there are a couple of places to order paper booklets, or cd's from. One is the Parish Chest website

they deal with several different suppliers and are easy to order from. they have a link to the Huddersfield and district family history society (HDFHS)who produce the relevant records.

I have ordered quite a few transcriptions from the Parish chest website before. Oddly they don't have every single leaflet from the HDFHS, when I went direct to their website, I discovered an even bigger range.You can order direct from the HDFHS, but I wasn't keen on that because it meant paying by cheque and I am too impatient. You can order by email, but it asks you to put all your credit card details in an email and I wasn't about to do that. I then noticed that you could pay them using the Paypal system. I have a paypal account which I use on ebay etc, so I used that.
I couldn't see a link to paypal on the HDFHS site, but when you go to the paypal website and log in, there is an option to make a payment. You just put the email address of the person you want to pay in the space provided and add the amount. There is a space to add a message, in this case what you want to order, it then sends the money safely to them.

I sent a follow up email direct to the HDFHS just to make sure. The system worked brilliantly.

If you can scan the certificates in which you are having trouble reading, I would be most willing to have a go at them, if you email them to me

I have also set up a paypal account, Sue gave me the advice when I asked her what was the safest payment method, as I didn't like using a credit card on the computer, Ive now used it quite a few times, and its brilliant.

I always use paypal, but usually there is an option on the site where you are buying from to use it. I had never come across this other method where you go to your Paypal account and then send money to someone without having had a bill first, but it worked brilliantly.

Ive just tried to send the certificates, but I think the file is to big to send, so I may try to send them to you tomorrow. I may have to send them one at a time?

lol Carol, i am not amazing, but I must admit to having spent a huge amount on old certs and have spent many a long hour in the records office pouring over the parish records, so you get used to the writing

I thought that you would have me down as a cook Barbra, but a school ma'am with a whip sounds much more fun.

When I first started teaching we were allowed to use the cane, but then it was banned.

May I say........I also think Linda is amazing......

So how is the bread making going?

I made another loaf yesterday, using the recipe that came with the machine, using milk powder. It turned out fine, good texture, colour etc.
I used Marvel, but at £2-19p a small can it will be too expensive in the long run. I had to use 3 cups. So will use recipes that don't call for milk powder.
Very pleased so far, and won't be buying polystyrene shop bread again, but I do want to experiment with wholemeal soon.

Three cups? Are you sure it wasn't three tablespoons. I use tesco's skimmed dried milk powder which is much cheaper.

I have to have wholegrain, Tec - so keep practicing. I'm waiting for my toast!

You are up amazingly early Berona, I do a good wholemeal, but prefer the granary one as I like the bits and having my own teeth, they are not a problem lol
