Good Evening Diane,
I was surprised by last nights snow - just goes on and on.

Just one more week and you'll be foot loose and fancy free - whoopee.

We will miss you on here very much, so don't leave it too long before you come back. But remember to keep in touch by e-mail.

Berona

Berona Report 20 Feb 2010 22:22

I've just been out watering my pots. It's beautiful out there - no sign of any heat - yet! I have seats out there and can sit down to water in some places. Sadly, my front gardens have to rely on the rain (????) as I can't sit down there, nor can I stand for long enough to hold the hose in my hand - which is still a rule. We must use trigger nozzles and can only water gardens before 10am and after 4pm - but at least we can now do that on any day, where it was only twice a week until recent months.
I am so glad I chose geraniums and roses for my front gardens - I can't see many other plants surviving otherwise!

Ah bless you are all lovely, and yes foot loose and a bit drunk on the 2nd celebrateing my birthday as well as fancy free lol.

Allan I'm fine thank's just shattered after going shopping twice today, once with employer and his mum and then when I'd finished work I went again to get mine, before you ask why I didn't do mine at the same time, the two lot's together would not have fitted in the taxi.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 20 Feb 2010 22:39

i have just seen the weather forecast Tec and it looks like yo uare due for lots more snow tonight.

I will miss you too Diane. I know what you mean about the shopping Diane. i could never do mine when I took mum. Not for lack of space, I just couldn't face the hassle.

We never water our garden either Berona, mainly because we have to pay for the water on a meter. I only water the tubs with water collected in barrels from the roof. Of course our weather is not as hot, but even so the grass does suffer in a hot summer

Diane

Diane Report 20 Feb 2010 22:46

I will miss you too Linda, but we can keep in touch by E-mail. Your reason for not doing your shopping at the same time as your mum's is also another reason I don't do mine with employer's mum, I have to guide her son round Sainsbury's as well as push a trolley, his mum has a trolley as well.

Diane

Allan

Allan Report 20 Feb 2010 22:47

Linda, we also pay for our water via a meter.

That was one of the reasons for taking up the back lawn;

We have also turned the sprinlers off on the front lawn which is now just a brown patch!

LindainHerriotCountry Report 20 Feb 2010 22:50

I used to have mum in a wheel chir with one of the clip on trolleys on the front. The old type made the set up really long,so it was really difficult to turn corners. The newer type are so wide that it was often difficult to get round the corners where they stick extra stands in the aisles. Plus people just push in while you are trying to manoeuvre. I just used to "accidentally" bump into them when they did that

Diane

Diane Report 20 Feb 2010 22:50

Allan, what are sprinler's lol.

Tecwyn Report 20 Feb 2010 22:52

I missed the weather forecast because I was in the kitchen making a sandwich - but thanks for the warning Diane and Linda. Unbelievable.

Berona I think heathers survive dry conditions, and will flower in winter, I have some in full bloom now - but buried in snow. You would have to plant them in ericacious sp compost

LindainHerriotCountry Report 20 Feb 2010 22:52

Allan,I think that if the plants can;t survive on their own when planted in the soil, then they shouldn't be in the garden. A harsh view i know, but \I don;t want to be wasting water, or paying for it!

Diane

Diane Report 20 Feb 2010 22:53
