Tec will never find Coventry, he doesn't do "up north"

I have been to Coventry.........

Went to a Sunday Service in Coventry Cathedral, following a conference the day before..........but post conference jolly's affected my head, so don't remember too much,

So I think Leeds must be the furthest north I've been.

When I was a boy being brought up in the South of England, I thought Manchester was on another planet, or might as well have been.

I have been to the new cathedral and to the ruins of the old one as well.

As a child brought up in the north, it is pretty amazing that we used to venture relatively south. I think that was only because the only holidays people could afford was to go and stay with relatives. My father had an aunt who lived in Bath,so we went down there a couple of times. It was an awfully long journey pre motorways and in an old car.

know what you mean Linda, but somehow it was much more fun, and more interesting than sterile motorways.

The charm of old cars was that you never knew if you'd ever get there without something falling off.

I once had an old banger that used more oil than petrol, stopped at nearly every garage to check oil and water

At least with the old cars Tec, those who knew how to tinker, stood a chance of repairing them. Now they are all expensive computer chips

Well I did think of saying that Tec, but as i am being nice to you tonight, well sort of, I refrained

I was never very mechanical, unlike my brother who is a motor bike fanatic and can strip an engine down and rebuild it, but I used to recognise a carberetta ? plugs, points, etc etc,
Now have difficulty finding the dip stick, under the bonnet is a mystery to me........
Should have stuck to the Penny Farthing,

OH used to do our car services when we were first married (39 years ago aggh), but as soon as we could afford it, he delegated that task to a garage and has continued to pay out vast sums ever since.

My car is only 18 months old, so has only had one service, that cost nearly £200.........next service will be more expensive - I've only done 7,000 miles in 18 months........

Tec has not been sent to Coventry.

I have seen the 'new' Cathedral there ( I had been called as a witness in a court cas) but unlike the ruins of the old, absolutely no atmosphere or ambience.

Hi everyone! I've been here for 20 minutes, but with two threads to read, it takes that long to get started!

Allan says he has dug many tunnels - but don't believe him - he just wants to keep us busy looking for them while he flits away again.
