She is probably out sun bathing. If I went out, I would go rusty in the rain.

anyway goodnight, I am off to bed

I had a letter today, in with a Christmas card. From a lady who was a neighbour at the last place we lived 15 yrs ago. She describes the events in the neighbourhood - it reduced us to tears. I so wish I could put it on here, but that would not be appropriate - funniest thing I've read in ages.

Berona Report 10 Dec 2009 23:09

The only advantage I can see is that although my family email me copies of photos taken of them and their children, which I store and/or print - they would not bother to send photos of their friends, so I do get to see these and see either what their friends look like, or how they have grown up if I knew them as youngsters.

Yes, Tec - Twitter is yet another one, I understand, similar to Facebook - but I haven't bothered to look at it yet. I will say, that Friends Reunited has been good. I have seen names there of people who were in my class at school in 1946!! It's nice to see what became of them after we all finished school.

Don't know what happened to Sue. Perhaps a phone call or a visitor - hope no emergency.

I must away. My posterior is reminding me that I have been sitting here for the last couple of hours - so must get a few things done and exercise the legs a bit. Hope you all keep warm and sleep well. Talk again to you later. 'bye!!

Hi to any of you wherever you may be.

I am never sure whether I am tail end Charlie or first on board... with the time difference etc.

Glad to see you are lawfully employed again Allan - trust you won't be needing the Mac anymore - oh sorry forgot about your evening encounters with wheelie bins. I am very happy for you - now as soon as we get through Christmas and himself can get shoes on - he shall be out from under my feet.

Tec - the hedge - What Hedge? He (not moi) has cut it so low I can now see daylight on the office side of the house. Next thing is a front fence - picket variety - could not find the survey peg and did not want to encroach on council land so we had to get a surveyor in. They disappeared and I said to hubby where are they - they had to go along to the next street and set the line from there - all way beyond me.

Yes Linda I tend to agree with you about hospitals and rest homes sending someone along. When my father died, they said they would be coming and didn't - we had an afternoon tea for family and friends put on at the funeral home - so afterwards we took all the leftovers around to the resthome for the patients. The owners were rather embarassed that they had not bothered to send anyone.

Facebook - I think I will have to join - both daughters do it and I know they have posted photos with me in them as well - plus I have friends on it. We shall see - OH may not be too happy about it, reckons he can never get on the computer as it is.

Well that's my twittering and wittering for now.

I hope Allan hasn't turned up at the office in that mac - I think Benny Hill had a mac like that - thick glasses, and a beret. That is not the image I have of Allan.

After all my moaning about the weather, today was beautiful, sunny, clear, no wind, and crisp. There was a fabulous sunset over the calm sea. Took the dog for a walk late this afternoon, and could see clear across the bay to the Lleyn Peninsular. They have forcast a cold spell now, that will be seasonal for December, and preferable to rain.

Perse - Sounds like someone was overly enthusiastic with the new hedge cutter - never mind, it'll grow back.
Did the surveyor ever come back? have you established the legal boundary yet?

Diane - 3 days 3 days 3 days. I do hope you don't jump out of bed on the
first day off, and run up the road out of habit?

I expect Linda is on the allotment picking sprouts because the sun is out.

Sue is conspicuous by her absence - I do hope all is well with her.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Dec 2009 19:17

The sun was not out here today Tec, it has been an awful day. There was a white frost this morning and at the same time it was really foggy. The fog never lifted all day.

I started the day by receiving a letter from mum's council telling me that if I didn't pay the outstanding amount owed, they would take action to recover it. It didn't say what the money was for and as far as I was aware, we didn't owe anything. So I phoned and found that it was to do with the care call pendant which mum wore to summon help if she needed it.
Having looked on her computer the person I spoke to said that it didn't look as if I owed anything. She tried to ring the department concerned but they wouldn't answer. She said that she would try again later and that I should just ignore the demand.
Now not being a trusting sort of person, that wouldn't do for me, so I asked for the name and number to ring myself. I did get through and of course we don't owe anything.

It is annoying though because the way the demand was phrased, I can imagine lots of people being really worried by it.

I then had a nice drive in the fog and went to the cemetery and placed the wreath from my uncles coffin on mums grave. it seemed a nicer idea to do that than just to leave it at the crematorium in Bournemouth where it would be thrown away after a couple of days.

I then went to fulfil a promise to Sue, or to her husband to be more precise, by taking some photo's for him. It was a pity about the dense fog though as they didn't turn out very well.

So that is my day and now I intend to keep warm and am looking forward to the snow which they are forecasting for next week.

Diane I am on the countdown with you.

Waves to Alison if you look in

Sorry the weather was so horrid for you today Linda, strange how it can be so different over a relatively small area. You should have stayed home in the warm researching your tree.

