Good Morning Janet,
Hope you have a great day with your friends, and that you catch lots if fish,

Allan, There is a man with a fishing boat locally, I occassionally buy a sea bass from him - and he catches mackerel in season, lobster and crab.

Good evening everyone.

Berona I love sea food, please bring some prawns for me as well.

I have finally finished the flipping curtains (excuse my language)
I ended up not starting them until this afternoon and it didn't take too long to do the first bit because I could use the sewing machine.
I then needed to lay them out on the lounge floor, but OH had gone out and we have a really heavy oak coffee table which takes two to move it, so I had to wait until he came home. They are very large curtains,so I really needed him to help me stretch them out and measure them, so I could turn them up. I have sewn really heavy thermal linings into them as well. Most of it was hand stitching,so it has taken ages and my poor finger is aching.

All we have to do now is to go and put up some new rail and hang them. I just pray that they are the correct length.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 4 Dec 2009 23:11

Good Evening Linda,

I just knew you were tangled up in those curtains - well done anyway.
Now that you've practiced on them, could you come here - we have a very similar job to do.
OH bought new curtains in the summer, and they need lining. They are big curtains with a 98 inch drop. So it's a big job, hopefully may get done before winter is over.
I do hope your cinema curtains are now long enough

I shall be there straight away Tec. These were 90 by 90, they were already lined, but I have added the thick plasticy thermal linings in order to make them very thick and wind proof. The poor projectionists are really cold in their little room in the winter..

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 4 Dec 2009 23:22

Think how grateful the frozen projectionists will be,
They could of course wear little bunny suits, fleecy ones - you could always cut the ears off - they'd be as warm as toast in them,

Put it to them - they'll love it,

Tec

What strange ideas you have Tec. I will put it to them, but somehow I don't see them agreeing to it.

I have just realised the time, so I am off to bed. Sorry not to have been here long.

Goodnight everyone.

Goodnight Linda, sleep well, keep warm,

I'm off to bed now too,

So goodnight everyone

Gidday Aussies,

I am a central victorian, from a place that has a permanent rain cloud above us and the most beautiful mountain ranges to boot.

How is everyone Aussie and wanna-aussie alike??

Hi there Danielle and welcome:-))

I'm also a Victorian, near Ballarat. There's not much rain here, though!!

Linda..Your poor fingers must be sore after all that hand sewing, All the cinema goers will be nice and comfy with the new curtains.

Alison..If you like Scottish romance you would like Diana Gabaldon's Cross stitch series, its my favorite. Ive read the books three times. There are 7 books in all.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend, take care:-))

Hello Danielle and welcome to the thread. You will meet everybody as they come on here - mostly in the morning (Oz time) but any time really. If no-one is here, just post what you like and someone will eventually answer it.

You can send some of your rain over here where I am in western Sydney. If and when we get rain, it only lasts for about five minutes and does nothing!

Janet - I placed an order with WW to be delivered on Monday. Because I will be home all day, I chose a wide time-frame (8am to 2pm). That is the cheapest for delivery ($5), then they gave me a discount of $5 so maybe that's the free delivery. Anyway, I am taking the invoice with me to check the prices - I'm sure the odd cent or two has gone onto the prices - but it still seems quite good. I'll know more when the delivery is made!

SueMaid Report 5 Dec 2009 08:10

Hello all - my apologies for not being on this morning. A little drama with 3 y.o. grandson. His other grandparents babysit last night while our daughter and her partner went to a Christmas do. While they were out the little fellow had an accident. They didn't ring his mum as they said they didn't think it warranted bringing our daughter home. They said he cried for awhile and then said he was tired so they put him to bed. Daughter went to check on him and his eye was very swollen, his eyelid had bled onto his pillow. He also had an "egg" on his forehead. Daughter woke him up and then spent the night with him waking him on occasion to make sure he was ok. So this morning she rang us to go down and sit with the children while she took him to the doctors for a check-up. The doctor was astounded that his other grandparents allowed him to go to sleep so soon after a head injury and was also concerned about the possible damage to his eye. Luckily there appears to be no damage although he has a beautiful black eye. My daughter now feels she can't allow his other grandparents to watch the children again - especially as they don't seem to know how it happened. I've asked her to calm down before she decides what to do. So all in all it's been a difficult morning. I'd welcome your comments.

Hello Danielle. You are very welcome on here and I hope you pop in often. Of course we're all crazy but we're harmless:-))

Hi to everyone else - hope you are all well.

Allan

Allan Report 5 Dec 2009 09:00

Hi Danielle. I'm in West Oz which is probably just as well as the others think I'm very strange.....just because I go for walks at 3.00 am and talk to wheelie bins!

Sue I'm sorry to hear about your grandson. Not being a grandparent I can't offer any advice, but at a recent family do at our house (ok my 60th 18 months ago!) my niece and nephew both remarked that our house was not very Child-proof.

I think that it is something we tend to forget as our own children get older. It was only the visit by a couple of actve great nieces and nephews that reminded us.

We have just got back from the Garden Party, the temp at 1.30 was 37oC

When I go to these free do's I make a beeline for the red wine. Today one glass and then just over a litre of water.

We now have the aircon on at home.

Good evening berona, if you are still up an not watchinh The Bill

Allan

Berona

Berona Report 5 Dec 2009 09:15

I know how your daughter must feel, Sue and it doesn't sound good, but it's also possible for the litle ones to have an accident without us seeing them. We feel we are watching them all the time and they still do things we don't see. If they didn't actually see what happened, they might not realise that he hit his head, but yes, it is necessary to watch them for four hours after a hit to the head.

It's hard to say when you weren't there to see it yourself (and I don't think the in-laws are quite the same as your own mum, for a lot of us) but perhaps if she explains the need to keep them awake in such an instance, they will be more alert in the future - also she needs to be firm about contacting her when something like that happens.

Berona Report 5 Dec 2009 09:19

Good evening Allan. Hope you enjoyed the garden party - and the red wine.

Thanks for reminding me - I have about 10 minutes before The Bill starts. I have to sit and watch it since my DVD recorder broke. Problem is, I don't see the end of it because I fall asleep! That's why I like to record it - I get a second chance to see it all!
