Sorry folk - got caught up in a couple of things......namely a cooked breakfast:-))

Well Tania in NZ is ok so hopefully Persey is.

I had a pm from Diane the other day and she asked me not to tell Berona she was still up. If you're looking in Diane.....I DIDN'T TELL ON YOU HONESTLY:-)))

Berona Report 28 Feb 2010 06:58

I suppose I was feeling vulnerable because we have all been saddened this week. I was tidying up my Contacts list when I noticed the only time I have sent a pm to Alison - and her reply. It was mid-January and she said that she would show her son how to answer pm's. However, as I clicked on her name to read it, a message screen came up suggesting that I ask her if I could view her tree. It shook me because at first I thought it was a message FROM her asking for access to my tree, and I knew I had never received such a message - we are not connected. No, I didn't think anything 'eerie' but it gave me all the more reason for thinking that message is rather "abrupt".

Hi, Berona. I was tidying up my sent messages the other day and I found the last message I sent to Alison. It was, of course, unopened. I can't make myself delete it yet.

The standard messages are rather abrupt. I used to ignore requests for opening my tree because I thought people were being rude.

Berona.......that is a bit spooky. The girl is playing games.....lol

I thought I'd just let you all know Ali's funeral is tomorrow (Monday 1st) at 11am Qld time.

You might like to think of her then.

Unfortunately it is just too far for us to get there, but I have started on the book for family. I will scan it when it's done. I'm not sure how to post piccies here but I can post on other sites and i know some of you are members there. I will let you know.

Libby.

It really IS spooky!!......I just this minute found the funeral notice!
(although I wouldn't put it past Ali - her sense of humour wouldn't miss an opportunity to show itself!).
I have already been asked once to-day, if I have ESP - and now this!! (No I don't have ESP!).

However, I came into Chat to advise the details and found you had already done this. Thank you very much for that. I'm sure that more than I will be thinking of her at 11am Monday (Sunday midnight, UK time).

p.s. just let us know when you are ready and we will get an email address to you.

SueMaid Report 28 Feb 2010 08:18

Oh Libby - thank you. I was thinking that it would be too far for you to travel. I'm sure she is in your heart and tomorrow will be such a hard day for you. We will be thinking of you as well as Ali and her 3 fellas.

Berona Report 28 Feb 2010 08:30

Elizabeth - while we have you here, let me thank you for what you have done for us. As you can see, we knew what was happening up to mid-January and I think we all knew that it would be downhill from there, so couldn't expect Ali to use a computer when she was so ill. It left us 'up in the air'; worried and wondering, at the same time hoping for a miracle. Although the news was not good, we might have gone on without knowing if you hadn't stepped in to put us at ease and tell us that she was no longer in pain, then also when the end came. It has given us closure and I'm sure I speak for all in thanking you for that.

SueMaid Report 28 Feb 2010 08:39

Yes Libby - thank you so much for thinking of us all at such a difficult time for you. You've become a friend and I really hope you'll pop in often to say hello.

Thank you Libby - Alison will always have a place in the cloisters of my heart and I will be thinking of you all tomorrow on such a sad occasion.

Oh Allan - I would like to be foot loose and fancy free - and do a few Kevin Bacon cartwheels but if you could see me get in and out of the car - no on second thoughts better don't you will all be PYSL.
We went to Tauranga yesterday - I travelled in the backseat of the RVR and we put a small stool in it with a pillow on it and I had a very comfortable trip there and back despite othopaedic surgeon saying I should not go. It was a lot easier than getting around here and trying to carry things and manage crutches - I would win the handicapped prize for my inability to manage. Nearly had a mishap though- we stopped at a cafe on the way down and they had washed the floor whilst we were there and my crutch decided to slide in the soapy wet floor - thought I might have a go at breaking the other leg. LOL Bring on the skateboard Tec and a couple of ski poles.

I live in about the middle of the Auckland Isthmus - so a lot of water would need to traverse over to my place past some of our volcanic hills (or mountains as Huia calls them). So I am not washed up yet. At least all our alerts were in place this time and everyone was well aware of the possibilties including the foolhardy.

