Sue, they seem to be popping up all over the place!

Sandalford Winery are having have already had two or three, with more throughout the year.

The Brookehampton Winery near here (50 kms ) is having a tribute to Cliff Richards in February. Very crafty as the 'tribute' is in very small print and it is being put on to coincide with Cliff Richards WA appearance at the Burswood Casino Complex

A tribute!?! So they'll be getting someone who looks and sounds vaguely like Cliff Richards:-)) We've had quite a few Days down our way - all at wineries. Lionel Ritchie was here last year.

Good evening Allan,
Sorry I will be back and give you all my undivided attention in five minutes.I just can't keep up with all the sites I have open

Allan Report 11 Jan 2010 22:01

Sue, in WA it all started with the Leeuwin Winery (Margaret River) Annual Music Event Held every Summer, which attracted some of the top Artistes in the World: now every man and his winery has jumped on the band waggon!

There!

At least you have the nice weather for these concerts, ours always seem to end up as mud baths on the camping fields

Good Morning Allan,

If there be dragons - they'll be Welsh dragons - they're vegetarians.

Linda, I take your point about the kitchen, but the bread oven put mine to shame. Would you please discontinue the practice of sharpening the knives on the wall.

Sue..... Cliff Richards is EVEN older than me

Tec, Welsh dragons or not, they all get a bit hot under the collar.

Linda, at least you have the rain to turn the fields into mud!

Good evening and good morning all. Dull but warm here with an expected top of 37. Glad to know Carole and Mick are OK - although I would think there could not be much left to burn in Mick's area, after last year! Hope everything goes well for all who live in those areas.

Had a visit from son and DIL yesterday - and got another lecture. I also now have a very clean house, courtyard and car, thanks to them. Daughter is taking me to doc this morning.

I had the 'free' insulation installed a few weeks ago and accepted the quote by a company recommended by the manufacturer of the batts. I made sure I asked the man quoting if it included my garage and he assured me it did! My garage has internal access straight into my living room and it can get extremely hot or cold according to the weather.
Yesterday, my son checked for me and sure enough - there are no batts over the garage!....I have reported the matter to the government department. Trust them to do this to an elderly woman living alone!

I think that happened here too, Allan. The Hunter Valley started it off and now a few others have taken off with it.

Tec - I know how you must feel. On my Dad's side, my gr/gr/grandparents were pioneers of their district and build a house, later adding to it and using the original house for business. Although not on a grand scale like yours, their house is now used as a restaurant and is heritage-listed. On the two occasions that I have been there, we have made sure we have a meal in that restaurant - and I have a wonderful feeling of 'belonging' there.

Hello Berona, if someone wanted to come and do my housework, I would be delighted, but when my children come home, I still end up looking afterthem

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 11 Jan 2010 22:25

My lot definately don't do my housework - they leave me to do it all. Although my daughter makes sure the children clean up after themselves including putting used cups and plates in the sink I still seem to have to clean up after they've gone.

Good morning Berona,

I hope that all is well at the Dr's this morning.

The Insulation scheme initiated by the Government was a good idea gone terribly wrong!

The number of complaints about the fitting of the insulation has been growing daily.

Linda, when my daughter house sat for us last week she did tidy the house.....just!

Good Morning Berona,

Good Luck at the doctors - hope she can fix you up,so that you may be as good as new in no time.

You do have to watch these contractors - if they can take advantage, they will.

My mother has just had a quote for fixing some cracks in the ceilings. The fellow quoted her a ridiculous amount and then told her she'd have to get one of her sons to take down the two ceilings that need doing. She's getting another quote today and OH is going to be there. I don't want either my brother or OH taking down the ceilings as I feel it's too big a job. However I think that's up to them to decide. Neither sound too keen.

Berona - I'm glad you're going to the doctor today. Hope all goes well.

I think that sometimes if workmen don't really want to do a job Sue, they just give a ridiculous quote to put people off
My scan is all complete,so I am off now. Goodnight everyone

Linda, we recently had our gutters and downpipes replaced.

We asked two different firms for quotes: One firm came out , saw that we had a two storey house, muttered something about scaffolding and said that we would receive a quote...needless to say we didn't.

The other firm came out gave us a written quote and the job was completed within a week.

At a Trade exhibition we saw the original firm and told them that we were still waiting for the quote. After many apologies they offered to reprice the job. We told them not to bother as the work was already done
