Ooohh, Allan. I had a lot of seafood yesterday, but no oysters were on the menu. You make my mouth water! However, I made up for it with the prawns!

Tec, that was noble of you to finish off the wine. We can't have waste! Yes, what a lovely time we would have. Keep buying those tickets!

Diane, I hope you can sort out everything - and stick to it! I'm not very good at keeping resolutions, so I don't make them any more.

To all others - I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and can continue to relax and enjoy the weekend.

Allan Report 25 Dec 2009 23:07

Berona, I was on my best behaviour last night and didn't eat anything other than those oysters, but just on their own with some fresh lemon juice, they were a meal in themselves.

Afternoon all -

Will pop in again later tonight and then I should be back on track again.

Our day went off well - crackers with good little gadgets in them - we had Ham & lamb and new potatoes and peas and SIL brought over his Warm potato salad he makes and I made scrumptious crispy stuffing balls - I thought I did a sterling effort in my new oven - (she says singing her praises or should that be blowing my trumpet) I also made a spinach and water chestnut dip thingy which was a small salad and then a lettuce and tomato salad and for my fussy Grandchildren I also made a bacon and egg pie.
For afters my Mississippi Chocolate Mud Pie was scrummy and we had cream sherry trifle plus cherries, strawberries and blackberries - there was no room for the cheese board so we had leftovers for lunch today with cheese board . I love sliced up sautéed left over potatoes.
We have a ritual where we have dinner- then open the presents and then desert but the adults sat and talked for way too long for my 8 year old grandson, he was really chomping at the bit by the time we all went into the lounge.
Now why didn't you tell me Berona - no good giving grandson a scooter for Christmas without giving him a packet of plasters to go with it.

Hope OH is feeling better Linda and by the looks of things you all had a good time though for some of you a quieter time. Next year we will be on our own and Christmas will be celebrated on Boxing day as the grandies go to my SIL's mother's place. We have turn and turn about.

Have you done the helicopter ride Tec - sorry if I missed it I saw you talking about it before hand but didn't see lift off?

Happy Boxing Day everyone and Hope you are feeling bright and perky our Alison.

Cheers

Persephone

Hello all:-))

Happy Boxing Day Aussies, I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas.
Mine was hectic as usual. I cooked Christmas lunch for my Mum and my family which was the usual chicken, lamb and pork, veggies, salads and of course the seafood, followed by the pudding.
I had my girlfriend drop by and all the family sang Happy Birthday to me cos Christmas day was mine, yes there was cake and candles!!!!
The day was perfect and Santa spoiled me rotten, I got a lap top YIPPEE, so I'm a happy little vegemite!!!!

This morning I drove to Ballarat, which is about 45 minutes away, my daughter is on a horse riding camp for 3 days, she comes home on Monday.
My boys are out for the day, so its just OH and I, he is watching the cricket.

I'm off to hang out the washing, so enjoy your day everyone!!!!

Hi Carole

How are you heat wise - been thinking of you.My friend in Scotland who is one of the Montgomery descendants - she is a leaf away out there on my tree but we eventually get back to the same ancestor (not Tec's Llama) sent me this reply to your Fairy poem:

asked my fairy if she would like some gin. She replied:-

"I'd rather hae whisky than gin.
A single maut, a big yin',
Waud tak ma mind
Aff ma sair behind."

We hadn't talked for awhile on our trees as we have both done our connection bits so to speak.

Glad you had a good Birthday and Christmas - you are a real Christmas Fairy then. Many Happy Returns

Love
Persey

Berona Report 26 Dec 2009 04:25

Hello Perse and Carole - Happy festive season - and happy birthday Carole!
Diane - probably asleep by now - I just wanted to let her know that when she finds this rich man, he has to be at least 90 and have a very bad cough. She won't have to work for long after that! She'll be able to pay someone else to redecorate her bedroom!

I am still recovering from our Christmas meal and reading your menus makes me feel bloated! We had ham and chicken (daughter opted for the chicken because none of us are very fond of turkey), so she also had butterflied lamb leg and she marinated it in Maggi 'Cook in the Pot' Lamb Casserole. - then her OH barbecued it.....Scrumptious!

Allan - you really were on your best behaviour! Nine oysters! That's nine gulps and they've gone! You really must have filled up at lunch time, like I did. I don't normally eat like that at lunch time, but our lunch was late, so by the evening, I couldn't touch any food at all. I made myself have a yogurt just so that I wouldn't wake up hungry but I doubt that I would have done anyway.

No rain to-day so far, but the pavers haven't dried. I haven't been doing much - just sitting around - and I've been feeling cold! Rain is forecast for to-day and the next couple of days too, but unless it is so light, we can't see it - it hasn't rained to-day, as yet. Crazy weather, isn't it? Well, at least while the rain is about, the less we have to worry about fires!

Hope you are all enjoying the long weekend. Take care and drive safely.

