Allan,

Our property tax is banded from A to E . The higher the banding, the more you pay. Consequently you can get an elderly couple living in a house they bought relatively cheaply 40 years ago, but now valued at the higher rate.
As you say, their wealth is in their property, they may have nothing in the bank - but still have to find their property tax.
Some would say "Why don't they move" to a more modest property, but why should they?

This is one for the ladies:

Teacher wrote on the board: 'A woman without her man is nothing' and asked the students to punctuate.

The boys wrote: "A woman, without her man, is nothing".

The girls wrote" A woman: without her, man is nothing".

Please don't forget to come back Berona, we need you here - anyway Allan and I will come looking for you - like Bounty Hunters.

Berona,

I recorded "Gnow or Never" so I will see it later, but yes the countryside is very flat, which is what really makes the Stirling and Porongorup mountain Ranges so spectacular. They just seem to rise out of nowhere and dominate the landscape.

They certainly cannot be compared to the size and majesty of the Ranges in the Eastern Staes or Tasmania, but they are a nice contrast

That's nice of you Tec. It made me realise that we seem to be short on numbers at the moment. Where are Diane and Pat? It was nice to see Barbra drop in there - a bit late, but 'Hi Barbra'.. Oh well, Sue isn't away for very long, and Linda should be home soon.

Glad to see you boys are behaving yourselves and not joining other threads which are getting whooshed. Sorry I missed them again, but I suppose I didn't miss much. It's usually the same old subject and involves the same people - as they say themselves "same old, same old". Not very interesting after the first dozen times.

Berona, Tec,

I gathered that the usual build-up to the weekend had occurred on Chat but like you I do not become involved.

I post regularly on this Thread as well as the previous Pantomime Thread which has now become the GR Easter Egg Hunt, as well as a few games threads, but at least every one is civil to each other and you can have a laugh without someone taking offence. Or if something may be misinterpreted usually a couple of PM's settle the issue, apologies given and accepted in private and away we go again!

I have been with Genes for about 3/4 years researching my tree. Never bothered with the boards - as I felt you needed to be "known"
I do post occassionally I post on a thread to do with birds.
Then last July I noticed Sue's Aussie thread, and got up courage to post, because of old ties, and a place and people I came to love.

I'm so glad I did.

We are glad you did, too, Tec.

It's difficult to believe that this Thread only started last July.

At first i wasn't going to post, but I'm pleased that I changed my mind!

The thing is Allan, I watched this thread before posting for the first time, and noticed that you were at that time the only male among all these fantastic females.
I don't know if it was jealousy of your position, or a sense of Brotherhood, and knew there would come a time when they would inevitably take advantage of you, and I thought it a matter of chivalry to be your right hand man at such times.

I've travelled the globe - but regretably, have never been to Ireland,
so no, never kissed the Blarney Stone. LOL

Well, Tec, you definitely have a way with words!

Possibly from that Celtic Initiation Ceromony :0))

I'm glad you decided to join us too, Allan. Where would we be without your wit and reports on your conversations with the wheelie bins? To be honest, I would say your conversations with the bins sound more interesting than those on other threads who call others WUM's, whilst they, themselves, are bigger WUM's than the ones they wait to pounce on!

Well one of my esteemed ancestors was a Druid, and enthoned on the Bardic Chair for his contribution to Welsh Poetry, so maybe any way with words is in the genes.

Nothing to do with my illuminated dongle. :))

LOL, Tec

Berona, I totally agree.

I also love what I call "Mushroom Threads": the original controversial Thread gets whooshed and then another 16 spring up complaining about the original, thereby continuing the whole sordid affair!

Well, I'm off. My grocery order arrived and I've put it all away - so now for my drive!!!
Sleep well and warm Tec, Allan, you have a good day.

Berona,
I think Wheelie Bins worldwide should proclaim Allan as their global leader. I once considered wheelie bins as just green plastic receptacles for storing my rubbish.
Since making Allan's aquaintence I now consider them in a completely different light. I see them as things of beauty, able to have meaningful conversations on a variety of subjects - I now try to engage them in conversation, and I'm sure that when they come to recognise me as someone who understands, they will talk back to me.

Also I now know that bin-men are Garbologists
