Good Morning Perse,

Montgomery was asking about you today, his paddock is covered in snow, and he reckons he'd better off with you.

We have a main computer in the lounge-room. We have room for it in the spare room but I didn't want us in seperate rooms in the evening. Last year OH bought a laptop. Our son wants a lap-top so he's saving for one and when this one goes I'll get a laptop too. Our virus protection allows us to protect 3 computers in the house so that's no problem.

Goodevening/ morning all

Perse- your right about handmade thing's and how you can appreciate the hard work and time that has gone into the item. I know my daughter alway's appreciated the thing's I made for the children, she took pride in telling her friend's or anyone who asked about anything I made, that is why I had so many order's for thing's. Some item's I made were not to be made again as they were what my daughter called ( one off item's ) never to be made again, one of these were the Christening gown and shawl.

Sue I remember the winter of 63, that was when we first moved to Liverpool from Shrewsbury and the main thing I remember about that year was all the bird's that died, we would get up in the morning and find them lieing on the garden die-ing or dead, I was only 6yrs old but that memory has stayed with me I suppose because I cried so much about it.

Yes I have to agree with you Allan and it is not as if we started that thread.
I did enjoy Nina's contribution - probably lowered the tone.

There are a lot of genes people who don't like the games - because at most times they occupy several spots on the front page. Well if they did interesting instead of bickering the games would eventually disappear. I find them a good filler in but when I was on here and Panto did not have much time to do them.

Hello the rest of you... sorry about the head Pat - you are norty but I like you.
Sorry about your head too Linda but your head should be up in the clouds now.

And as for Tec - "Linda did what?" not sure where his head is.

Don't you need two hands to type Tec?
I have put my laptop on a tray on top of a cushion now and it is better, my legs are cooler for a start.. I wanted to buy one of those trays with the bean bag on the botttom, but they are not big enough. there are plenty of specialist computer ones on Ebay, but again this laptop is too wide. There are some larger ones, but they are very pricey. I got a large wide wide screen laptop so my poor old eyes don't have to strain too much

Perse, a good old Anglo-Saxon word and one used by Chaucer himself!

I also found it hilarious!!

When we first got Television over here Linda, my mum went out and got us all TV trays - so we could eat and watch the tele. They were a tray with fold up legs and I often thought at the correct height ergonomically they would be about right for a laptop.

Montgomery would be most welcome - we could go for walks together as my OH still can't get a shoe on his foot. He said to me the other day - he was wondering where he could get another pair like what he is wearing which is a sock & scuff on one foot and sock and shoe on the other.

Talking of names in your trees Pat - we have a Norman Bates - and he is a more recent generation - and going back on a side line the other day I found an Albert Hall - and I did a giggle.

I don't use two hands to type Linda, just the one - I've become quite adept at flitting about the keyboard, mostly with my middle finger, left hand,. as I'm left handed.....the best people are you know.........
It's a bit like playing the chords on a piano with your left hand

The Duchess has decided she wants a Net Book - I don't know what for?

The tray I am using did have legs on Perse, but OH has taken them off for me. They were digging into the leather sofa and making marks

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 2 Jan 2010 22:18

You must have big hands to span the keyboard Tec

Hello, Diane and Persey:-))

Linda my OH has a tray thingy which you plug into the computer and a small fan keeps the laptop cool. It only cost a few dollars at a computer fair so you may be able to find one somewhere.

Our TV trays had legs to the floor - so your laptop wouldn't be on top of your lap anymore.

I have my son's laptop on my knee on the couch with 2 cushion's and a pillow behind me and it is very comforable to use.
I'm watching my idol on TV at the moment ( Elvis Presley ) . First it was Elvis by the Presley's and now it is Elvis : 68 comeback Special, Oh it is so sad to think he is no longer around, he is singing all my favourite song's then again all his song's were my favourite lol. He's on again tomorrow, Elvis in Vegas and Elvis : Aloha from Hawaii.

Good Evening Diane......

I saw all the penquins in Liverpool, no wonder there's none here.

Miss Smarty Pants Perse,
I may not be the brightest button in the box - or the sharpest knife in the drawer - but I get there in the end - you shouldn't mock the afflicted,

It wouldn't be a laptop - it would be a traytop or tabletop:-))

Diane I can remember about 6 years ago on New Year's Day we had an incredibly hot day - 48 degs. Unheard of in our area. Birds were dropping out of the sky and trees. The air-conditioner didn't work and plants literally withered and died in the garden and garden centres. It only lasted the day thank goodness but it was very strange.

I must be off, folks. Isn't it amazing that we reached the 10,000 mark. Berona I hope you're feeling better and thinking of you Alison as always. Love to you all.

Sue, here in WA we also had birds falling out of the sky near Esperance.

This was acouple of yeras ago and was due to lead contamination, not heat!
