if Allan is in the jungle, he will be able to cope with eating those witchety grubs as they are a staple of the Australian diet I assume

Hi Barbra - Nobody seems interested as yet in getting the swine flu jab - but our summer is coming on. It's hard for us to think of flu at this time of the year. I'll see what my doc advises when I go to get my normal flu jab around Easter time.

I won't be long. Even though I've had breakfat, all this talk of bread makes me want toast, so I'm off to make it.

Berona

Berona Report 16 Nov 2009 20:25

No Linda, not really. Well, not for most of us anyway. However, we ARE talking about Allan here, aren't we?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 16 Nov 2009 20:28

I think they only give the jab to people who are over 65, pregnant or have underlying medical conditions, or those who work with people with medical conditions. So I don't qualify on any of those grounds,so won't be having it.

They appear regularly on "I am a celebrity get me out of here". They are big fat grubs and they make the z list celebrities suck the insides out of them as part of the trials. Not that I watch it of course, but I have seen the odd bits.

Berona

Berona Report 16 Nov 2009 20:34

Barbra - they ARE revolting. They are like caterpillars and the Australian aborigines are supposed to eat them raw. I don't know how true this is - especially of the aborigine of to-day.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 16 Nov 2009 20:40

lol Barbra,I thought that you were pregnant there until I checked my list again

Berona

Berona Report 16 Nov 2009 20:42

You can talk all you like now about bread. I've had two pieces of toast and another coffee - and feel satisfied. Problem is - that's two pieces of toast and a cup of coffee more than I should have had!

Does anyone get the feeling that we have been deserted here?

Don't tell me I have to go looking on other threads again?!!

Actually Berona, it is a bit early yet, you should have had more of a lie in

Tecwyn

No Berona, P&O......but all the same thing really, and yes, I do know what you're chuckling about..........

Please stop talking about disgusting things, I've just had dinner.

Linda, now you mention it, I'm not sure if it was 3 cups or 3 tablespoons, OH who was hovering says I used 3 tablespoons - will look in the tin later, can tell that way...... sad really!

So Barbra - you're a Home and Away fan, are you? I didn't watch it for years - the acting was bad and the script was poor - but I started watching it about 3 years ago and have to make sure I don't miss an episode because it moves on all the time, and the acting has improved a lot.

I don't know for sure why Jack and Roman were written out, but assume they have better acting prospects to explore. Myles is still very much in it, as is Angelo and they do keep introducing new young ones into it. I've noticed a few of them get jobs on children's programs as presenters, then a stint in Home and Away. While there, they get introduced into the public eye by being put into dancing and singing competitions, and that seems to launch them into what they are best at.

You got it right Tec! We learn a lot when we spend a whole month on a ship.

I am exploring all the parish records which arrived this morning, I am happy as a something in something, whatever the expression may be.

I am also feeling hungry,so am going to get some coffee and something to eat.

Barbra,
I obviously mis-understood your imaginations as to what we could all be.
Don't mind being a sailor,
much better than what I thought you meant LOL

Glad you used the word 'something' Linda. The real words would not be very becoming to a lady who came out of our Swiss finishing school!

Allan

Allan Report 16 Nov 2009 21:21

Good morning evening all

Too many posts to catch up on.

Funny thing about the flu jab, the local health people held mass clinics in the South West a few weeks ago.
70,000 units of vaccine were ordered and in total only 3000 people turned up to receive the jab.

The nurses were expecting 20,000 and thought that each person would need 3 units each. Talk about a waste of resources

And witchetty grubs taste like buttery chicken...it's amazing how many things taste like chicken including frogs legs, which I have sampled and enjoyed.

It's just a shame that chicken no longer tastes like chicken!

Tec - it wouldn't make my hair stand on end now - but back then, it was permanently like that!

Allan - good morning. I just knew you would be able to tell us what those things taste like.
