Good Morning Linda,
Your non appearence last night was noted, but I assumed that you couldn't bear the climate any longer, so had jumped on a plane in desparation, to anywhere warm.

It was snowing like mad here when I went to bed, and still snowing when I got up this morning. The strong wind that accompanied the snow has caused huge drifts.

We lost TV because the dish was snowbound, then a power cut, probably dueto the weight of the snow on the cables.

I spent yesterday transferring my tree onto Ancestry. Haven't finished yet, still lots to do.

Now off to clean the oven - ugh.........

I just saw the news headlines Tec and wondered how you were getting on. It is back to 0 degrees here, so it won't thaw any more today. OH has been out and he said that the road is a sheet of ice, far worse than it ever has been. I noticed that the river was full to over flowing yesterday and there is still so much snow on the hills.

I forgot that you asked if we were near hills, we are at the top of the vale of York, it is about four miles until the sudden steep rise onto the North York Moors. Our closest access point is the infamous SuttonBank.

I used to hate cleaning the oven until a few years ago, I discovered the lakeland oven cleaner

http://www.lakeland.co.uk/F/keyword/oven%20cleaner

it is brilliant stuff, really thick, you paint it on with the brush supplied and then wipeit off with kitchen roll, then wash it down. It doesn't smell afterwards. If you have a lakeland shop near you, I can't recommend it enough

Goodevening/ morning all

Well Tec you allowed your snow to come over here and it has been snowing on and off all day. It has only been fine but there is now a thin layer on top of ice path's which mean's they are not as slippy but by the morning will probably be like ice sheet's again, hope I stay on my feet in the morning on my way to work.

Tomorrow myself and my employer's mum have to take him to the dental hospital for a check up and I am not looking forward to the trip into town at all.

Well as I said on my late post yesterday ( early hour's this morning ) I now have the noise monitor installed but up to now him upstair's has been quite but if he run's true to form he will have all his mate's around at the weekend and I hope to get it all on tape.

Isn't it typical Diane, now you have the meter, he is quiet.
The black ice has been dreadful here today, it is just so dangerous out there, even the gritters have been sliding off the roads

Diane

Diane Report 13 Jan 2010 19:13

Hi Linda, I'm hopeing he will do the usual at the weekend with all his mate's just so I have it as evidence for the houseing.
Our gritter's were out yesterday so at least all the side road's have had some grit on though they were still slippy this morning, so when I went to work I walked on the main road not the pathway. I'm expecting it to be slippy again on the path's tomorrow as it has gone cold again. I wish it would just all go away, because of health and safety reason's the ambulance that pick's my client up for the day centre won't do so as they say it is to dangerous to take him up and down his mother's path in a wheelchair, I wouldn't mind it only slope's slightly and I have cleared it and salted it but they haven't picked him up since the 5th, and probably wont until the snow has all gone. That's fine for them but hard work for his mum keeping him from getting bored with haveing to be stuck in every day. It wouldn't be so bad if she or myself had a car but we don't and there is no-one else who can take us out.
How are you and your's, are you manageing to stay warm.

I have had the heating on all day so the house is warm. I like it once it gets dark and I can go round and close all the curtains andget it all cosy and really warm. In fact the lounge gets too warm and I end up taking my big jumper off. If I turn the heating down, the rest of the house would cool down

Good job we like talking to each other Diane.

It is her "How funny is this thread" on the second page. She went on there ages before she came on here.!

Berona Report 13 Jan 2010 20:52

Never mind, ladies. I'll still talk to you. Good evening to you. I hope this finds you warm and cozy!
It's quite humid here. Looks like we might have had some rain during the night, because the paving was wet when I open the blinds - but has dried already. Expected highest temperature to be in the high twenties. That's OK. I can live with that.

Are you checking up on me Linda? I always look at the other threads on here before I start on this one. Tsk tsk - looks like I'll have to change my name when I'm posting on other threads.
