Good Morning Sue,
I hope the day brightens for you - I suppose the garden enjoys the rain .
Is the flooding you mention very severe?
The conditions in some parts of the UK have gone from bad to worse. Here everything is covered in ice - it is difficult to stand up outside. I haven't seen it as bad as this for many years, especially as we are right on the coast.

Linda has been so helpful looking for my ancestors - but it would be expediant not to mention "Aunty Hannah" who may have been my Gt Grandmother, or my Great Aunt...........long story.....

Good morning Berona

Good evening Tec.

Berona, yes I did go for a walk this morning but a shorter one than usual as I need to get my things ready for our couple of days away.

Good Morning Berona,
Good Morning Allan,

Berona, So pleased to know you got the tablets, quininne are they? be best to get a stock in. These things always seem to strike when everywhere is shut down for days. I remember getting terrible toothache onn a Good Friday. and suffered for days in agony.

Hi Allan,
I hope the car valeting passed muster, and it doesn't rain to spoil the gleam. I hope you both really enjoy your stay in Freemantle - long time since my size 10s walked those streets - enjoy yourselves.

Allan Report 6 Jan 2010 21:28

Tec, it sems funny to hear of all the snow and ice in the UK, see the flooding in parts of Queensland and NSW and Perth surrounded by bush fires.

They have caught a 17 year old male who started a fire near Caversham in the Swan Valley which is a winery/tourist area juse east of Perth.

If he is convicted he faces up to 20 years in prison under new Legislation passed late last year.

Ironically OH and my daughter will be staying in Caversham in March and going to see Tom Jones performing at one of the wineries.

Tec - here is a news report link

Allan I'm glad the weather is cooler. Hope your trip goes well - I'm sure you will both have a lovely break. Enjoy! I can't understand anyone deliberately starting a fire but I guess that it's a mental illness that causes someone to do this.

Berona - good to hear you are getting better and sleeping well. Hope you'll still see your doctor:-))

Sue xx

Sue, the really tragig part is that in WA several of the younger volunteer firfighters have been charged with arson at various times!

It seems that they enjoy the "glory' of having their names in the local press. They have never stopped to think of the possible consequences

Allan

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 6 Jan 2010 21:55

That's a bad situation isn't Sue - thanks for the link.

It is indeed hard to understand anyone deliberately starting a fire, and if it's malicious, and they are in their right mind then 20 years is not long enough when you think of the potential loss of life and property. I f they are mentally ill, then that's a different matter that needs medical help.

I hope that you have a very nice time Allan

I haven't been out today, we are forecast to have another 8-15 days of this. that seems a long time span, but that is what they said on the news. Out of interest, I looked my post code up on the website which shows when the severe weather fuel payments kick in. I don't qualify, but they are extra payments to help those on low incomes. It has to have been sub zero for six days to trigger the payment. We would beon our third week here.

I am glad that yoou are getting more sleep Berona. I bet your daughter is cross with you for not going to the doctors

Good Evening Linda,
I think you are in one of the worst hit areas, though the south of England was badly hit by snowfall last night - I did feel sorry for all the motorists stuck for hours on the motorways.

My daughter was delighted today because her school was shut, so she got a day off - to catch up with the ironing she said.

Hi, Linda:-)

I've been sorting out photos, certificates and other documents with a plan to scrapbook them. I've already made up two albums but need to start on another with military info. and places and churches of importance. Everytime we've been to the UK I've been armed with more information regarding places of importance. Next trip will have to be several weeks to get to all the areas I've found since the trip in 2008.

When you do come, it would be lovely to meet up Sue and of course you will be nearby.
According to the live feed on my computer, it is minus seven outside,so | will be off to bed soon before the house cools down after the heating goes off.

My daughters lives in Berkshire, she worked from home today and will do tomorrow because it is too dangerous to drive

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 6 Jan 2010 22:33

Linda,
What is this "live feed" on your computer?

Tec

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 6 Jan 2010 22:37

it was just a feature on the new laptop in windows 7 Tec. It puts a little icon on the desktop which links to a weather site. You set your town and it shows you the temperature and a symbol for snow, rain, cloud etc. If I click on it to make it slightly larger, it gives the maximum and minimum temps for the next three days. It is quite a nifty little thing

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 6 Jan 2010 22:41

That sounds really cool - no pun intended.

Did I makeyour head hurt today? Sorry!

Berona Report 6 Jan 2010 22:44

Good evening Tec - hope you and the duchess are well.
Yes, I won't mention all the things my daughter "would have" done and all the things which I "should have" done. I got my lecture! I sometimes wonder who is the mother and who is the child?

Years ago, I was able to buy Quinine Sulphate tablets and only needed to take one when I had a cramp. The reaction was instantaneous and I didn't need to take another for weeks, or even months! However, when I ran out of them, I found they were no longer available over the counter - I needed a prescription - and my doctor was reluctant to give me one for them - she prescribed a milder dosage, but it worked. However, that was a few years ago and they had run out. The tablets I was able to get don't contain quinine - they have a lot of Magnesium in them - but I swear, I will never allow myself to run out of them again!!!

I just remembered to check my email Tec, I will continue to dig around tomorrow. Don't worry I love helping people and am always loathe to let go until I solve things. In fact it was helping Sue which got me posting on this thread.

Blow, the lottery draw has just been on and I didn't get a single number.

I am off to bed now, so goodnight everyone

Sorry I disappeared for awhile. My daughter and I have been making amends on the phone - we had a little tiff last night. We rarely argue but I can't bear bad feelings between us so I ate humble pie and apologised. All's well:-))

We have an icon on OH's laptop which tells him the temperature in Stockton - freezing.
