Well as it's nearly midnight, I too must go off to my igloo

Enjoy your day down under,
sleep well up top.

Still no sign of Diane, have you gone somewhere hot without us?

Goodnight my friends

Tec - I'm trying! I'm exercising my legs as much as possible. As for kicking them up high - well, that's another story. My Mum was a dancing teacher (children) and she could still do the splits at 70, whereas I couldn't even do them at 7!

As for the knitting. Looks like I've been busted! Now you know where that intricate pattern on your nightcap came from! Didn't you get the message?

Hello all:-)

Sorry to say, to all those trying to cope with the freezing cold temps and snow, we are at the other end of the scale.
Today's temp here is 36 degrees, very hot!!! Weel I did say sorry!!!!

Yesterday I spent half the day in the hair salon, they have THE best massage chair - the ladies here would understand what I am talking about, I almost fell asleep in it:-))

My oldest who is working odd shifts at the moment had a very nasty surprise two nights ago. He picked himself up from the supermarket, (one of the biggest here in Vic) a ready made microwave dinner - whilst eating it he tasted something metallic in his mouth, and bit on something very hard - it turned out to be a bolt!!!!! Not a small one I may add. It must of fell out of the machinery????
Yesterday morning I took the meal back to the place where he'd bought it. The manager of the store was called, he had me fill out a form and humbly apologized. Oh, I got reimbursed for the said meal!!!
My son said he would stick to my meals in the future:-)) Ive just finished making him a pasta bake as he's off to work soon. He said to me "There's no bolts in it MUM, is there" ha ha !!

Sue, Ive ordered those books we were talking about the other night, (Stieg Larsson, 1 & 2) the thirds in the mail! Ive got a couple of other books to finish reading before I can start those, but I'm happy now, so thanks:-)))

Stay warm/cool:-))

Hi Carole

My OH has been on at me that I should read Stieg Larsson - he had been reading a review and reckoned they would be right up my street and now to see you and Sue talking about them - I think I may have to do so.

Maybe your son needed more iron and minerals in her diet. I won't by Frozen Foods from one manufacturer because three times they have been on our Fair Go program for having oddities in their packages.

Tim Minchin - I looked him up on google - I see he is actually British born and would you believe he was here in early December and I didn't notice. My daughter keeps up-to-date with comedy - when she lived at home we used to go to all sorts of stand up comedy gigs. She used to also love Theatre Sports and would take an active part in them as well.

Cheers
Pxx

Diane - don't you see what you've done? You have trained your computer to work only in the ridiculous hours that you keep!!! You'll have to start going to bed earlier.

Carole - I can see that the store would be happy for you to accept a refund - or a replacement. They are getting out of it lightly to what some people would have got out of them! I wonder what they claimed from the manufacturer?

Hi Persey

I kinda knew you would see the funny side of my son and his bolt:-)))

Yes Perse, the canvas bag singing, rock and roll nerd was born in Northhampton in the UK. No wonder I love him so much:-) He's a pommie like me:-)
I'm smilin, cos I'm listening to him at this moment, hope I don't slip up and swear:-))

Those books (Stieg Larsson) do sound very interesting, going by the synopsis (sp) when I was buying them online. Cant wait to read them;-))

Hi Berona:-))

How are you lovely lady:-))

I wouldn't have accepted a replacement, no way, I'll never buy that stuff again!!!
It was a good learning curve for myself and my son:-))
Ive never had that sort of thing happen to me before, so am unsure what the stores procedures are???? Anyway I'm just happy he didn't break a tooth and didn't swallow the thing:-))

Hello everyone. :)

Back to work this week and I am shattered ! Nice to see some of the oldies and they were pleased with a visitor as some don't have any visitors at all.

Still warm here and its looking the same for the weekend. If only we could swap just a little warmth for some cool that would work out ok...lol

Has anyone made any new year resolutions?

Carole....lucky you having a massage chair at hairdressers...I love having my hair done and every time without fail I nearly fall asleep when they are washing my hair.

Hope everyone is enjoying their day and the Poms their sleep...staying warm.

Hello. Are we having a little meeting of the Aussie and Kiwi ladies. How nice:-))

It's lovely here at the moment. About 26 degs. with a breeze blowing and it's sunny after an overcast day.

Carole I do hope you enjoy the Larsson books - I think you will. They are a little different and pull you in very quickly. The first one is excellent. One of my darlings bought me 3 Wire in the Blood dvds and I've been enjoying them. I was a bit lazy today and watched 2 of them this afternoon but I had the house to myself and that doesn't happen very often. I had to take advantage of it.

I love having my hair done and could quite easily fall asleep.

My four-footed friend caught a field mouse - and had to bring it in to show me. She went straight into my bedroom and dropped in one of my shoes!
Now, my legs are improving, but they're not that good! so I finished up sitting on a bar stool with feet up off the floor whilst the poor little mouse fought a battle to the end. Thankfully, it was quick. I then came down from my perch and confiscated it. I fed the cat. She keeps looking at me like she knows I did something, but she's not sure what. At least, now I can sit on an ordinary chair to eat my dinner instead of the bar stool - with my feet up! You know what us women are like when mice are around! This one had to be lucky if it was one inch long - but it's still a mouse!!!

Persephone

Persephone Report 8 Jan 2010 08:01

A neighbour's cat ate her mouse in our backyard and just left us the head on the lawn. I stood on it - luckily with shoes on and there was this crunch of skull.

Our disabled cats could not catch mice but one of them used to bring lizards in and then she would grab the tail and the lizard would leave it behind and dash off - usually under a bookshelf and poor old Klein did not know what had happened. She also used to bring us leaves from next door and if there was a piece of screwed up paper at their place she would bring it home. My daughter used to call out mail for you mum - courier's been. She was the hunter - he was useless would wobble all over the place - would put out the dinner and she would wait until he had decided which bowl he would eat from and then she would have hers. He was such a messy eater - knock the bowl over - stand in it - had no manners what so ever. But he was very very loving - he loved everybody.

Oh goody, it is snowing again. Only minus four outside,so OH is out in the garage again building his wormery. Today he has a coat on as well as the extra jumpers and his hat. Yes Tec, trousers, shoes and socks as well.

I am just staying put and cooking comfort food. Home made soup for lunch and a stew on the go for dinner. I have actually resorted to doing some extra housework of the cleaning the light fittings with my feather duster type. You can tell I am getting bored. Really I am just trying to avoid Tec's complicated tree.

Only joking Tec, I am going to try and get things straight in my head, then send you a message to see if you can shed any more light on it. I hate to be beaten, although I fear that I will never be able to sort out the top of OH's tree which has had me going round in circles for years.

Diane Report 8 Jan 2010 17:37

Good afternoon/ evening all
Well I'm sitting here freezing cold, more so than any other day.
Why ? I hear you ask, because my stupid boiler has broken down and houseing association arn't coming out till Monday at the earliest so that mean's the only form of heating I have got is a gas fire in the liveing room and if I want hot water I have to boil the kettle BRRRRR.
I got about an hour and a half sleep last night as the B*****d up stair's found the noisest floor board in the bedroom above me and bounced his girlfriend on it all night ( if you know what I mean ) so I'm not in the best of mood's at the moment, in fact I livid so please know one upset me.

Berona hun it's not that I want to be up late as I was last night, it's a case of with upstair's antic's I cant get to sleep.

Tec hun, do you have a spare room I can rent, because if this goe's on much longer I will need to get out of here to keep my sanity lol.
