Oh you are all such lovely people on here.

I remember when I first ventured into the area of the boards - I answered someone's question about convict ancestry in Australia and she thanked me. I thort I can handle this - found this site - and I remember it well I read where Allan had said something along on the lines of the hearse travelling first one way in the cemetary and then the other way and that he thought they had lost the plot. - and I replied with - that's a very grave situation. So it is all your fault Allan that you all have to put up with my long dialogues etc and I don't mind if you think my pic of a cat looks like a martian.

Hello everyone:-))

How are you today, Persey?

I had to have a look back on the first time I posted on this our lovely thread. The first person to speak to me was Berona and then Sue:-)) It feels ages ago, cant believe it only started in July, last year.

Berona..did you get any rain? we had a wet day yesterday, it rained a bit through the night and into the early part of this morning, its cleared now and is a lot cooler.

I hope everyone is well:-))

Berona Report 5 Feb 2010 07:06

Rain? Well, yes and no. I heard "Severe Warnings" about thunderstorms on the radio, so I switched off my computer and TV and waited. Eventually, it became very dull, then two very loud clashes of thunder and one bolt of lightning and down came the rain - a heavy shower - which lasted for about five minutes - then the sun came out and has been out ever since!

I'd had my drive! First one since Christmas. I felt like I'd been released from gaol!...I still have to water the pots under the eaves!

Hi Carole

Berona is probably still out driving - forgotten where she lives. LOL

Did you have a look at that Ukranian girl that I mentioned the other day who won their "Got Talent" - google Kseniya Simonova and then watch her on Youtube - takes abt 8 mins.

Been sticky here again today - looked like rain - but don't think it happened unless when I was in the mall having coffee.
I have been brushing hair off my top all afternoon - think it is clear and then more appear. Always in need of a shower after I have a haircut.

Hi Persey

I must have missed, or forgotten you mentioning her on an earlier post, sorry.
I just went and had a look, she's brilliant - Ive never seen anything quite like it:-)) It reminded me of those sand thingy's, you know - you turn them and the sand trickles down, what are they called??

Persey..I'm like that after a visit to the hairdressers, I always scratch like Ive got fleas and have to strip off and jump into the shower, seems a shame after all the work they put into styling and blow drying!!!!

Berona Report 5 Feb 2010 09:44

Snowstorms, Carole? That's what I know them as.
I had my hair cut on Wednesday and it looked so nice after being blow-dried but as soon as I got home, I washed it again to get the little hairs out and stop me from scratching.

Perse - I had a look at that Ukrainian girl. She's brilliant!

I hate it when bits of hair get in your mouth and it is not very lady like to go pfff pfff.

My hairdresser has also seen It's Complicated and Up in the Air Carole, so we had a good chat about them. I always check out movies with her as she seems to get to quite a lot. Her salon is called Asylum.

Berona.. Snowstorms???? have you got snow up there?

Persey, I like the name of your of your hairdressers, did she like the movies?

I'm having a quiet night in tonight, hubby's watching the cricket - I think its the 20/20.
Its the anniversary of the Black Saturday bush fires this weekend, there is a lot going on in the towns that were affected and lots on TV and the radio stations. I had a bit of a cry in the car this morning listening to an interview of a guy that lost his wife and children, its all still very raw for a lot of people.

Carole - I think Berona meant that the sand in the glass was called snow storms - but they are different - I remember having one of those glass things of Sydney Harbour Bridge when I was little and it had a snowstorm when you shook it... silly when you think about it.

Yes - Melissa liked both movies - we were laughing about them. She called her salon Asylum - as that was a play on Melissa spelt backwards albeit differently (Mulysa)

Personally my favourite word spelt backwards is stressed.

I know what you mean about the fires - Carole - I get very upset about them - I sat in our lounge with tears literally streaming down my face when I saw all those poor people and what happened then. And then I watched the SPCA program on the little animals that they tried to save - one dear little cat was amazing - he was a very strong marmalade moggy and even his owners were surprised that he had survived.
Awhile back I watched a program on Maryville and people who no longer wanted to go on living because of all the losses that they had sustained etc.

Perse.."Slaps hand on forehead" I know what your talking about now:-)
Snow in Sydney...never no??

No, the ones I was talking about are different. They are on a stand, with two pieces of glass and in between the glass is sand and some sort of liquid. You flip it over and the sand and liquid flows down.

Persey..

Marysville was so beautiful before the fires, I once took my mother there for a holiday just after my father passed away. Its all gone now, the place we stayed in - so sad.

Yes I have been there Carole - mind you the power was off everywhere - we stayed at Taggarty and the power went off around 8am luckily we were all breakfasted and showered - we keep ourselves on NZ time when we are over there. That same day there was another power fail - took out the best part of the Melbourne suburbs.

I know the sand art that you are talking about - reminds me of ant farms.
Snowing where Berona is - as if !!!!!!

Understanding Engineers - Take Two

To the optimist, the glass is half full.
To the pessimist, the glass is half empty.
To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Persey..I know Taggerty, my sister has a caravan on site at Snobs Creek, near Eildon - there are some good trout farms in that area. There is also a great trail horse riding place at Thornton, I was there the Christmas before last.

Hi Candie Caine,

Welcome to the thread.

I don't think we've "spoken" before, because you won't have seen me around the boards generally.

I'm known as "Tec", although a Pom, living in N.Wales, I've been accepted on Sue's thread as an Honorary Aussie. I am now ancient, but not yet ready to be put out to pasture - there's still a bit of tread left on the tyres yet.

Like you, I've no time for the back biting and nastiness we see on some threads. Why people must have a go at each other publically, or send spiteful pm's to people they hardly know is beyond me. Such people are best ignored I think.

We are all slightly crazy on this thread. I'm sure the others will not disagree with me on that. Sometimes it's manic, even hysterical. Although we also have serious discussions about topics that concern us all, or are of interest to us all. The main things is that we all get on amicably, respect each others views, and generally have a laugh. As you say, there is an imbalance in the sexes, but Allan and I are more than up to the challenges that the Sisterhood throw us from time to time.

Should misfortune, illness, whatever, effect any of us, the support and genuine concern shown by everyone is deeply touching.

I hope you will get as much enjoyment and fun from Sue's Aussie thread as I have done.
Look forward to seeing you post regularly.

Tec

Good evening Brits and good morning Australasians.
Welcome CC. What area are you talking to us from?

Tec - You are forbidden to say you are old!!! (Remember, I'm older!).

Are we short on numbers again to-day? Maybe Diane is having trouble with her internet - or her son has taken the laptop away from her! Be firm, Diane - tell him to wait!!!

Snow in Sydney? Never. I'm half-way to the Blue Mountains and when it sometimes snows up there - we can feel the cold air here. Last winter, for the first time, some people said it snowed in Sydney. I don't think it did, but it did come the closest to it that it ever has come. I still think that in another hundred years, England will celebrate Christmas on the beach while Australians will be freezing!

Allan not yet back from his walk?
