Hi Persey:-))

I couldn't help myself, I had to go on the "men only" thread:-)))
Yes..I do keep my joke emails, mainly the ones I like!
Its actually a good idea that the blokes have somewhere where they can chat to one and other and talk blokey stuff:-)) Tony's a funny guy, he had me in fits of laughter:-))

It was a bit daunting on the chat board this morning, the usual Friday nights going's on!!!

How has your day been?
Ive had a fairly lazy sort of day, been working on my tree a bit and talking on facebook to family.

I was on here this morning but I avoid the carryings on.

Before that I was cleaning up and then later filling one of those receptacles that Allan chats to.

Been doing the dreaded HW and I like reading the Saturday Paper - lots more in it - so that was on the agenda.

Amazingly we did not go out. It is Waitangi Day here today so there has been the yearly celebration of that on various Maraes including Waitangi itself.

Actually I have to wonder where the day has gone.

Persey and now my text box is jumping up and down as I type keeps disappearing I can't see what I am doing as it keeps going to the top and down again how weird.

Persey..

I suppose they will cook the traditional Hangi, my hubby plays Softball with a lot of Kiwi boys - they cooked one last year for the end of season presentation night. OH hasn't played this year due to a problem with his knees, he's still waiting to see a specialist which wont be until April. My oldest son is playing today, hubby has gone down to watch, I had to make sure he hadn't taken his kit/gear otherwise he may have been sorely tempted to play, the hearts in it but the body's not:-((
The Kiwi guys a nice bunch, I get on very well with the wives:-))

Allan has the men coming out of the woodwork! Where do they normally hide?

I only found his thread after I finished reading a thread which seems to be a follow-up of one which was probably whooshed. How keen (or addicted) do you have to be to be posting up until 4:30am??? Surely they are not all night-shifters? If so, I don't think much work was done last night.

Persephone Report 6 Feb 2010 08:25

Do they do Maori bread as well Carole... I love hangi food - Venison and trout is great done that way?

When they did that iron age program in Britain - and the people had problems with cooking etc - I thought to myself what they need is a bunch of kiwis to show them how it is done.

There are quite a lot of blokes on the site Berona - often find them on the tips board - etc

Just goes to show that a lot more people read the posts than we realise, doesn't it?

We had better get the sisterhood organised!! Can't let the men out-do us!

Diane, Pat, Barbara, Janet, Alison - Heelllpppp! Sue and Linda - hurry back!

p.s. ALL food is great done that way!!

Persey... they would probably do Maori bread as well, I like the sound of trout cooked that way...mmmm yummy!!!!

Allan will be thrilled with his new thread:-))

It would have been all right with me if what these women said to each other was interesting, but they kept repeating themselves over and over, just being nasty to each other. How can they stay up so late just to say that? Must have been the vino doing the talking!

Berona

Berona Report 6 Feb 2010 09:47

Allan must be thrilled with himself over his other thread. We should have known that he would go off and do something like that just when our numbers are down!

He will come on here smiling away very pleased with himself.

Persey who is heading for her bed. Night Carole and Berona and I wonder where Diane is - maybe her neighbours are quiet and she is catching up on sleep.

Understanding Engineers - Take Three

A priest, a doctor, and an engineer were waiting one morning for a particularly slow group of golfers.

The engineer fumed, "What's with those blokes? We must have been waiting
for fifteen minutes!"

The doctor chimed in, "I don't know, but I've never seen such inept golf!"

The priest said, "Here comes the greens keeper. Let's have a word with him."

He said, "Hello, George! what's wrong with that group ahead of us? They're rather slow, aren't they?"

The greens keeper replied, "Oh, yes. That's a group of blind fire fighters. They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we always let them play for free anytime."

The group fell silent for a moment.

The priest said, "That's so sad. I think I will say a special prayer for them tonight."

The doctor said, "Good idea. I'm going to contact my ophthalmologist colleague and see if there's anything he can do for them."

The engineer said, "Why can't they play at night?"

Good Morning/Evening everyone,

Berona,
No matter how many times you explain the Aussie time zones, I still can't get my head around it. I was getting there just as it all changed, so gave up. I have grasped the idea that Perse is 13 hours ahead of UK time, because of that very confusing International Dateline.

Hi C.C.,

Interesting that you mention the River Lea. I spent many happy hours wading in the Lea as a boy, emerging covered in mud, and leeches. Although I was born in Glamorgan, Sth Wales, my mothers family were Welsh, I was brought up in Barking Essex, until age 15, when we moved out to Billericay. Then spent two years commuting by steam train (Harry Potter style) back to the grammar school in Barking.
I used to know parts of the Lea Valley area, travelling through Edmonton, Enfield, and I remember a huge reservoir there.
Now I live in a small coastal village in darkest Wales. I enjoy the peace and tranquility of the area, and it seems years since I spent any time in London. Utopia to me would be to have a small flat in Soho near to theatreland, so that we could see all the shows, then be able to run back to beyond the fringe when we'd had enough.
Meanwhile, I have the sheep for entertainment.

Hi C.C.
Didn't see you there 'till I posted.
It's been a beautiful day here, clear blue sky, sunshine, a bit on the nippy side. Spent the day clearing some of the winter wreckage in the garden, and watching Wales get slaughtered by England in the Rugby - oh well!

C.C.,

I've been on or near water all my laugh - also born an Aquarian - I loved the Thames, and the Lea. Then spent 16 years in the Merchant Navy, now I live about 500 yds from the beach and the Irish Sea - destined to be near water.
But I hate the rain, which is unfortunate living in Wales.

Good evening Brits. Hope you have all had a good day. It doesn't seem like we have any Australasians on deck yet. If we have - good morning! Allan could be out on his 3am walk, talking to wheelie bins.

Sunday morning 8am here. Wet outside again. A good downpour would be better than this constant drizzle. However, it has rained heavier in other places and that has brought out the emergency services! A lot of the problem is the fact that when it is dry for so long, many people forget to do maintenance on their pipes, gutters, etc. and they fill up with dry leaves and other rubbish - then when it rains, the drains become blocked and flood easily.

Tecwyn Report 6 Feb 2010 21:04

"All my laugh"" What does that mean?

should be life - oh dear, cracking up.

G'Day Berona,

You're an early bird - at least you may not have to water the pots today. I have snowdrops coming up in big pots here.

Talking of weather - I was listening to the World Service on the BBC, apparently Mexico is in dire trouble because of torrential rainfall, the most in 25 years. I was thinking of Linda, I hope her holiday hasn't been a washout.
They are due back this weekend.

To clear up any time confusion it is now 5.25 am in West Oz.

I haven't yet ben on to the Men Only thread: I will check soon.

Berona I only started the above thread because of CC so if anything goes pear-shaped I'm going to blame her :0))

CC I am Pisces on the crust, but I supppose that comment is a bit stale!

Good Morning Allan,

How are you this Sunday morning - thank you for telling us what time it is there. It's 9-30 pm here, but I expect you know that, having a brain.

You dids very well luring all those blokes out of hiding.
I think they normally keep their heads below the parapet because of the squabbles on the threads - don't blame them.
