plus many sheds etc. Only a few casualties and only with minor injuries.

Alison I do hope that you are feeling a little more perky for the New Year.

Hello to Carole, Linda, Diane, Pat and Tec

Tecwyn Report 30 Dec 2009 21:55

Good Morning Sue,
Hope you are well today, and weather promising. We continue to freeze, a really dreadful day, with driving sleet, and tremendous winds that are so noisy screaming past the house. I haven't seen a soul outside all day.

I think it is natural for us to be reflective at the end of another year. There have not really been any dramatic changes in my family. My grand daughter, now aged fifteen, went on an educational trip to Russia, and later to Rome. I take a keen interest in her education. I didn't get nearly as much done to the house as I had hoped, but will plod on next year. Everything seems to take so much longer these days.
There has been a marked deterioration in OHs health this year, and that is a constant worry, but we cope between us.
A huge plus this year has been finding new friends on here, and I am hugely grateful to you for making that possible.
I am optimistic about 2010, and look forward to a fresh start as it were, what will be, will be, as they say, and we must all hope for the best.

Good Morning Allan,

Hope you are bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning. Was the weather suitable for your dawn patrol?
I am glad to hear that you are safely away from the fire area, and sincerely hope it stays that way.
My day has been spent finding my way around on Ancestry, and I can already see that it will be very useful to me - it was a good excuse to hide from the weather - although I still suffer from a guilt complex if I sit down too long.

Good evening Tec,

The waether is fantastic today. Nice and cool, just as it was yesterday.

However the temps are forecast to increase next week, probably not ideal for our trip to Fremantle, but then again there is a vey nice Pub just opposite the Freo Markets which is actually a micro-brewery, the Sail and Anchor.

It will be nice and cool in there!

Good morning Tec and Allan - I thought my maudlin ramblings had put you all off posting:-))

Tec - how would we have predicted that we would all become such good friends with each other? I thought this thread may last a day or so but here we are going into the New Year with people we didn't know this time last year.

Allan - I've been watching the bush fire situation in WA with horror. My heart goes out to those people affected. Are you forecast for more hot weather?

How long does it take you to drive up there?

Allan Report 30 Dec 2009 22:24

Sue, More hot weather in the New Year :0(

Tec, I'm not sure how long it will take as we may try the new road but definitely no longer that two hours as it is closer to us being on the South side of Perth.

Allan

Allan Report 30 Dec 2009 22:27

Sue, I should have added that the fires have been declared a State Natural Disaster meaning that those affected can claim a small amount of compensation ($3000.00) immediately for clothes and temporary accommodation

Allan

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 30 Dec 2009 22:40

The compensation is a good thing, Allan. It takes the immediate worry off their minds.

I do hope Berona has managed to get some sleep overnight. This humid weather is draining enough without lack of sleep as well.

Alison - good luck today. We'll all be sat beside you while you're having your treatment - annoying the heck out of the staff, being rowdy 'cos it's New Year's Eve and generally making a nuisance of ourselves:-))
