Linda,
I sometimes used to disappear upstairs after dinner to work on PC, and OH wouldn't see me 'till supper time. It's not very friendly really. Now we sit in the same room - doing different things, but in the same room.

Allan, I don't find American comedies very funny. I used to enjoy a programme years ago called MASH, about a medical unit in Vietnam, with Alan Alder, that was very funny, and I could watch it again,

Diane,
I hope you get to retire in Wales. I couldn't live in a city now. Where we now live is rather like stepping back in time 50 years - wouldn't suit everyone, but there is no stress, no traffic, and everyone is very friendly.
The mix is roughly 75% Welsh 25% English, but everyone gets on.

Lots of sheep....thousands of them

Sound's like heaven to me Tec, I am serously thinking about takeing driving lesson's again, I can drive but have never gone in for my test, when I get an inheritence from the sale of a relative's house, I hope to use it to move to Wales and find a job and rent somewhere. If I pass test I will be able to drive back here to visit family when I want, this is my dream and hopefully it will be a reality one day.

That is something to really aim for Diane. It would be brilliant if you can get driving - will give you a lot of freedom and independence - go where you like, when you like.

My OH used to drive, but because of illness she can't anymore and I know she resents having to depend on me to take her everywhere.

Tec - You made me laugh when you said you "used to" watch MASH.

My children used to watch MASH too. They are all in their forties now and believe me, MASH is still showing! Still on the same chanel 7 and still at the same time 5pm, five nights a week! It has never stopped - been running for years and years!

When I switch on and see it - I switch OFF again!

HI everyone

Just a quick HI and bye today as I am home until lunch then tafe for yet another exam...

I do remember watching MASH years ago..but I think i am over it..lol. Like you Berona I switch it off fast. Talking of television there is so much too choose from now with the digital. Its just finding the time now. I noticed that Coronation street is on everyday in the afternoon ! All the old shows some of them goodies and some not so.

Sue you saying about your Mum and the mobile phone incident reminded me of not so long ago a person ( who shall remain nameless :)). Was rushing around in the morning..and said to the kids phone me sometime to day from home. Well the day went on and the person who shall remain nameless..was wondering why she hadn't had the call. Anyway after looking through her bag and checking her mobile phone....found yes the home phone..!!. We do have two phones at home but the other was in the locked study so they couldn't call !! Needless to say we all laughed that day and NO the boys did not get into trouble....:)))

Right I have rambled enough....Time for the washing to be hang out and off to TAFE i go...

Enjoy your day All...Brits when you get to Today...ENJOY !!

Janet - I hope your exams went well this afternoon. You don't stop do you? Are the boys feeling better? You made me laugh with your "phone" story. At least my mum can use her age as an excuse:-)))

Diane - sorry to hear you are in such pain. Hopefully a good rest next week will sort you out. I hope your dream comes true for a move to Wales. It sounds wonderful. We were in Liverpool last year and we went into an enormous shopping area. Would that have been the shopping centre you were talking about? It would take a day to look at everything:-)) We really like Liverpool especially OH and my brother - they're both Beatles fans.

Alison if you look in I hope you had a good day. I think of you often - mostly because you make me laugh:-))

I am glad that they went well Janet. You are on the home stretch now and will soon be able to have a well deserved rest.

I thought that I had a good idea this morning, in that I would do some extra housework, the sort which normally doesn't get done. So I set about washing down all the kitchen units, then I continued to do all of the paintwork. I have done the whole house, all the doors, window frames, skirting boards and bannisters.

I should feel virtuous, but I just feel shattered!

I hope that everyone else has had an easier day.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 2 Dec 2009 19:48

Good Everything to Everyone,

Wow Linda - Sounds like you've gone around the house like a thing possessed - I do hope you're not sickening for something.

Bet you forgot to dust behind the radiators, and did you remember to wipe the tops of the doors?
The Maid with the hairy legs would not forget these things.

I had an easier day thankyou. Every year at around this time, I write to various long time friends, in this country, and around the world. We don't usually correspond throughout the year, but usually exchange news of the years events in our lives, around Christmas time. These letters we enclose with our Christmas cards. Some must be posted tomorrow to reach overseas destinations in time.
I could of course e-mail some of these, but prefer to write, the old fashioned way, ink fountain pen, on quality writing paper.
This takes time and effort, and for those of us fortunate enough to have the time, I feel a hand written letter is far nicer to receive than an e-mail.

Now I have writers cramp........that'll teach me.

The Last of The Dinosaurs
Tec.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 2 Dec 2009 19:54

I always do the tops of the doors Tec. A long time ago,we went to stay with friends who had made a great effort to clean before we arrived. OH just casually reached up and ran his finger along the top of the door frame and of course it was dirty. I have never forgotten that.

I still have things to do, I need to clean all of the inside of the windows and all of the pictures on the walls. I will now have to add the backs of the radiators to my list.

I didn't realise that tomorrow was the last posting day, i have one for Canada,so will have to write that one in the morning.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 2 Dec 2009 20:32

Linda,
I think the last posting date for North America is actually December 8th, but you had best check that.

When I was at sea, part of my job entailed inspecting passenger cabins to check that cabin stewards were doing their job. These inspections were carried out about every ten days on a long voyage. Wearing white cotton gloves, and a torch, we would look for dust everywhere and anywhere, including tops of doors, bottoms of wardrobes, under bunk/beds.
A proffessional dust buster - who having returned to the real world, quickly learnt that there are more important things in life to worry about than a bit of dust.
Now if anyone comes to my house and spots dust - dusters are readily available........help yourselves!

SueMaid Report 2 Dec 2009 20:45

Good morning/evening, friends. Hope all is well.

Tec - I'm particular about the kitchen and bathroom but as much as I like a clean house I don't stress over dust. We have a small house so it can look untidy when we're all at home but it doesn't bother me too much. The grandchildren have a toy box here but lately they've decided it's fun to draw and colour-in so I have a vinyl tablecloth that I spread on the table and they can go for it. As their mum always makes them tidy up after themselves I don't worry about the mess they make.
