Just catching up with the posts. Congratulations to Sue for starting a thread that has brought so many of us together as friends - and congratulations also to Linda on hitting the landmark!

I'm fine, really. I think the poor old legs had such a pounding with the cramps that they are still tired, but improving, and I actually had about 3 or 4 hours sleep last night - so that's improving too.

My thoughts are with Alison. Has anyone heard from her? I was wondering how her treatment went on Thursday. Anyone know?
Anyway. Hang in there, tough little bush kid! We're thinking of you.

Hi Berona
yes it's me ( the night owl ) lol, glad to hear you got some sleep but can't understand why you can't get emergency treatment before the 11th hun. I know us women don't like to make a fuss ( not like men ) but there come's a time we have to. OMG I will get it from Allan and Tec tomorrow for saying that lol.
I have been wondering about Alison myself and then I remembered her saying they might take her into hospital to feed her up if she lost more weight, so maybe that is why we haven't heard from her as she wouldn't be able to let us know . I hope it is the reason and not anything else.

Alison if you are looking in hun, please let us know you are ok hun, we are all thinking of you and wish you all the best. x x x

Hi Sue ~~~~~~~~

Have you seen Winter Witches new board name?

Also do you ever look at the Cuisine Mag... Jan edition has a baby spinach, white bean & beetroot salad with panfried haloumi & balsamic dressing. I was very pleased with myself as in a plastic bag the supermarket had January issue of NZ House & Garden, Jan Cuisine and Jan/feb of Nz life and leisure for NZ $ 14.90. And that doesn't count as other spending when it is included in the groceries.

Somewhere I also saw a haloumi kebab recipe but will have to find it.

Hello, Persey - I've been cooking tea:-)) Plain old pasta with a tomato sauce thingo.

Do you get a supermarket mag called Super Food Ideas? It's a really good'un because it has recipes using just ordinary ingredients and is budget conscious. We also have a mag called Recipes and that's good too. OH has started to do some cooking since he retired. I'm not complaining.

We buy seafood marinara frozen ( and then I halve it and bag it when I get home ) and we get two meals out of that - with either Linda's sauce or 1/2 can of chopped tomatoes that have Basil etc in it and spaghetti.
Then we will use the other 1/2 can in the ratatouille or a mince dish or I will chuck it in something else a couple of days later. It's not only economical it is easy peasy.

I have got heaps of mags - Delicious, Table (Oz) Taste (NZ) & we have the Recipes mag and I see it is Australian. My youngest gave me a years sub to Cuisine one year.... I stopped buying so many when I finished work.
And yes I have a stack of Super Ideas - just been checking out this huge shelf in the spare room wardrobe. It is full of mags.

When OH was working every 12 or 13 weeks it would be his turn to put on morning tea - so I would do about four different finger foods type things - usually a bread thing, savoury item or two and a sweet item. I went to his farewell and got thanked for all my cooking. A lot of them used to buy stuff but they loved his because it was always homemade.

I don't know: food, food, food is that all you can think of!!

Berona, it is good to hear from you and I am pleased that there has been some improvement.

Diane, no flack from me, nor I suspect from Tec, there comes a time when people have to put themselves first and I think that Berona is at that stage!

Hi to Janet, very hot here in Australind!

hi to Persey also

Good morning from the frozen north. When I looked out of the window this morning, I could actually see the flagstones on the patio, although the garden was still covered in snow. Then the snow started and we had an absolute white out. Everything is totally covered again. A good reason to stay inside again today.

Lovely to see you posting again Berona.

Hot as over here Linda - very humid tonight and I am just off to bed - the windows upstairs are wide open and he has the fan going as well.
Unlike the Aussies we don't get that hot that we have airconditioning.
Only in the flash places you know and I don't do flash.
Allan does but that's just something he does with his Mac.

Nite Linda and Allan who is lurking around somewhere.

good night Perse, I hope that you manage to sleep tonight.

Obviously we don't have air conditioning, but I do have a large free standing fan to use in the summer, although it wasn't needed last year

I have no wish to know about Allan and his Mac!!! I prefer windows computers myself.

Hi Linda,
No snow in Exeter but I've been told it's cold outside.I've got to go back to work tomorrow!
I'm going to watch the Footie on the telly later on.

Hello Pat, it has been snowing for most of the morning and everything is well covered again.

I have just taken all the Christmas decorations down and given the place a good clean. The only problem is the tiny bits of glitter shining in the floor boards, they won't come out even with the hoover. OH is complaining about it not picking up properly, even though it has new filters and he has taken the tube off and checked it is not blocked. I think we will have to take the thing in for a service. I is a fairly new Dyson,so I am loathe to get a new one.

The only thing I have left to do is to write down all the senders of the Christmas cards in my special book. I do that every year so I don't miss anyone out.

PatriciaAnn

PatriciaAnn Report 3 Jan 2010 15:17

Hi Linda,
My decorations are still up. It's just basically Christmas cards. I put my cards on a spreadsheet on my laptop!
Leeds Utd beat Man. Utd 1-0 which I'm pleased about.
I hope you get your Dyson fixed soon.

OH just finished watching the match Pat, I think there is another match on later,so that should keep him happy. I have been looking up some 1911 censuses for my relation in Canada. I have just realised that I haven't read the paper, so I will idle away some time doing that now.I am all confused as to the days. Maybe tomorrow things will be back to normal and I will know where I am

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Jan 2010 16:50

Hooray.....The tree is down, and can now see through the window again - why does it take much longer to dismantle the tree and pack away the tree decorations than it does to put them up? As for the lights - well as OH has more patience than me, she gets the job of packing them in their boxes.

Pat.....It was a good match wasn't it? I too was pleased to see Leeds get through.......always on the side of the underdog - well done Leeds.

Linda....There was a cartoon in the Sunday Telegraph of a polar bear sitting on an ice berg with his Laptop......I thought of you.
Most of the snow has gone now, but lots of packed ice about, making it treacherous underfoot - and it's bitterly cold in the wind.

Berona,.....If you look in - I was so relieved to see you posting - hope very much you are feeling better - tell those legs you need them for our Tango around the deck of the cruiser......get well soon.

I consider lights to be man's work Tec, both getting them out and putting them away. Not that I am not perfectly capable of doing it,it is just so fiddly, so he gets to do them. I was glad when it got dark enough to go round closing all the curtains because it keeps the heat in.

This morning it was noticeable that I could see the paving stones on the patio, I couldn't believe that the snow came again.According to the Times, it is the coldest winter for 25 years. The cold weather is due to continue all of this week and probably next. Oh goody

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Jan 2010 17:59

Linda you are obviously as devious as me, passing the fiddly job of the lights onto OH. I always seem to get into an unholy tangle with them, so Oh takes them off me in exasperation anyway.....tee hee.......

Sorry to hear it has snowed on you again. There is more forecast for Tuesday for us. We have had a fire every day during the cold spell - burning lots of coal. I am seriously considering have a wood burning stove installed. I have gas central heating from an LPG tank in the garden, as there is no mains gas here, but it just isn't adequate in these conditions.
