Hello all,

Just managed to jump on again!

On my "walks and talks" I often see heaps of junk mail just disposed of in the community litter bins. I just hope that who ever dumps it is not claiming a fee for delivery.

Well, no more rain today, just as sticky as adate pudding!

Understanding Engineers - Take Four

What is the difference between mechanical engineers and civil engineers?
Mechanical engineers build weapons and civil engineers build targets.

Understanding Engineers - Take Five

The graduate with a science degree asks, "Why does it work?"
The graduate with an engineering degree asks, "How does it work?"
The graduate with an accounting degree asks, "How much will it cost?"
The graduate with an arts degree asks, "Do you want fries with that?"

Understanding Engineers - Take Six

Three engineering students were gathered together discussing the possible designers of the human body.

One said, "It was a mechanical engineer. Just look at all the joints."
Another said, "No, it was an electrical engineer. The nervous system has many thousands of electrical connections."
The last one said, "No, actually it had to have been a civil engineer. Who else would run a toxic waste pipeline through a recreational area ?"

Understanding Engineers - Take Seven

Normal people believe that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Engineers believe that if it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.

And I didn't even know that an Engine had ears!

You are right Allan - I have just consulted my "Thomas' really useful word book"
That is very disappointing.

I can relate to all of your engineers' jokes Perse. My OH and all three sons trained in the engineering line. I wish we had encouraged them to be a doctor, lawyer and accountant. That would suit me nicely.

Allan - you knew what you were doing naming your thread "For Men Only" - the men can't resist looking in and showing the flag. I wonder what they expect to find?

And they say women are nosey!!!

Allan

Allan Report 7 Feb 2010 09:58

Ah Berona,

Women are nosey

Men are inquisitive!! :0))

Berona

Berona Report 7 Feb 2010 10:04

There's a difference?

Persephone

Persephone Report 7 Feb 2010 10:11

Spelling and it is a longer word ?

You shouldn't use long words when short ones will do Allan>

Just checked my dictionary.

nosy/nosey = inquisitive, prying

inquisitive = prying. (not nosey?)

Dictionaries - can be a load of old cobblers sometimes.

I was always ashamed to take my engineer OH shopping - specially in toy shops.
He would pick up a toy and take it to piecesto see how it was made, then when he couldn't put it back together again, he would put it down and walk away saying "don't buy that - it's rubbish". I usually walked in the opposite direction in case anyone thought we might be together!

Hi Carole. Warm and humid here. I've just put the aircon on to cool my bedroom down before I go to bed. Getting very steamy here with yet again, more storms and high temps forecast. I suppose if they keep forecasting storms, they must eventually strike it lucky!

I must check up on my grandchildren - the eldest is off to a different high school this year - I think she has quite a few friends there - and she makes them fairly easily. Her school decided last year to not go any further than the first year of High. She is happy as long as she can take Dance - and the school she is going to is known for putting on good performances in the acting area.
School is so different from when I went - it would have been unheard of to take dance as a subject. Reminds me of that television series called "Fame"