Good morning everyone.

Waves to Diane.

Thank you for letting us know when the funeral is Elizabeth. I will stay up and attend in spirit so to speak. As the others have said, I hope that you will stay with us on this thread.

I am glad that you are OK Perse. I don't usually watch the TV news on Sunday morning, but I put it on to see how NZ had been affected by the Tsunami, thankfully the water levels seem to have been lower than expected.

Hi CC,
Your parties sound a lot of fun!
Interested to hear about the music. I like 60s and 70s stuff. I don't really listen to a lot.If anything the music I listen to most is Traditional Irish Music.
Glad you were able to get some sleep. In somnia isn't something I suffer from.
Evening/ morning everyone.

PatriciaAnn

PatriciaAnn Report 28 Feb 2010 18:51

I didn't realise music was used for pain management.
I like to listen to radio 4 if anything.

SueMaid Report 28 Feb 2010 20:16

Good morning/evening everyone. Hope you are all well.

Music is something I don't think I could do without. I was bought up in a household where there was always music playing. I love celtic music and find that very relaxing especially Loreena McKennitt and Celtic Women. I love listening to all the old music from the 60's and 70's and like you CC as the children grew up we were treated to a daily dose of whatever they were listening to. There is quite a lot of good stuff out now. I love listening to Amy Winehouse although I don't like watching her. I enjoy anything that catches my fancy whether it's an old old song or the latest on the radio. My husband bought me an MP3 player a couple of years ago and I really make use of it.

Yesterday it was hot and sticky for most of the day then in the afternoon we had a whacking thunderstorm with a heavy downpour of rain and now it seems to be cooler. I hope so.

On Friday we are going down to Hobart for the weekend - leaving first thing in the morning and arriving home lunchtime Monday. I can't wait to see my son and grandson who is very excited that we are going to visit him. It's his birthday on Wednesday - a whole 6 years old:-))

it's a lot better Sue. I try not to stay in the same position. It doesn't hurt. I've got a Chiro appointment 8.30 before work.

Good Evening.Morning Everyone.

I am glad that the threatened Tsunami did not materialise to any extent in Oz or NZ - that's a relief. Sorry for the peoples of Chile.

I discovered the benefit of music in pain control for myself some time ago. Where not even the strongest prescription painkillers touched it, I found that playing a CD through earphones, and pumping up the volume, worked every time.
My taste in music is rather varied. I enjoy the Big Band sound of even pre-me. I enjoy listening to the original Victor Sylvester orchestra - that should raise a chuckle. I've got a large collection of saxophone music, love that.
Enjoy Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, and Rimsky Korsakov.

There was a band called Barclay James Harvest that I suppose nobody has heard of, but they were around in the 70s and 80s, I've got all their albumns. Then along came Queen and Freddie Mercury, I've practically worn their CDs out, keeping some in the house, and others in the car.
I now collect Kathleen Jenkins CDs, I think she's gorgeous.

Good morning Sue. That's lovely for you that you are going to see your son and his family. But oh! what you are doing to me!!! You are leaving me with Allan and Tec again! Please make sure that Linda will be here to help me! I'm glad I got that crystal ball so that I can chase them up!

When my four children were in their teens/early twenties, each bought their own stereo systems and on Saturday mornings, would tune them all into the same radio station and open their windows, so that wherever we went, inside or out, we had 'surround sound'. The neighbours had it too - whether they liked it or not!

Berona

Berona Report 28 Feb 2010 21:16

Ah, Tec - now you're talking! Big Bands!! Yes!
My favourite radio station has a one-hour programme on Thursday evenings just for the big bands - and I wouldn't miss it. Tommy & Jimmy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Harry James, Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, to name just a few.
I had a 78 record of Victor Sylvester's Exhibition Swing - great dance music!
I suppose you 'young ones' don't even know what I'm talking about! (I must say that while I thought it was great dance music - I was a little too young to go dancing at the time!).
