Allan, I know this is a daft question that probably deserves a daft answer, but why worms?
Are you going fishing?

Berona sounds like you have it all under control. Very rare for UK houses to have air/con, when it's very hot (for us) I put a fan on. Don't seem able to take the heat like I used to.

Berona, no knitting just nit-picking

I do apologise for intruding onto other Threads and causing my usual brand of chaos.

It's always nice to find new victims, although, of course I have spoken with Uzzi before, but not with Alice

Good Evening Pat,
Did you have rough weather down there in Devon? and what kind of books do you read?

Tec,
We've got air con in the officie where I work. One girl in particular always used to have it on. The rest of us were getting cold so we hid the remote control and I even bought another cardigan because I was getting cold.
The giel's left anyway now.

Tec,
I like murder mystery and family saga stories.

Good evening Pat,

Barbra, it could well be depression. As Berona has quite rightly said he should perhaps go for a check up with his GP.

I now go twice a year and although it is to have my diabetes monitored I have overcome the typical male response to illness. It's only taken me a lifetime!!

Hi Allan,
Sorry to hear about your diabetes but at least you get checked out twice a year and the Doctor is on your case.

Allan - don't be shy. I read most of the threads (that's why I'm often late coming on here) and I don't know most of the people - but if I read a thread which reminds me of something, I do a post and leave it. Sometimes, I forget to go back to see if it has any answer or impact, but I mostly post and run. I don't bother with the ones which are merely a conversation between two or three people and about nothing - but some threads can be very intresting.

Hi Barbra,
I'm ok. I hope your OH is o.k soon.

Berona

Hello Pat. Your reading tastes are similar to mine. I like murder mysteries, suspense, family sagas, true crime. My daughter always buys me books which are true stories of child abuse, and although I remain glued to the book until finished, they depress me to think that people can be like some of the ones I have read about. I prefer fiction, but only if it is 'possible'. Don't like to read about things that couldn't happen - like ghosts, occult, phantoms etc.

Allan

Allan Report 14 Nov 2009 22:27

Pat, I was diagnosed ten years ago now.

prior to that I had at ypical male attitude to ill health and refused to acknowlede it.

My attitude was "it costs money to visit the Dr's. Wait until I'm dead and they can find out at the post mortem what was wrong with me and it wont cost me a cent"

That came within a few sweconds of being so true...I had a pulmonary embolism!

Berona, me? shy? thank you!

Pat, My OH reads a lot, she belongs to two book clubs, and sometimes visits the Red Cross charity shop to buy second hand books. I'm forever taking boxes of books back there. She reads murder mysteries, spy thrillers etc.
I read too, but only non fiction - biographies, and I enjoy Bill Bryson books.

Barbra, Maybe you could find something to do together outside - like what I can't imagine because not knowing what interests you both.
Fishing - National Trust Houses - Spying on the neighbours, anything to give you a mutual interest out of the house - seriously.

It was very wet and windy this morning. I did shopping etc.etc. The wind has claimed down. I don't think it's raining now.

Much calmer here now - stopped raining, and the wind has dropped.

I very rarely wander onto other threads - even interesting ones, mostly because I'm not known much on the boards, and feel like an intruder, most people seem to "know" one another,

Truth is I'm such a bashful soul, as you know.

Barbra another fine, warm day forecast for here. OH could always do some voluntary work. It would keep him active and out and about a bit.

Tec, I'm currently on a couple of Threads at the moment but will only post If I can be my usual humorous(?) self

Tec,
That's exactly what I thought and half the time I don't know what people are talking about!
I like the Uninteresting thread but I was a stranger once on this thread!

Good night Barbra.

I hope that youOH is soon back to his old self

Tecwyn Report 14 Nov 2009 23:12

Pat,
Some threads are interesting, and although I frequently do have an opinion about whatever is being discussed, I am reluctant to join in. To me it's a bit like walking into a room full of strangers, I've never felt comfortable in that situation.
I prefer to talk to people I feel comfortable with, and are not likely to get arguementative? well, not in a nasty way, because I come on here to relax, not to argue with people I don't know.
I think this is the friendliest threat on the boards, with people I know I would get on with in "real" life.
That's just my take on things for what it's worth.

Night Barbra,
I've learnt a lot about my ancestors through sharing trees etc.
I'm going to bed now or else I'll turn into a pumpkin!
Night Tec,

Goodnight Barba, sleep well, keep warm - you are cheeky!

Goodnight Pat, sleep well, keep warm, don't stay awake all night reading,

Barbra, I assume Linda' must be spending time with her sister,
