Hi Helen I have received thankyou, I will drop you an email with the people I am currently sending out to (it's the same as Ann except that I have forwarded to SRS) .

In future I think it's only fair to the regular writers to make it clear that if someone wishes to read work but not write anything , then they do at very least acknowledge and preferably'critique' what is sent to them. Or if they can't commit to either writing or critiquing due to lack of time, that they drop out until they can? Does that sound fair to everyone?

Hi everyone

I've not received your latest writing Helen, but rest assured I will acknowledge it,as always :O)
Sorry you were hurt...I would have been too if 'said' to me.

Thanks for new suggestions Rose. I'm about to finish my story so will keep them in mind.
...and I do agree with what you say Rose, sounds fair to me.

AnninGlos Report 11 Mar 2011 21:25

Yes Rose, that sounds very fair. At the moment it is like sending out into a void with some people.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 11 Mar 2011 21:29

No, I have just had another look and nothing in my in box from helen. Except for a critique of my 2 pieces sent out this weekend.

I will be away from tomorrow so please don't worry if you don't get an acknowledgement from me. I don't think we have internet access this time. Some horrible person has messed the broadband up apparently.

Just a thought , about songs being some of the great poems just set to music. Always worth listening to the 'wordy' songs of some of the greats for inspiration.

Leonard Cohen poet and songwriter.

"Love Itself"

The light came through the window,
Straight from the sun above,
And so inside my little room
There plunged the rays of Love.

In streams of light I clearly saw
The dust you seldom see,
Out of which the Nameless makes
A Name for one like me.

I’ll try to say a little more:
Love went on and on
Until it reached an open door –
Then Love Itself
Love Itself was gone.

All busy in the sunlight
The flecks did float and dance,
And I was tumbled up with them
In formless circumstance.

I’ll try to say a little more:
Love went on and on
Until it reached an open door –
Then Love Itself
Love Itself was gone.

Then I came back from where I’d been.
My room, it looked the same –
But there was nothing left between
The Nameless and the Name.

All busy in the sunlight
The flecks did float and dance,
And I was tumbled up with them
In formless circumstance.

I’ll try to say a little more:
Love went on and on
Until it reached an open door –
Then Love itself,
Love Itself was gone.
Love Itself was gone.

Hi Ann , no you're right I haven't sent this week. I may not be able to send anything much for a while , but still reading and enjoying everyone's work and will send comments whenever I can.

I very much enjoyed reading about your time in the lakes, I think I may head off there one of these days for a rest cure lol. ( but possibly not all the walking bit!)

AnninGlos Report 21 Mar 2011 21:34

I'll wait next week then before sending anything. Don't want to be the only one sending things out. Sorry Rose, hadn't realised that you were unable to join in at the moment.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 22 Mar 2011 10:37

blend them together BC you might have a winner then.

Actually I was just reading something in one of the 'Write' magazines and it suggest changing the story to write from another character's view point.

Thanks Rose.

I have just been browsing through an old Writers' Forum magazine. Reading a bit about poetry I have to admit I had never heard of a triolet, a cinquain or a clerihew. (As there were no examples I still don't know what they are Lol!!! I did know what a haiku and an acrostic were (The latter thanks to Maggie).

Then they were talking about a new form (this was August last year) called a minute poem, apparently a modern American form based on the idea of a single minute in time. It has 60 syllables representing 60 seconds. Arranged in 12 lines 8.4.4.4.8.4.4.4.8.4.4.4. And the rhyme pattern being aabbccddeeff.

Example by Christine Jordan

It spreads its wings and with a flick
a camera click
of beauty splays
before my gaze
A long exposure held in frame
the light became
intersecting
stripes reflecting
shafts shot through with transparent strings
on silvered wings
The picture lay
A blink away
