Berona

Berona Report 11 Jan 2010 23:09

I would not have known if a neighbour hadn't told me that the same people did his place and he had to stand over them to make sure they did his garage, as quoted. These people came recommended by the manufacturers, so if I don't hear back from the govt. dept., I'll be contacting the manufacturers!

As if that isn't enough. My n.d.neighbour comes from a country where they seem to live easier with vermin than we do. He doesn't cut his grass until it is waist-high - and that's when I have problems. Thankfully, my place is sprayed for cockroaches as I find dead ones in the garage. His grass was cut on Saturday - that's when my cat caught the field-mouse, and this morning, she brought in a lizard. No, not a little 2cm skink - this one was at least 15cm long and quite thick - and I have no grass at all! What do you do about people like that?

Must go now. I'm off to find out what my doc thinks about me. Talk to you all later.

I bought this house 15 years ago. There was no heating system, just coal fires, and an ancient Rayburn cooker/boiler. I had a quote from the only plumber available for a central heating system - quoted £5,000 which 15years ago was quite a lot of money.
So I bought everything myself, miles of copper pipe, 12 radiators, scores of fittings, valves etc, and a combi-boiler. Installed the system myself except for the boiler that had to be fitted by a qualified gas engineer.
Total cost = £1,300 - and six months ripping up old floorboards, but worth it.

Hi everyone..

I have seen that concert with Tom Jones advertised on television Allan... I am sure that they will enjoy it. I went to the opticians just before xmas and I needed bifocals :) apparently they are a bit difficult to adjust too so I am waiting for them to let me know they are ready.

Hope all goes well at the doctors Berona for you. Also glad to know that Carole and Mick are not been touched by the fires.

Hi everyone:-))

We are all still sweltering, I cant ever remember it being so hot!!
Yesterday when my hubby arrived home from work, he nearly passed out, the house was THAT hot.
I'd not set the temperature gauge properly on the air con - I should have set it one way but I'd set it in the opposite direction, it was like having the heater on instead of the cooling (I'll blame the heat) :-(((((

Last night we suffered the hottest night on record, in 100 years. The temp didn't drop below 37 Celsius. We expect the cool change to arrive soon, I hope!!!!
No fires this time, thank god. I pray it stays this way!!!

Stay well dear friends
Keep warm/stay cool.

Hi Carole ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~waves

You OH to make sure he is having plenty of fluids.
I am glad I am over here - we don't need airconditioning. The back door is open and the breeze is wafting up the hall and into the office where I am.
Our weather can't make up its mind though - will team down with rain and then be sunny as - and then the next thing you get drowned again.

It is difficult to sleep at night when it is too darned hot!!!

Take care

Perse ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ waves to Janet as always seem to miss her.

Congratulations on the rain Carole. Maybe it is all the time we spend on computers which makes us need glasses. No sign of Allan? maybe he is off to buy a white stick!

I have varifocals Janet, I had no problem at all getting used to them.

I have been worrying about Berona as well, I hope that just a change of medication was needed.I have decided that Berona is the nearest thing to a mother figure for me on this thread,so I am going to fuss over her. I bet she will be delighted when she reads that, as if she didn't have enough with her own daughter fussing. Feasibly she could be my mother, although she would only have been fifteen when she had me!

Berona

Berona Report 12 Jan 2010 11:17

What a lovely compliment, Linda. Thank you very much - but are you sure about the age? Wow - me a mother at 15! Perish the thought - I had too much to do before I settled down! I was almost twice that before I became a mother.

Well, I saw my doc, and she feels that it was only cramp - nothing else - and that it could have been caused by the drop in dosage of my thyroid medication. We went through the procedure I've seen in movies many times with the little hammer hitting the kneecap but my feet didn't fly into the air, and apparently they should have, so I've left some blood with her and she will tell me Thursday what the test shows - and will examine my legs again. My biggest worry was in thinking the numbness in the leg was a sign of stroke, but I had no other signs which should have accompanied it, so I'm a lot happier to know that.

I am glad that things seem to be OK Berona At least your doctor is back now and you have someone keeping an eye on you.

I was almost thirty before I had my first child as well, like mother like daughter lol
Actually my real daughter is going to be almost the same age as me when the baby arrives in mid July

Here we go again - just when I thought the snow and ice was beginning to go, it is snowing heavily again, and the weatherman forecasts dollpos of the stuff tomorrow. It was mentioned on TV news that Australia is experiencing the hottest temperatures in years - As I know I couldn't cope with that, I think I'm better off here in Lapland, freezing my knickers off.

Berona, How unkind of the doctor to hit your kneecaps with a hammer - ouch - Seriously, I'm so pleased the doc couldn't find anything obviously seriously wrong - though I know leg cramps are painful enough, and not being able to get about as you normally do must be very frustrating. Anyway, I hope the result of the blood tests are ok, and that your doctor can soon get you right again.
Sending you a big Welsh hug, known as a cwtch.........

Hope everyone else is well today, with special thoughts to Alison.

Good morning/evening everyone:-))

Berona - I'm so glad you've been to see your doctor and all seems to be alright. Did you tell her that you've had a load of internet friends telling you off?

Linda - what a lovely thing to say to Berona.

Tec - we are having temperatures up to 35 degs and above. Something we never had very often. If we did it would be followed by a southerly change that would bring relief. Now we have hot days for days on end. The humidity drains you of any energy you have and the gardens are neglected as only fools and me work out in the sun.

We haven't heard from Alison for awhile which is worrying. I do hope you are keeping well and cool if you're looking in, lovely girl.

I was a young mum - I'd had my three children by the time I was 28. I was married at 19 and had my daughter when I was 21. My daughter on the other hand had her first child at 30. In fact I can't imagine my daughter having a child at 21 - she was unmarried and very much into making a career for herself.

Good Morning Sue,
Hope you're bright and breezy today.
I've been busy inputing my tree onto Ancestry today, with a few changes. Lets say I've been doing a little judicous pruning. My Genes tree contains lots of side branches that I don't really want - they are all connected, but do I really need them? That sounds awful, but I hope you know what I mean.

Also mentally planning alterations to my garden. I'm not happy with it.It's far too fussy, and has too much in it - so I'm going to throw or give away lots of stuff, and just have some architechural sp things dotted about.
That will look better, and be easier to look after.
