No Persey, no playgerisation...I never passed it off as my own:

I just copied it, as I suspect may of the pantomime ditties have been copied as I saw a few familiar ones whilst looking for the Workhouse one

I hadn't seen that one before and it wasn't the one that I was searching for but I found it quite amusing.

It's a bit like the schooldays one which starts "When I was walking past St. Pauls"

I'm back. I've had a yogurt and I've read all the posts since I left - my goodness, you people can talk!

Allan, you brought back memories - just before I left England after nearly two wonderful years, I had a job which required me to walk across the front of St.Paul's each day to get there......Ah!...nostalgia!

Don't feel like eating cereal at this time of day, but I think I'll make some toast to go with the coffee.

Night Diane, sleep well and warm x

I carry a nice big hand bag, its a good thing too as everyone of my children and OH want to store their bits and bobs in it when we are out.
I usually end up walking lop sided, due to the weight of the thing!! LOL

Lunch time here so think I will also go and have a coffee as well Berona. Just hard boiled an egg so will make him a filled roll.

Love you and leave you all.

Sleep well Tec love to the Duchess
If you have looked in Pat have a good sleep.
Colin glad you are okay - if you are popping in to have a look.
Bye Sue - I also have to go to the Aussie Butcher to get my leg of lamb. (not for the panto) Having already got my leg of ham.
See the rest of the Australian crew later and if you are looking in Alison

I have just had a quick skim through all i have missed,so apologies later on when I have missed something.
Perse I am glad that the little one is fine. The nine year old next door had her appendix out a couple of months ago. After a couple of days, her mum was trying to stop her from swinging on the climbing frame in the garden. Oh the resilience of the young.

Alison, I have been keeping you in my thoughts and hope that it is going as well as it can. (sounds odd, but you know what I mean)

Tec, I hope that you are feeling better, man flu is really serious you know (well it is when OH gets it) , so take care of yourself.

I only have ergonomic bags now because my left shoulder ached so much when I carried an ordinary hand bag.

Contents
I umbrella (incredibly lightweight)
1 purse (incredibly heavy - must ditch the coins)
2 small packs of tissues
1 pen
1 pencil
1 comb
1 folding shopping bag (incredibly lightweight)
my mothers house keys.

Pretty pared down, I would say.

I have a zillion things to do so will catch up later on.

Hello Linda

Take it you are back, hope you are ready for Christmas fare and had a good trip home. I know when I go to family funerals it is all the same old, same old and we say we must keep in touch etc and that is it until either a wedding an anniversary or another funeral.

I am working today - just do a couple of days a month or so helping out the Managing Director of the company I used to work for. Go to his home, pays me well, pays me mileage and his glamorous wife makes me a nice lunch - she is a real sweetie and they have a youngster same age as my grandson - he is dyslexic along with a few other problems - but he is such a good kid and I have sussed out what he likes to read - and he draws pictures for me.

So this was just a brief pop in on the way to the shower - so will catch you all later. Have a good night - and to the Aussies enjoy your day it is overcast here but think it is going to be fine.

Persey.

Isn't anyone talking on this thread at the moment?

WHERE IS EVERYBODY?????

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Dec 2009 21:07

I am indeed back, we got back last night. Going down was fine because we broke the journey and stayed overnight with my daughter.
Coming back was a long slog because we did it with just two short stops so we could change over driver.

I was so glad we went because there was hardly any one there. Just OH and me, plus two more cousins from Yorkshire and the husband of one of them. We had all decided to make the trip down more or less at the last minute.

My uncle never married, but for fifty years, he lived with a friend and his wife. they had moved around the country together, but had settled down south many years ago. The only other person at the funeral was the friend, who is now a very elderly gentleman. His wife is bed bound so couldn't come. My uncle had actually been in a nursing home since June, so you would have thought a member of staff would have attended.

It would have been horrific if the poor old man had been on his own, it just doesn't bear thinking about. We were all so pleased that we had put all the Christmas activities to one side and made the effort.

Alison, if you look in, I hope that you are hanging in there.

Tecwyn Report 10 Dec 2009 21:16

Good Morning/Evening Everyone,

Hope you are all fired with enthusiasm for the Festive Season - it won't be long.
I'm sure you will all be relieved to know that I am not so grumpy today. A little disappointed, because I had intended going to an auction today to bid for an antique occassional table that I'd seen there. This one was beautifully carved by a craftsman, with the date 1815 carved into the top, with Welsh dragons worked into it. Made of oak, black with age, and a wonderful patina that only comes with age.
I am not usually drawn to carved furniture, but this was rather special.
Anyway, I wasn't able to go, so a bit miffed about that.

Welcome back Linda, hope you are not too tired after such a long trip.

Hi Diane, 4 days - 4 days 4 days, I am nearly as excited as you,

Hi Perse - have you had a go with the new hedge cutter yet?

Berona Report 10 Dec 2009 21:26

Hello Linda. Good to have you back. I'm sure you feel a lot better for having gone to the funeral. I agree that someone from the nursing home should have gone, but it's all a matter of having a free bed to take on another paying customer these days, isn't it?

There seems to have been a kerfuffle on other threads about a nasty and inappropriate comment made elsewhere - with the blame going out in the usual direction. A lot of just-as-nasty comments were made (with some unacceptable language used too) and now it seems that the wrong one was blamed. I wonder how many apologies will be forthcoming? Week-end specials a bit early this week?

Looks like a very nice day coming on here. It could get up to 28 later, but that's better than 38 which we had on Monday/

Allan

Allan Report 10 Dec 2009 21:27

Good morning/evening all.

Berona, there was no need to shout. You startled me!

Linda, I'm glad that your journey was worth it. Even if there weren't may mourners at the Funeral at least those who did attend went because the wanted to and not as a 'duty'

Speaking of Duty I recieved a Crie De Couer yesterday from the Shire of Dardanup where I had been working recently.

It seems that the young lady I was mentoring at the time just upped sticks and left citing 'health' reasons.

The CEO never contacted me as he thought that I had gone working elsewhere

I said no I was only booked until the end of November.

CEO's response..."I never knew that: but T doesn't return until the middle of December"

My response "Tell him about it when he returns, not me"

Anyway they had a few problems with untreated water supplies and the WA Health Dept were demanding to know what action was being taken.

So I now have a few more days work and a proposal to put to them for a medium turn contract as it is nigh on impossible to get qualified environmental health officers in local government

Berona,
I saw the some of the trouble on the thread you reffered to - I just find it so sad that there are those out there intent on causing others unhappiness. Why do the feel the need to do this? to people they've never met, or likely too. Surely there is enough trouble in the world, without people being spiteful to each other on a genealogy site - some sad folk out there.
