Hi Berona.
Hi Diane,
I've added some more names to my tree!
I've been to Coventry once. My niece and nephew lived there when they were at Uni.

Hi Barbra......
Pleased the new little dog is settling in her new home,
I got my Bread Maker from Argos, they had a special deal on, and it was half price.....cheap and cheerful, basically reduced from £80 to £40, Linda advised me not to get an expensive one with whistles and bells as half of it was unnecessary.

Good Morning, Allan,
I've been valiantly holding the fort 'till you arrived, Only Diane took me by surprise in Narnia, but I sent her packing back to the sisterhood.

Been having a great day out there...........freedom from criticism

You can't possibly be more of a mechanical moron than me - I know nothing - just add petrol, and drive

Good Morning Berona,
Yes, like you, I've been around the world many times, not many places I haven't seen, but have so much of the UK yet to see, strange isn't it.

Barbra, Never heard of an Auto Union, had a Volvo once, built like a tank.
I've got a Focus Estate, mostly to carry the dog in, but I like it,

Allan - that's that liquid you put in your car to make it go - and as you put it in, it makes the little calculator spin like crazy until it gets to a price that you've never paid before!

Allan,
Smelly stuff, more expensive than whisky now, Known as the Governments Golden Goose, on account of the tax revenue they earn from petrol

Tec - I had the travelling bug when I was young and single and got it out of my system then. My attitude was that once you settle down, it's a long time before you are free again to do it.

I went again 38 years later, but that was to visit inlaws, and we did a coach trip on the Continent. This time, I wasn't fazed about it, but went for OH's sake. He had ideas of getting a land-cruiser and going around Australia, when he retired, but he didn't live long enough to achieve that. I would have gone, but only for his sake - and I have to admit that I am not sorry that I didn't get to make that trip. The travel bug left me once I made the first trip!

What's Allan up to now?

Allan

Allan Report 10 Nov 2009 21:59

Berona,

I know what you mean about travel.

When I was a lot younger I visited Norway, Switzerland and Italy and then with the Army reserve I went to Cyprus, Belgium and Germany.

We have also been to Bulgaria ( a beautiful country)

People now keep asking us whether we are going to buy a caravan and tour Australia. They are shocked when we say no

Hopefully the trip to Canada next year plus a visit back to the UK. If we do make the UK it will be the first time since we emigrated in 1982

Berona,
I also got the travel bug when I was 17 yrs old. I just missed National Service, but wanted to go in the Royal Air Force, but my father wanted me to stay at college instead. Anyway, I desparately wanted to travel, didn't have any money, so joined Merchant Navy, and made a career of it.
Not the ideal job for a married man with a daughter, so just as I was thinking of leaving I had a heart attack anyway aged 36, (all those nights out in Sydney) so that was it, descision made for me.
But it was a wonderful life, and would do it again.

Berona,

Don't you trust me???

Barbra I have driven a Focus here, not too bad a car, but the seats in this particular one were rather hard.

The talk about travel interests me.
I'm an armchair traveller although I did go the States in 1982 and I'm going to Tenerife next week. I haven't seen very much of Europe. I would like to go Paris one day.
