Hello,

It was great to hear from Ali eh?
~~~to Janet, so you are in for some more of the studying Janet - I keep wondering whether I should go back to Uni and just muck around with some of their adult education studies. I could study Greek Mythology or Egyptian tombs or the Peloponnesian wars, anything that takes my mind away. My mind is never here so I probably would not notice.
This daylight saving malarky is wonderful until dusk - OH said come outside and now I am sitting here scratching feet and ankles inbetween typing - the mosquitoes and sandflies make a beeline for any part uncovered. Think I need a boiler suit and boots this time of the evening.
ۃۆۆۀۏەۜۜۜ ۃۆۆۀۏەۜۜ ۃۆۆۀۏەۜۜۜ ۃۆۆۀۏەۜۜ (that's me bobbing up and down scratching)
Allan..
I don't think it has anything to do with age, though we do have to take extra care with the elderly.
The other day when it was over 40 here, I had to go out in the afternoon - I got into my car (silly me) I checked the temp gauge it read 50C, I quickly jumped out of the car, to allow it to cool before getting back in.
I don't know what we would do if we didn't have the air-con!!!
Carole:-))
Persey, do the Egyptology.......I have always had an interest since seeing Manchester's Collection when I was a kid.
Lived not far from the Museum and was in walking distance. Many a rainy day was spent in the Egyptian Section.
Happy days
Carole, I wonder how our Ancestors got on before air conditioning?
I've seen photos from the beginning of the last century of people on the Goldfields...heavy crinoline and suits.
They were tough b*ggers!
I couldn't do it.
I think I told you Allan my Great Grandfather was at Coolgardie at the Burgess Mine - looking for his fortune - but I think he did take his jacket off but he still had a long sleeved shirt on and these thick serge trousers and boots etc.
I have watched a few programmes on the Egyptians - they were an amazing race - interesting how they designed the tombs of their pharaohs
they really thought it through.
Toot and come in.
Know a good clean joke?
Perse
Just to lighten my mood, I always feel sad when I talk about our Ancestors, or think about how hard their lives must have been:-(
Good morning everyone.
Ali, it was so lovely to see you post. I bet your son would love it if you gave him the special job of replying to a pm from Sue every week.
I couldn't believe it this morning when I looked out of the window, we have had lot's more snow overnight so everything is white again.
The weather has been odd here today. Cool but very humid. Sort of drizzly but not really raining.
We took our grandson into town and allowed him to pick a book. He wandered around the book shop with his finger on his mouth saying.."mmmm". He eventually picked a "dot to dot" book and then spent the afternoon doing some of them. He's quite clever as he was able to do the number dot to dots as well as the abc ones.
It was good to hear from Ali wasn't it.
I am really looking forward to doing all of the children's activities again,although it will be quite a while yet as the baby hasn't even been born yet lol.
I see you chickened out of the cinema, but the book sounds a much better idea as you could spend time with him.
It was indeed lovely to hear from Alison
Linda I think the snow you woke up to was the residue of what we had yesterday, the weatherman said it was heading your way - sorry.
The sun is out today - daylight at last, and there is a slow thaw.
When I was young I lived not far from London, Allan talking about visiting museums brought back some happy memories. From the age of 10/11, I regularly took the train into London to visit the museums, Natural History, Science, etc etc. The British Museum and the Egyptology Section was fascinating. Later in life I was fortunate enough to visit the pyramids in Egypt, and the Cairo museum.
Alison it was lovely to see you posting on here - I'm sure each of us think of you every day.........A Welsh cwtch to you lovely lady.
Good morning/evening to all
Carole, don't be sad about our Ancestors, they coped in their own way.
When on the Goldfields I usedto love visiting the only remains of long vanished townsites, the cemeteries.
That got me thinking as to how people got there and then what happened if they didn't like it.
Fine for me, back into the car and a few hours drive I was home. But for them???
I always think that the novels of Jane Austen etc never tell the true stories but a romanticised one of what times past times were really like.
Persephone, Tec I've always loved the Eygyptian Period of civilisation: I also marvel at the fortitude of the Museum Curator when six or seven scruffy, snotty nosed kids descended on the museum on a rainy day!
Linda, More snow?? I thought that by now the skies would be empty.
Good evening Allan. i was surprised by the snow. I hope that it goes away before the morning because we are going away, but just for one night.
It is OH's birthday on Sunday and instead of buying presents we usually go away instead.
With this bad weather, we have waited until the last minute. We are just going to a country house hotel for one night. We would have gone on Saturday night, but there are always weddings taking place. We don't want to be there then because it is too noisy and the staff are rushed off their feet.
I have booked a Champagne evening. That is a bottle of champers waiting in the room on arrival, a three course meal and of course full breakfast the following morning. Never mind the after Christmas diet, we can start that next week.