Councils are the most infuriatingly incompetant people imaginable. They drove me nearly insane when trying to wind up my mothers estate. First they couldn't decide how much was outanding in Council Tax. Then eventually they billed me, then they returned the cheque, stating nothing was owed. Then 3 months later I had heavy letters threatening me with Court action. Fools

That was a nice thing to do with the wreath, and thoughtful.

The Duchess's GP phoned her today, to enquire how she was. My quiet acid lecture must have struck home - but he did look very embarrassed at the time.

Good morning/evening. I apologise if I've worried you by going AWOL but after some nastiness on the board that affected someone I call a friend I really felt I needed some time off. This person was very distressed and up all night sickened by something that was written about her on another site and I was here, all afternoon my time, "talking" to her. I'm afraid I became embroiled in an argument on here because I was so annoyed.

Linda, a big thank you from OH. Although the day was very foggy he loved the photo of the town hall. He thought the fog gave the photo a very "old world" look. He said the fog brought back memories:-)) A nice thought to put the wreath on your mother's grave. When my daughter was married she visited the memorial gardens the next day and placed some roses from her bouquet with her grandparents. My father in law had passed away only 5 months before her wedding and my mother in law some years before.

Tec your day sounds lovely. I can just imagine you stood outside in the sun soaking up the view. I hope your Duchess is well and also enjoyed the lovely weather.

Allan I'm glad you've got some more work - that'll keep you out of mischief:-)) Of course I hope this doesn't affect your performance on the panto thread. There are people relying on you:-)

We went out for dinner last night. This is a dinner put on every Xmas for union delegates so it will actually be our last one now that OH has retired. The meal was lovely, the company good but the speeches boring. Afterwards we gave friends a lift home and stayed for coffee and the most beautiful cake. I don't know what it's called but our friends are Croation and I think it may be a specialty from their homeland.

Morning..

Yes Tec boundary peg is in and we are quite a bit lighter in the pocket moneywise.
Today we have to go and get the mower - it has just had a service - I asked if they could do something about the pull cord as well. I used to have no problem starting the mower - then I broke the cord - it was replaced and have never been able to start it since. Himself has to come out in his jimjams to start it as I like to mow in the cool of the morning before the sun has reached the yardarm.

Whenever we have problems with incorrect charging over here they blame the computer. I had an argument with the IRD and they told me that the computer did not go to the next page and so it missed it.
We have Tui (beer) billboards over here that would say - Yeah Right!!!

Morning Sue

All this talk of coffee and cake and I have not got around to breakfast - been busy -

Sounds like your day had its downs and ups. I actually don't understand some of these threads and the way people speak (type) to each other is beyond belief. Life is way too short to bicker like they do.

Have a nice evening Tec and Linda enjoy your day Sue
And to all the others good night and good day.
And may the good Christmas Fairy be taking care of you Alison.
Not many more nights Diane....

Cheers all

Hi Persey - the voice of reason. I was silly to bring my anger onto the board but the person involved was so distressed and it was upsetting to know that it was through another person's spite.

Hi Tec and Linda goodevening to you both and goodmorning to any other's who arrive either as I'm posting or later.
3day's 3day's 3day's, nearly there.
Tec I too hope I don't jump up at the normal time though my alarm will be set for at least 3hrs later the first morning.
Linda it was a good idea to put the wreath on your mum's grave, that's the sad thing about cremation's, unless you send the flower's elsewhere they are just left to rot, I think that is why a lot of people request no flower's at a cremation's and ask for donation's usually for a charity.
Weather here today was similar to your's Tec but it has now gone very cold BRRRRR is Freezing in fact.

Hi Sue, sorry to hear your friend was upset, I too don't understand why people on some of the thread's have to be so horrid to each other, arn't there enough problem's in this world with-out row's on the thread's with people who are suppose to be here to find family member's and natter to other's, seem's as though there are those that don't have anything better to do but cause trouble.

Good evening/morning everyone.

I didn't buy any flowers Diane, I made a donation in my uncles name to our local hospice as there was no nominated charity for the funeral. The friend my uncle had lived with thought that was a good idea. The wreath was the one he had bought, again was pleased it wasn't being wasted. I took a photo of it in situ and emailed it to him.

Perse if himself came out in his night attire, couldn't you persuade him to mow the lawn as well?

I am glad to have been of service Sue, it was difficult to get any pictures because the market was on and there were ugly bins and all sorts in the way

Hi, Diane - hope you are feeling better. Not long now till your break. Yes it is horrible what can be said and some would say that the nastiness on a website shouldn't upset people so much but what I read was disgusting and very distressing for the person concerned. With any luck it's over with now.
