CC THAT four letter word!

I thought that you meant CASH

We could all have a quick whip round.

I ain't half going to cop it when Mother (Sue) gets back on this thread. I'll be accused of lowering the tone.

I mean, Moi??

Oooh CC that's not the point!

Sue has her standards! :0))

CC you know what the internet is like.

Sue will just see the words as printed, and will not be able to see the innocent expression on my face!

LOL

Where's Sue,
Is she away?

Berona Report 7 Feb 2010 21:51

And to think I had ideas of telling Sue how good you have been!!??!!

You just wait until she reads your other thread! I won't need to tell her anything, will I?

Hello Pat - we certainly have missed you - very much. Well, I have, anyway. It's not easy managing these boys.

I wonder where the others are today.

I know that Berona is about, but Tec has usually joined in by now. I hope that the Duchess (Tec's wife) is ok and hasn't had any problems. And as for Diane and her noisy neighbours!

Also Linda should be back soon from her trip to Mexico

Sue went to Melbourne for a few days to attend a wedding. She might be on her way back now. I certainly hope so!

Berona! I am shocked!

Tec and myself have been the perfect models of the modern male in general!

(that should have G & S turining in their respective graves!)

Yes, it's Monday here. Almost 9:30am where I am - (6:30 where Allan is) and once again it is 'wet' outside. Still can't say it's raining, but it's about as close to it as we will no doubt get. It has rained elsewhere in Sydney, but not where I am. Unfortunately, the dam which supplies our water is not far from here, so it doesn't get the rain much either. Only recently, our new de-salination plant opened and has been infiltrated into the Sydney water supply, but we still have restrictions for some reason.

Berona,

WA currently has one desal plant near Perth and another is being constructed at Biningup about 20 kms north of where I am. A few years ago we had problems like Tec was discusssing earlier.

There was a proposal to take underground water from the south west to Perth. The general reaction of people here (myself included) was NO! Bring the people from Perth down to the South West!

CC we an only water on two set days a week and then only before9.00am or after 6.00 pm.

You'll see references on here to my garden. We recently dug up the back lawn as it was taking too much time and trouble to look after, and have remodelled the area.

I haven't watered the front area at all this sumer and it is now brown and lifeless.

It sounds like your restrictions are heavier than ours, Allan.
We can water the garden before 10am and after 4pm, but must use a hose fitted with a trigger nozzle for everything. We can now wash cars at any time, but still can't hose paths, structures, windows, etc. I was under the impression that the desalination plant was going to solve everything, but apparently not.

Allan

Allan Report 7 Feb 2010 22:57

Sorry Berona i should have said that the water resrictions are for sprinklers only, but they do apply even if you have your own bore.

Hand held hoses are still ok as is washing the car.

Sorry if I misled you>

Berona Report 7 Feb 2010 23:08

Sprinklers are a definite no-no here and have been for a few years now. Very cheap to buy, if they are on the shelves. Only those in the cultivation industry can use them.

My poor front gardens have to wait for the rain to seep through, as it only comes straight down and the eaves cover half of the garden. I refuse to take a chair out the front to what is our only shared driveway and I can't stand long enough to be able to hand-water my garden, so it's on it own!
It would be OK if I could sit out there in the quiet part of the day, but that's when we can't do it!

Allan Report 7 Feb 2010 23:13

CC, we live on the Swan Coastal Plain and the soils (which are basically a dry lifeless grey sand) is hydrophobic.

No it doesn't suffer from rabies, but it does repel water and you hae to apply wetting agents before any water soaks through. The number off lawns you see where the water just sheds off them onto the road is ridiculous

I need to get off my chair and do some h*******k. I have done the dishes and made the bed whilst talking to you, but must go and do a few more things. 'bye for now. CC - goodnight. sleep well.

Tec - hope things are OK with you. Diane - where are you?

CC we have put in drought tolerant. low maintenace plants.

We also have a small vegetable area> I don't mind spending money on something productive and which is still cheaper than the Supermarket.

The more that I have been on here lately the more I have noticed more and more people from NZ. There was just a handful but now they are appearing wherever I go.

Pakeha - actually means foreigner - it is I guess a derogatory name for the white man - but we don't seem to mind.

The Islanders call us Palagi (pronounced Palangi) and here in Auckland we have the largest Polynesian populated city in the world.

I went to the funeral today - to think when I was a youngster we never ever went to a funeral - my first one was my grandfather's when I was sixteen. Today was lovely with Grandchildren of the deceased and one of his brothers all there. One of his daughters eulogy was read out by the officiant and the younger daughter was going to do her own reading but couldn’t so handed it over - but the little granddaughter got up strode up to the podium with her piece of paper – and said “I will really miss you Poppy and I love you.”
It was a really nice funeral – no hymns just the officiant and work mates and friends getting up and talking about him. Then a video of pictures of him and family etc through the years. We later filled out a message tied to a balloon and we all released them together and watched them float away. It was also a lovely day – just felt it was a pity he could not see it.

Hi Persey.

When much younger we never went to funerals, so when my mother died it hit me like a ton of bricks.
