At first I thought that they were just photos which OH had decided to put up!

It's frightening is'nt it?

I catch sight of myself in the mirror (accidently of course)
and think "Oh my God - how did that happen?)

rather depressing really.

If hot, continue trying to archive my slides

Nothing much. Might go for a drive and will no doubt call in to my favourite fruit market! Haven't been there since the legs gave out in December. I only need a couple of things, but I suppose I will come out with a trolley-full!

Otherwise - I have the choice of more transcribing and/or more clearing out! How interesting!

Might get back onto the family tree. I have just found another convict in the ancestry. A gr/gr/great grandmother was sent out from England with two of her seven children. Her crime was 'receiving laundry' for which she was transported for ten years. No parole in those days! Apparently, the children remained the responsibility of the justice system until they found someone to marry them - then they too, were released. Not sure what 'receiving laundry' was - perhaps what we call 'snow-dropping' - stealing clothes from clothes-lines!

The garden must be coming on nicely now, have you much to do out there?

The cursor on this screen is doing freeky things?

Hello - I disappeared for awhile there cos OH had the nerve to ask - very politely - if he could use the computer.

Talking of mirrors and photos - I've just renewed my passport and the photo showed a lady rather older looking than 10 years ago. How did that happen? Ok I know ten years is a long time but I thought I looked the same. I also look grumpy - you can't smile for a passport photo:-(

hope you do manage to get out for a drive Berona, do you good.

That poor lady transported for ten years - that never makes any sense to me - how did they ever get back after the ten years?

How inconsiderate of your OH to want to use the computer.

The photo of me on my driving license looks like a convicted criminal,
I wouldn't want to meet him on a dark night LOL

Perhaps she received the laundrey as a washer woman and then sold it, Berona. Of course most convicts didn't go back. I'm amazed that although bigamy was a crime the Australian government and clergy condoned the freed convicts marrying rather than have them "live in sin".

That was the idea Tec. They didn't get back. It was the Crown's way of colonizing this country. The people just had to stay here and make the best of it. It's also the reason why they were being sent out for such paltry offences too - any excuse to send more out here.

Sue - don't worry about it. Passport photos never flatter for some reason. I was told for my last photo, I could smile 'slightly' - but it still didn't make much improvement. Just keep the passport in a safe place - where no-one can see it!

Hello, Diane - did you catch up on our news about Alison. Can't remember if you came on when Ali's cousin Libby posted.

I've never heard the term "snow dropping" before re stealing clothes off washing lines, but it did remind me of something funny I saw some years ago.
There was a spate of ladies underwear going missing off washing lines when left out in summer months where we used to live.
Getting up at 5 am one summers morning, I looked out of the bedroom window, which overlooked the back gardens of other houses, to see the culprit in action. To my amazement it was none other than the local Councillor............

Good night Brits. Have a good day Aussies.
