Sorry I had to get my binoculars out to watch the Tele - Allan.

Same thing happened at the panto... one poor girl guide needed guidance after your performance.

You two are crazy:-)) It's like stand-up comedy on this thread at times - but I'm not complaining:-))

I also remember BConnelly in the ice and snow - lucky he's not a brass monkey.

Perse - Your Sky Tower looked very impressive. They have put up some very strange looking buildings in London. I think modern architects try to out do each other. The Prince of Wales is well known for his scathing attacks on them - he has a point, but I did like your Tower, so you'd better tell them it can stay, as I approve.

Bye Allan,
Enjoy your day - don't work too hard.

I've just been playing in the snow in the garden with my dog, he thinks it's great fun - it's all crunchy now because it's frozen.

Didn't see any polar bears or penguins out there.

We have not so much had problems here with Architecture but builders - they have cut corners and we have claim after claim on these apartments that we now have and other houses - called leaky building syndrome - buildings rotting and being not safe to live in - people in tears - no way of refinancing etc. Though some were poorly designed - no eaves over windows - we live in such a wet climate - rain all year round - damp and mildew contribute to a lot of the health problems here in the poorer and even not so poor families.
Our house was built in 1917 and my father used to go past it in his horse and cart in the 1920s. It is the add on at the back that is giving us problems - not done correctly etc. Someone in the seventies decided to put arches in the lounge, dining and kitchen areas - seven arches and some other horrible attachments etc like a huge built in shadow box. So we have taken all that out and it now has smooth straight lines etc.

Sorry - get me on a subject and off I go.

Persey... probably time for bed for you Tec..

I'm watching Sky News at the moment and they've just shown New Year celebrations around the world. The announcer (British) said the fireworks in Sydney would be hard to beat but they showed the fireworks in London and that looked wonderful. Time Square in New York looked good too. The news item also showed people having a dip into the water near Edinburgh - well near the Forth Bridge. Are they mad?

Perse - Like you we live in a wet area. Wales has the highest level of rainfall in the UK. My house was built in 1911 - structurally it is solid, but we have a damp problem in part of it.
We have three floors to this house, and fireplaces in all bedrooms, not used, now just features. When it rains heavily we get water down the chimney of the top bedroom - that room is not used except to store junk.
I have spent lots of money trying to cure the problem but so far no luck - we just live with it.

I must be off, my friends. The phone rang and OH has informed me we are expecting a visitor. My sister in law so I'm not complaining although I was hoping for a quiet day. She's a very "easy to be with" person.

Good night/day. Berona I hope you're ok and Alison I'm thinking of you as always.

Well OH and I off out - so must be time for you to sleep Tec - I wish you pleasant dreams. You expect that in an older home Tec but new ones falling apart from the start is a bit much when they still have to pay off the mortgage and have no where they can hang their hat.

And to those other three sleeping soundly Pat, Linda and our Liverpudlian.

Talk to the others later - hope you are okay Berona
Thinking of you Alison

And Sue - this thread is getting dangerously close to 10,000 posts so whoever does it will need a chocolate biscuit and a lie down.

Cheers - Persephone xx

I suppose everyone has gone to bed by now. Just want to thank you for your concern. The night cramps continued all week, so no sleep, except sometimes early morning (when I'm usually on here!). My Doc will be back from holidays on 11th, so I'll have it all checked out then and see if I can have something ready to take if it happens again!

If I missed anyone - Happy New Year to all!

Diane Report 2 Jan 2010 00:33

Well I finally get through all the post since my last one and what happen's ? Everyone has gone.
Sorry so late but I made a phone call to a friend and we were talking for over 2hrs.
Tec- when you look in tomorrow you will see this, the reason there are no Penquins is because they all came to Liverpool for Christmas and are just hanging around the street's of our Town Centre lol. If you check the internet ( Liverpool Penquin's ) it will tell you all their name's and were their all living.

Linda, Sue and Perse, you are all right in what you said, and I know that I have done all I can and it is now up to her to get in touch. Let's hope it is before my grand-daughter's birthday which is on the 13th Jan and she is having a party on the 15th which I am suppose to be going to.

Berona I hope as all the rest on here are hopeing you are alright and have managed to get some treatment for your cramp's. Please put our mind's at rest and let us know how you are hun.

Alison I hope you had a pleasant New Year and you are well hun.

Allan- what are you like, you deffinately haven't lost your sense of humour lol, and that poor frog whatever did it do to you to warrent such a hot time, just because you are haveing to put up with all that heat doesn't mean you can take it out on a poor deffensless frog ( frog leg's indeed ), didn't you have enough chicken at Christmas lol.

I'll say goodnight to you all othwise I'll be talking to myself lol

Stay warm all over here and enjoy your day all elsewhere

Well blow me, what happen's while I'm takeing so long to post?
Berona you appear and tell us the answer to mine and other's question lol.
You say your DR's is open on the 11th, that's 9of your dys away, surely there is an emergency clinic you can go to in the meen time, you can't put up with so little sleep until then hun, even I would find that hard to cope with being the night owl that I have been lately.

Now that I have said that I really must be off to bed, I'm shattered

Bye for now all

I think Berona's best bet is to watch some of the stupid summer programmes on TV - they are enough to put anyone to sleep. But saying that we have a favourite of ours on very late tonight. Touch of Frost - with David Jason playing the lead... is real life brother plays a sergeant in it as well.

Saw you on the crochet thread (that's clever wording) Diane - I used to do embroidery a lot when I was young (sounds very refined) and then I took to knitting but never sorted out crocheting. My father's sister was always making crochet doilies and dressing table sets etc so she used to crochet the edges around my embroidered pieces.
You have obviously done a lot of work for your grandchildren Diane which is really lovely - because lots of times now us grandmother's don't have the time or the inclination and tend to buy shop garments which are not the same there isn't that love and care put into them.
I liked reading that thread - but did not comment - as I would probably be a crotchety crocheter.

Take care all
Persey

Hello all:-))

I am so glad you are ok, Berona. I also have been very concerned about you - especially when you mentioned on an earlier post that your family were away.
Happy New Year to you, I hope you get these cramps sorted out soon cos I miss your posts xx

You were all talking about Billy Connolly, earlier - I went to see him - the last time he was out here. I can definitely say he is not for the faint - hearted, I loved seeing him, Ive never laughed so much in my life and will go again if and when he comes back.
Ive also been to see Kevin B Wilson, (he's an Aussie comedian) also good - If you like his sort of comedy.
Another favorites of mine is Tim Minchin (Aussie), he is brilliant, live!!!

Thinking of you Alison, I hope you are OK.
