'bye Linda - have a nice day.
To all others - have a nice day - or a good night.
I'm going to close down early tonight and watch a little bit of TV - if I don't doze off. Talk to you all later.

hello Janet, welcome back.

Take no notice of the others!

Tec and myself are the very models of rectitude and virtue.

It seems that the sisterhood has finally given up all pretence at guarding the boards

Mother will be disappointed! :0))

Don't worry, Sue fully understands that the promise of lunch out and shopping outweighs all other considerations, even if it does mean going via a hardware store.

I was very circumspect with the shopping, I only bought half a dozen white mugs from Marks, which is what I went for. OH is extremely happy with a hundred coach bolts and washers.

Hope you enjoyed your trip to York - I've never been there. My sister often shops in York, and Harrogate, but I've never been that far north. I did once go to Yorkshire Television studios. As I was driven, and not paying attention, I cannot now remember where it was. Leeds?
I'm sure we crossed the Pennines, and seem to remember going through Buxton in Derbyshire. Maybe I was lost, or the driver was- who knows?

I have six unwanted coach bolts I could have donated.

As it is likely to be the next millenium before I make it to Tesco's, I sourced what I could towards my bread making exploits locally ( Co-op)
Managed to find Alinsons Strong Bread Flour, says it's suitable for Bread Makers. Also Alinsons Easy Bake Yeast.
However, your celebrated recipe requires vegetable oil, instead of butter, I later discovered that I have olive oil, not vegetable. I do have Anchor Spreadable Butter, but I think that has oil content.

I can of course make another 20 mile round trip tomorrow to find what I actually need - stupid silly man.

Your comments on the above situation would be greatly appreciated.

Tec.

The TV studios are in Leeds, I can't believe that you have never been this far north.
I don't know about the butter, the spreadable stuff is more like margarine than real butter. If it is just ordinary olive oil, rather than the very rich extra virgin which you use for salads, that will probably do. You can but try. make sure the yeast says it is suitable for bread makers, I made a mistake of using the ordinary dried yeast in a tub and it didn't work.

Linda,
I did apparently, go to Scotland, but as I was only three months old at the time, I suppose that hardly counts.
Thanks for your advice, the yeast I have is suitable, it said so. No it's not talking yeast, it says on the packet.
I will have a go tomorrow, and let you know what happens - if anything.

I promise not to bother you with this for the rest of my life - I will get the hang of it - on the other hand, when you arrive at the Manor, you can show me yourself.

Good evening Diane and Tec,

I saw that you had brought him back Diane, well done.

Tec, just have a go, what can possibly go wrong? Just check the dough once it has been mixing for a bit and use a plastic spatula to gather any flour in If it looks too sticky, just add a bit more flour, or a bit more water if it is too dry. All breadmakers are different,so it is just getting used to it, which might take a few goes, but you will get there in the end.

Good evening Pat, I am plodding away trying to find missing people in the 1911 census, but I think all of mine were suffragettes, so reused to fill it in. Either that or they were illiterate and spelt their names in such stupid ways that they will never be found

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 10 Nov 2009 20:08

Diane never did bring me back - I'm still adrift..........

This is just a pigment of your imagination,

Yes Linda.......Some astonishing creations sometimes appear from my kitchen.....good - bad - and indifferent.

If my bread is even slightly edible I will delighted, and I'll eat it if it kills me