Hi Berona

It is very lazy weather here - my daughter, SIL and his mum have just left and are heading back to Wellington. My SIL's sister's second child is due in a few weeks so their mother is lengthening her stay by a couple of weeks and not heading back to Guernsey till beginning of February. It was very nice to meet her and as my OH says completes the family circle.

I couldn't sleep last night so got up at 2.30am and watched "Bridges of Madison County" - went back to bed at nearly 5am and thought I would probably sleep in but no body clock seems to know when to wake up at the normal time. Starting to sound like Diane being up at all hours.

Back to normal tomorrow - though won't have to worry much about meat as still have some lamb and ham.

cheers

Perse

Happy birthday, Carole - hope you were doubly spoiled:-))

We had a lovely day yesterday. We had a very light breakfast and waited till the grandkids arrived before opening gifts. I did very nicely:-))

For lunch we had grilled haloumi with tomatoes and asparagus sprinkled with balsamic vinegar. Then we had turkey, ham, prawns and oysters with salads. Followed by mum's trifle - wouldn't be Christmas without trifle. Then we had a cheese platter with a very posh spiced pear paste and a crab pate. Mmmmm.

In the evening we just nibbled on cheese, pickled onions, olives and nice bread and butter. We were too full for a bbq.

This afternoon my brother and sister in law came around for nibblies and drinks. They've just gone home to grab some food and then they're coming back for some bbq'd sausages and rissoles. And after all that I don't think I'm going to want to eat again for awhile:-))

Hope everyone is having fun.

Hello Sue
Thanks for the birthday greetings, yes, I was spoiled - twice!!

A little thing spoiled the day yesterday, though.
We had a visit from the boys in blue. An acquaintance of my eldest son went missing on Christmas eve. His mother rang my son asking if he knew where her son was, as he had not come home. We then had the police visit asking the same questions. My son gave them some phone numbers to try and explained to them he hardly knows the boy.
The young fellow turned up late yesterday, but not before another tearful phone call from his distraught mother, asking me did I know where her son was. Apparently the boy in question spent the night heavily intoxicated at a party, but told his mother that he was with my son - my son was actually working!!!! Sorry, rant over.

We are eating leftover seafood and the fruit that didn't get eaten yesterday, I really didn't over indulge yesterday, between cooking and the phone ringing non stop, I didn't have the time!!!!

Good morning everyone. I am just grabbing a few peaceful moments before anyone gets up. They all seem to be having a long sleep in.

When my son arrived at about 8pm, we had another round of presents opening, which was nice.It was quite late (well for me)by the time I finally got to bed

Traditionally on Boxing Day, we would go to see my brother and do presents, then everyone would move onto my parents house for a buffet meal. We have done this ever since all the children were tiny.

For the last few years, only my family have gone on to mum's,so It wouldn't be too much for her to to cope with. I hadn't really thought about what we would do this year. I just assumed that we would still drive to my brothers house to see him, but last night,he decided that he would come here and stay for a meal. that is fine, except we normally just have left overs to eat on Boxing day, but now I am going to have to make an effort of some sorts.Luckily, I impulse bought an extra ham joint on Christmas eve, so I will roast that and I have enough salad ingredients to knock up a presentable salad. I will contemplate what else I can rustle up over another cup of coffee.

Happy birthday for yesterday Carole

Perse - I'm sorry, I didn't know you were out of practice - I thought you would have had the bandaids ready!

Carole - hope you had a lovely birthday along with a happy Christmas.

Sue - I haven't had trifle for a long time. With your trifle and Allans oysters - I could go another Christmas Day luncheon!

Linda - I think it's a good thing that you are having this impromptu meal at your place. You'll probably find that you enjoy it better than making plans and preparations. It's a little too soon for you to make much of Christmas this year, but now that you've changed things around, you will have new ideas for Christmas by the time the next one comes around. Hope your OH is feeling better soon. You too. Take care.

Perse- that sherry trifle with all the other berry's sound's scrumptious YUM YUM,

Carole- many happy returns as well as happy christmas hun and hoped you enjoyed the day and that your lappy is up and running.

Berona- that was the kind of rich man I was thinking about, but knowing my luck he will live for another 20yrs, so I thought I'd opt the other way and go for a toy boy who like's older woman, ( at least I could have some fun too ) hussy aren't I lol. I'd make sure he liked traveling and then I could visit you all one by one.

Sue- you seem to have had a full day today with your visiter's, hope you chilled out when you had the bbq hun.

Well today I was at work for 8am till 12pm and then I came home watched tv for a couple of hrs, went for a lie down for a couple of hrs and then got up made a meal from yesterday's left over's which was mash potato's, roast potato's, carrot's, turkey, stuffing and some freshly made gravy, I plated it up and covered with cling film and put it in micro wave and thouroughly enjoyed it and now I'm just relaxing in front of tv lol.
