I did a double take there Berona when you mentioned the long pants. I suppose that you mean trousers. Here pants are another name for knickers,so I imagined you in those old fashioned bloomers.

We haven't had any more snow overnight, but there is still a good covering on the garden,so it must be cold out there.

I got an appointment to get my filling redone, this afternoon. I am in the tourist office,so will have to pop out for a while. I hope that I don't have to have too large an injection, or that will make talking a little awkward afterwards.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Feb 2010 17:12

I was very brave and had my filling put back without an injection!

well to be truthful, he didn't offer me one and it wasn't too bad. It aches a little bit now, but at least it is mended. I was only eating a sultana bagel,so I don't know why the thing should have fallen out.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 22 Feb 2010 17:56

Yes Linda you were terribly brave. Whenever I am forced to go to the dentist, I insist on a general anaesthetic, an epidural, gas & air, and a lethal injection - provided he has the antidote.

And that's just to get me through the door....

I should beware of sultana bagels in future - I once broke a front tooth eating a a piece of bagette......teeth are a menace.

I refuse on principal to be drawn into commenting on Berona's bloomers.
Discretion being the better part of valour.

Oh Tec, I am disappointed in you, I had you down as a real macho man, not one who is scared of adentist

Good morning/evening everyone. Hope you are all well.

CC - I love reading your posts. Very interesting and I have a good laugh:-))

The meeting went very smoothly with the accountant and thankfully he has now taken over. A full review audit, followed by recommendations on improvements depending of course on what he finds. We were reassured that we have done the right thing.

After a stinking hot and sticky day yesteday I'm hoping for cooler weather today. It's very difficult to find the energy to do anything inside or outside in this weather. Yes, yes....I know you are all freezing but I'm sure you wouldn't like to be in 32+ temperatures with high humidity unless you were on a beach sipping pina coladas:-))

You know I prefer Miami Vice sue

I am glad that you have handed it all over to the accountant, you can stop worrying now

Oh hek, I still have 4801 characters left, I just can't keep up with CC lol

Sorry to disappoint you Linda, but when it comes to dentists, I'm a a wimp.

Having had two unfortunate experiences with them, I have no confidence in them, although I do bravely attend my annual check up and any necessary treatment, I would prefer not to.
I have no problem with doctors or hospitals, but then I've never had a doctors hand in my mouth.

Hope you managed to eat dinner this evening!

Hello Linda and Tec.

Tec - I don't like dentists either but they're a necessary evil.

Linda - would you like to do a house swap? Although OH wouldn't be keen. He watches the UK weather reports and says that's why he won't go over to the UK in winter.

Hmm, but that would give us your hot humid summer. Would I have to clean before you come?

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 22 Feb 2010 20:41

Of course you'd have to clean up, Linda. I'm not going into your house and pick up socks, clear up books and newspapers and wash up all those coffee mugs. I get enough of that here:-))

Good job, I am a really tidy person then. there are no piles of books, the papers are put straight into the recycling and the dishwasher takes care of all the coffee mugs

Good Morning Sue,

Glad that your meeting with accountant went well. Maybe now you will feel that some of the pressure is off you now that the matter is in professional hands - maybe you can relax a little.

You are right of course, I wouldn't like that heat and humidity - those conditions would be more dangerous to me than the cold - maybe better that I stay here and freeze to death, rather than be boiled alive.
I hope the climate becomes more bearable soon.

Hello again Tec, I did manage dinner tonight, but carefully ate on the other side

Berona

Berona Report 22 Feb 2010 21:09

Good evening/morning everyone. The temp reached 37 where I am yesterday, but to-day we are hoping for a max of 28. I didn't notice it much as I had plenty of sorting to keep me occupied - and I had the aircon working from morning until late at night!

No worries about not having anything to do in the winter, Tec. When I take on a project, I get right back to bare basics and start all over again - so I'll still be sorting next Christmas!

CC - I worked in the City of London for a year, in an insurance office. Our building was part of an old monastery (?) - with walls 14 inches thick - and our only window looked out onto a small square with a few cement slabs indicating that it was a burial ground in the 18th century. It was at the entrance to Leadenhall Markets.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 22 Feb 2010 21:21

Good that you managed dinner Linda, albeit carefully.
One of my bad encounters with my dentist was two years ago. I had to have a back tooth extracted.
There was quite a struggle getting it out, but I survived. However, not long after my face chilled out I realised I couldn't actually open my mouth. Eating was impossible, speaking was ridiculous. My jaw seemed locked. Two days later I returned to the dentist, convinced my jaw was broken. My dentist, an Arab gentleman, seemed rattled that I had the temerity to complain, and prescribed pain killers.
It was six whole weeks before things got back to normal. I lived on soup for two of those weeks.
You wonder why I am scared of dentists?

SueMaid Report 22 Feb 2010 21:22

Hello, Berona. It would've been stifling where you are. It was horrible here. I get so lethargic in this weather and even simple housework becomes a chore. If I don't get things done early then it doesn't get done. We're going down to Hobart for the weekend in March so I'm looking forward to the cooler temperatures down there.

Allan Report 22 Feb 2010 21:24

Good evening/morning all

Sue I'm glad that the Accountant now has charge of the issue. As Tec says ou can now relax to some extent.

CC being able to look after myself has come in handy over the years, especially when OH has had to spend time in hospital when the children were younger.

Her first spell was back in 1981 when OH had to have a salivary gland removed. My son was 5 and my daughter 1. Despite my best efforts they both survived to see my OH again :0))

Linda, my tooth is, I think, beyond repair!

Berona, are you saying that you were a late bloomer?

Allan

SueMaid Report 22 Feb 2010 21:32

Hello, Allan:-)) When our youngest of 3 was only a few months old I had to go into hospital for an operation. During the five days I was in hospital plus convalescing (sp) at home OH looked after the house and the children. He managed to get 2 children off to school every day plus take care of a baby. The only thing he couldn't manage was plaiting my daughter's long hair. She was sent to a neighbour for that. My sister came over and babysat while he visited in the evening and cleaned the bathroom while here.

He had a visit from the baby health clinic once who spoke to me after I came home and said that OH had everything organised so she left him to it. The funny thing is he had piles of washed and ironed clothes on the dining room table and he wouldn't put anything away because he said he wouldn't be able to find them again:-))
