My sister has wood burners, in fact until the house was rebuilt after burning down three years ago, they had wood fired central heating. It is a real hassle having to chop the wood though and you have to be very careful what type of wood you burn

Good morning/evening all. Hope you are all well. I've been up since 5:30 this morning - I couldn't sleep for some reason. It's really quite cool here this morning and looking miserable outside. Nothing like your weather of course:-))

Hi Tec Pat and Linda
I'm fed up with this cold weather, getting up early every morning and slip slideing to work and having icicles on my nose with the drip's lol.
As you said Linda we have quite some time of it yet and there is a suggestion it is going to get colder next week.

Have you signed the complaint to GR about the removal of Jean's sticker thread yet, I have just signed it.

Another bushfire north east of Perth, but much closer in an area called Brigadoon. It is about 32 km from Perth. No Property damege but residents have been advised to evacuate......

It's going to be a long,hot summer!

Hi Tec and Allan

Tec that gateaux sound's nice, any on offer or have you eaten it all lol.

Allan we don't usually take our deccy's down till the 12th night, I hope those fire's don't get any closer to you.

Tecwyn Report 3 Jan 2010 21:35

Good Morning Allan,
I do hope the latest fire will soon be under control what a worry for those people affected....
Sue it's not nice when you can't sleep, except for Allan who doesn't seem to sleep - messes you up for the day ahead - hope you've got an easy day.
Diane.....I get to a point when the clutter of decorations begins to irritate me, so I'm always eager to get them down after Christmas - the way Christmas's come round these days, we'll be doing it all again in a minute.

Hello Allan and Diane.

Tec - that sounds wonderful but you're a cruel man having something like that in the house when our poor Duchess can't have any:-))

Allan I've just been watching the news about the bush-fire near Brigadoon. It's very worrying. The next item was about the flooding in western NSW. This is near the area we visited when on holiday in November. We noticed the dry river and creek beds at the time and some had obviously not had water for a very long time. Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast are all being hit with storms and beaches had to be closed for awhile. Here it's cool, humid and raining. Crazy weather.

Good evening Diane. When the children were younger we also left the decorations up until 12th night, but now that they have flown the coop we took them down earlier.

I suppose that if we had grandchildren that would make a difference but now the decorations just seem a clutter.

We are still well south of the bushfires, over 200 kms away, although there are some areas very much closer to us which are disasters waitng to happen!

Tecwyn Report 3 Jan 2010 21:47

Sue.......We don't have very much in the way of sweet things as a rule, for obvious reasons, and I do feel sorry for the Duchess not being able to have any. But she is very good about it when I do have something - often than not it's her who buys it anyway. Not much point in having it here really as only I can eat it, so it would be wasted.

Anyway, I've gone up to 12 stone, and should be 11, so I need to go on a diet - not now because it's too cold.

Good morning Sue and good evening Tec

Sue I couldn't agree more with you regarding the weather.

Wa is also forecast to have at least six cyclones this season.

Yesterday we did the touristy thing in Bunbury and on the way back home we popped in to see the progree of work on the new Catholic Cathedral.

The old one was so badly damaged by a mini cyclone that hit bunbury a few years ago that it had to be demolished. The cyclone had a path that was only a few hundred metres wide so you could actually see how it travelled just by comparing the damaged and undamaged areas.

lol Tec ,
as you say it will be upon us again in no time, I went into our local Wilk's today and they had cream egg's, mini egg's and caramel cream egg's, sad or what.

Allan I only put mine up 2dys before Christmas so I'm not fed up with them yet and I didn't put a tree up only a small Topiary Tree, it was a present 2yrs ago and it was done in chrimbo deccy's so that is all I put up as a tree.

Hi again Sue, there is a lot of funny weather around over there and here this year, mind you it was the norm for it to be this cold when I was a little girl, the big difference then was we didn't have central heating so that ment we had ( Jack Frost ) on the window's , I used to love all the leaf pattern's on my window's in the morning's lol

Hello, Linda - I like the Poirot series. I was given a couple of Wire in the Blood dvds and I'm enjoying them. I've read the books and watching the series brings some of the stories to life.
