I always insist on watching the Queens Speech, though no longer stand to attention.

I have spent Christmas in Sydney, it did feel very odd to me because it was hot.......but I did have a great time...what I remember of it,

Linda, I am a service contract with British Gas, that includes all internal plumbing, but it was such a simple job, so I thought, that I didn't bother them........stupid man

Linda - If it comes on, we watch it. Don't know when it is broadcast, and it is repeated in later news broadcasts. However, I seem to have missed it for a few years now. Don't know why. It's not something that we have all gathered around to watch.

Is that how the Duchess described you Tec?

It is just a sort of tradition in the family Berona.

Anyway, sorry to have not been here long, but I am off to spend quality time with OH.

I have had a bit of a head banging day, I spent half the morning on the phone to call centres and the other half being out bidded on Ebay.

Goodnight everyone.

Hello everyone. Sorry I'm late - OH took his car in for a service and I had to follow him to bring him home.

It's cold and windy outside and looks like rain. I was hoping to wash the bedding today but I might leave it. Like Berona's area we got about 5 minutes rain. It was enough to water the veggie garden:-)

Linda I'm not really a republican or a monarchist. The Queen is the Queen and I have no problem with that. We had a referendum a few years back over whether Australia should become a republic. My thoughts were that a lot of responsibility comes with independence and I didn't think we were ready at that time. The debate came too quickly for me and I didn't think we were given enough information about the changes that would come about if we became a republic. I have to admit I do love all the pomp and ceremony that comes with royalty.

We are now harvesting our tomatoes so I'm happy. We'll have our own tomatoes for Christmas Day. We usually have a cold sit down lunch with ham, turkey and seafood which I've just ordered from our fish market. We have salad and my mum makes a wonderful trifle. In the afternoon it's open house at our place and family drop in whenever they make it. We have a bbq around 5 - 6 in the evening and whoever is there gets fed. By the night we are all happy and as full as a butcher's dog. Boxing day is for relaxing and I now visit my dad in the memorial gardens. Although mum only lives 10 minutes away she stays with us from Christmas eve to Boxing day. I don't like her alone in the house over Christmas.

Good morning Sue

Tec you mentioned that the Duchess had another hypo and that reminded me of something that happened yesterday.

I had to phone the Doctor to make an appointment for my Diabetic Care Plan review. This is done twice a year with the second one being carried out after full blood testing, visit to the podiatrist and the eye surgeon.

I phoned the Surgery at about 9.15 am and managed to get an appointment for lunch time today.

I went to write it on the Calender...and there I saw to my horror that OH and myself had an appointment at the opticians one at 9.00 am the other at 9.30. OH went dashing out to keep the 9.30 one whilst I phoned the opticians to make my apologies.

Three hours later O got a phone call from the Doctor's surgery to remind me about today's appointment.

I would add that the Doctor and Optician are totally separated!

Allan, That all sounds very hectic, but it's nice to be wanted,
you have to fight to get an appointment with anyone here.

Yes Sue, I saw that!

It's no wonder that Persey has not returned to the thread.

Mind you, after some of the things she was posting she may have been banned :0))

Is it my imagination or is activity on the various threads slow today.

Not as in computer speed but in very few posts?

It's not your imagination Allan, I think lots of Brits have taken refuge in their beds to keep warm - there's nothing very interesting on the box, so it can't be that.
Can't speak for the Aussies, maybe they're all in the pub because it's so hot.

We haven't heard from Carole for days?

Tec,

I don't know about the pub but Christmas is closer by the day. Probably all the Ozzies are in the air conditioned shops: sensible people.

Allan do you have good shopping facilities near you, or do you have to travel to do serious shopping?

Just wondered
